The first championship match for the Royal Rumble 2023 premium live event has been announced during this week’s Raw. The full lineup for the match to be contested for the red brand women’s title is yet to be finalized, though. Alexa Bliss and Bayley will compete on next week’s WWE Raw in a match to determine the next challenger for the title held by Bianca Belair.
The two women qualified for the match by emerging as the victorious ones in a couple of triple-threat matches on this week’s WWE Raw. In the first triple threat on Raw, Bayley defeated Rhea Ripley and Asuka to still hold a chance to compete at Royal Rumble 2023. Bayley pinned Asuka to secure the pinfall win.

Then in the main event of Raw, Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch and Nikki Cross in the second triple threat to join Bayley in the match to become one of the contenders for the Raw Women’s Title.
In between the match, Lynch was pulled out of the ring by Dakota Kai and IYO SKY and she suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Lynch was put through the commentary table to get neutralized. This allowed Bliss to connect with her pendant Twisted Bliss on Cross for the pinfall win.

Bayley vs. Becky Lynch in the pipeline for Royal Rumble 2023?
Raw went off the air with Lynch still selling injuries after suffering the powerbomb through the announce table. It was also announced at the same time that Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss will go down, next week on Raw to determine who will face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Royal Rumble 2023.
The current speculation is that Lynch will cost Bayley in the match against Bliss next week to set up the anticipated showdown between the former Four Horsewomen members at a future event. WWE’s next premium live event, Royal Rumble 2023 is likely to be an option to host the match but WWE may not hold back this match for too long.
Next week’s number-one contender’s match between Bayley and Bliss will be their first singles bout in nearly three months. Bayley won the previous match due to interference from IYO SKY. The two also wrestled inside the WarGames structure at Survivor Series.
