A few years ago, Saraya was left with no choice but to announce retirement from in-ring competition due to a neck injury. It drastically changed things in her career as an active superstar like her was forced to sit at home without no task in hand. The former Paige did remain relevant in other roles in WWE for the following years but in a non-wrestling role, she could never be satisfied.
Saraya then left the WWE back in July and then made her All Elite Wrestling debut during the AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam episode in September. Two months later, the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion is waiting to return to action after getting medically cleared for competition by the doctors.
Tay Conti Thanks WWE And AEW For All Achievements In Professional Wrestling
This weekend, AEW will hold one of its flagship PPV events of the year, Full Gear, from Newark, New Jersey. Headlining the event will be AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defending his title against MJF. But in a major attraction of the night, Saraya will be seen wrestling inside the squared circle after five long years.
Being an idol of this generation’s female pro-wrestlers, there’s a chip on the returnee’s shoulder. She had already left a mark as a technical wrestler and now it’s time for her to live up to her level at Full Gear 2022 against one of the top female Superstars of AEW, Dr. Britt Baker.

Saraya is equally excited for her match at AEW Full Gear
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Saraya discussed the excitement and pressure at the same time as she heads into the monumental match at AEW Full Gear 2022. While she’s excited to be back in action, it’ll be important for her to be extremely safe while taking bumps in the ring.
Also, each of her moves would be scrutinized by the fans and critics. Saraya also noted how she intends to make herself and her opponent safe in the ring,
“For everybody. Everybody watching, everybody in general. It’s going to be a big deal. I’m going to be under a microscope that day. Everything I’m going to be doing is going to be scrutinized. I’m fully expecting, at this point after the match, I’m not going to look at social media or have it on my phone. I’m already too much in my head to the point where I just want it to be good and I have to focus on making sure that I keep myself safe and make sure Britt is safe.” (quotes courtesy Fightful)

AEW President Tony Khan also talked about Saraya’s returning match against Baker at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view event during an interview with Inside The Ropes. Khan noted that he would still have the former WWE Divas Champion signed to an AEW contract even if she couldn’t wrestle. This does hint at how much it means for the company to have her around.
