Sonya Deville hasn’t been in action since wresting at last year’s SummerSlam 2020 pay-per-view where she lost perhaps the most high-profile match of her career. She was involved in a long-term feud with bestie Mandy Rose that led to a Loser Leaves WWE match.

Mandy won that match to send her adversary out of the WWE context, for some time. It was supposed to be a hair vs. hair match, but then circumstances called for a change as the two featured in a traditional bout.

Sonya Deville then took some time off to deal with a terrible stalker situation that took place at her house in Florida. While many thought that it may keep her out of WWE TV for a longer time, she was back in no time. Fans and WWE Superstars were surprised as WWE brought her back to television in a new role of a WWE official. She’s been helping out Adam Pearce in putting matches but she has not been wrestling at all.

Sonya Deville will eventually be back in action

That tradition could soon change as a report claims Sonya Deville is likely to be back in the competition. Ringside News has been told that the first lesbian superstar from the WWE roster is currently preparing for her in-ring return. This is something that WWE had actually pushed back. The original plan was to witness her wrestling, by now.

“We’ve been hearing that Sonya Deville is training for her in-ring return. After asking around, we were also told that she was supposed to be back around Mania season, but they keep pushing it back “a week, then two weeks, yada yada,” so yeah. Stay tuned on that one. It’ll happen,” mentioned Steve Carrier of the source.

Update On Sonya Deville Returning To WWE In-Ring Competition 2

As you can see, WWE has the in-ring return pitching for Sonya Deville for several weeks which has just been pushed back. She is still considered to be an on-screen official and when she does come back to action, it’s likely to become a very big deal.

With Smackdown Women’s division lacking some big names in the title picture, it seems evident that Sonya Deville could be pushed back into the scene. With her natural heel gimmick, Sonya Deville can be a strong challenger for the current champion, Bianca Belair. We will have to see how WWE eventually plans on doing the return, eventually.
