WWE announced before this week’s Raw that the legendary John Cena will appear on the September 1st episode of WWE SmackDown. This appearance will be followed by another appearance in India for the WWE Superstar Spectacle event on September 8th. Essentially, the returnee will be on a promotion spree on Smackdown for the grand live event scheduled to go down in India.
Since the announcement of John Cena’s arrival in India, there have been a lot of speculations over whether he will compete on the show or not. Given his Hollywood stint, there must be some insurance policies around him that could bar him from getting involved in the competition.

However, with the following tweet, John Cena confirmed that he will be in action at Superstar Spectacle in India,
“Cannot wait to reunite with the WWE family live on SmackDown! Especially excited to meet the WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the FIRST TIME EVER in India! The time is NOW…. C U all VERY soon!!!”
Seeing this tweet, WWE Smackdown Superstar tweeted out the following to hint at a rivalry with the greatest of all time, “Make sure you wipe your feet before you visit my house.”

Back at Money in the Bank in early July, John Cena made a surprise appearance in the WWE. On that night, he was confronted by Waller and he was also attacked by the brass heel. Eventually, the Cenation Leader forced his attitude to get adjusted with his pendant finisher. It appears that the continuation of the program between the two will unfold on the September 1 episode of Smackdown.
As of this writing, the writing on the wall is clear and it seems like WWE could be setting up John Cena vs. Grayson Waller for WWE Superstar Spectacle in India and that match should be made official on the September 1st episode of SmackDown. This will be Cena’s first match since WrestleMania 39, where he lost to Austin Theory in a United States Championship match.
With John Cena getting involved at the WWE Live Event in India, Superstar Spectacle will likely be broadcasted on the Sony Sports Network. WWE might also air the event globally through WWE Network/Peacock much like the 2021 edition.
