The month of January was majorly interesting for the WWE as it witnessed the departure of Stephanie McMahon as the co-WWE CEO. It happened right after her father Vince McMahon was sworn in as the new Chairman of the WWE on January 6 to bring in some more changes to the board.
It was back in the summer of 2022 that Stephanie McMahon stepped in and took over her father Vince McMahon’s duties as the CEO when the latter had to step down in the wake of a hush money scandal investigation against him. A few months later, Vince is back in the powerhouse position and it’s his daughter who had to step away from her duties.
Will Stephanie McMahon And Triple H Start Their Own Company After WWE Sell-Out?
Being a popular boss amongst the WWE talents, Stephanie McMahon leaving the company, possibly forever had to make some heavy impact. Now, A report posted by Fightful detailed how the departure had indeed made some ill effects on WWE’s backstage morale.
Before leaving the company, The Billion Dollar Princess did lead a talent meeting that, according to the report and it did imply some friction between Vince McMahon and some in WWE,
“Stephanie McMahon led an employee meeting on January 6 where she admitted “there’s naturally some animosity” before correcting the term to “angst,” regarding some’s feelings about Vince McMahon forcing his way back in. Much of Stephanie McMahon’s own team was dismantled in major cuts during the pandemic.”
WWE employees feared consequences after Stephanie McMahon’s departure
Fightful made contact with several WWE talents who shared their reaction to the news. Some were confused as to what Stephanie McMahon’s exit meant for the company and some of them obviously expected consequences, downing the backstage morale,
“The general consensus that we gauged was uncertainty of what a move like this actually means. One talent heavily stressed that they believe Vince McMahon taking over creative duties would lead to public frustration from the roster. Another source said that they’re hopeful this means a sale is coming.”
As per the indications via recent reports, this departure of Stephanie McMahon should last forever which makes sense since Vince McMahon is willing to sell the WWE, in the first place within the first six months of 2023. Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund is also reportedly in the run to take things over in the WWE which could be the only option for Vince to retain his duties even after selling the company.
