The Great Khali’s involvement in Brian Ong’s death
During his days at the All Pro Wrestling Boot Camp, in Hayward, California, The Great Khali was training with Brian Ong, a Deloitte consultant who also had the expectation to become a wrestler. On May 28, 2001, during a flapjack move, Ong landed on his head. Per the witnesses, Ong’s head bounced off the mat after a stiff powerbomb from his opponent.
Upon arriving at the St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, California, Ong was declared dead, adding him to the handful of wrestlers who died while being inside the squared circle. Many believe that the death was caused due to two amateurs like The Great Khali and Ong being paired opposite each other in a situation where their height difference was also something noticeable.
