The Miz has become the new WWE Champion after the dramatic set of incidents went down at last night’s Elimination Chamber 2021 pay-per-view. The main event of the night witnessed Drew McIntyre retaining the WWE Title inside the Chamber, defeating Sheamus, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, and Randy Orton. McIntyre hit a Claymore Kick to pin AJ Styles to win the match.
Once the match was over, McIntyre was celebrating his mammoth win at the Chamber that was also his biggest successful title defense, to date. Suddenly, Bobby Lashley attacked him with a Spear. Lashley then destroyed McIntyre sending him into the barricade before he left him laying with The Hurt Lock submission maneuver. It seemed to be a setup as The Miz made his entrance with a referee by his side and his Money In the Bank briefcase.

The A-lister attacked Drew after the bell rang and the match started officially. He hit him with a DDT but Drew kicked out at 2 stunning the challenger. The Miz then hit the Skull Crushing Finale to get the pin and win the WWE Title. This is the second WWE Title win of Miz’s career and he interestingly won on both occasions, using the MITB contract. The previous time it happened against Randy Orton, the night after Survivor Series 2010.
Lashley’s attack helped The Miz to become the new WWE Champion
Meanwhile, Lashley’s attack on McIntyre occurred after he lost the WWE United States Title earlier in the Elimination Chamber night to Riddle. It was a Triple Threat that also included John Morrison.
Interestingly, the brain of The Hurt Business, MVP, was seen talking to The Miz backstage before the main event took place. Perhaps this helped Miz to start with his second reign with the WWE Title. McIntyre won the title back on November 16, 2020, RAW with a clean pinfall win over Orton.
This sudden win of The Miz sent the internet fans to a frenzy. Being a heel superstar, the fans are supposed to hate this win. Maintaining the kayfabe part of his character intact, the new champion talked to WWE interviewer Sarah Schreiber after Elimination Chamber to deliver a message to his critics.
“Understand that I told you so,” The Miz said. “Whenever someone says I wasn’t thinking on their level, I am a master strategist, I think further than anybody else in all of WWE. I didn’t just take respect, I demanded it through all the WWE Universe, and I could care less if everybody’s on the internet going, ‘No, Miz doesn’t deserve it, oh Miz shouldn’t be WWE Champion!’ Cry, go ahead and cry, and keep on doing it because that is the fuel that lights my fire. I am your WWE Champion, whether you like it or not.”
