Toni Storm is touted to be one of the huge NXT stars in the making. With huge indie experience under her belt, it’s assumed that WWE must be having some bigger plans around her in the future. But it took her quite some time to expand wings on the black and gold brand. It wasn’t fully her fault as the current pandemic situation provided a big resistance.

Inside The Ropes recently caught up with Toni Storm to talk about her show-up to NXT, last year. The conversation mentioned how she spent a lot of time off the television, but it was never supposed to be that way. The reality is that she was supposed to make her debut much sooner. But then the coronavirus pandemic hit and plans changed in a big way.

“Yeah, I think I was meant to be there quite a few months sooner, but obviously I got stuck and obviously the UK… It’s still in a terrible state now, pandemic wise, but it was terrible back then so we didn’t know what was happening with NXT UK either. I was just kind of in between, like, ‘ I don’t know.’ I was living each day not knowing what was going to happen, when I was going to leave, so it was crazy time. But yeah, it took me until October.”

With a load of talent that Toni Storm has, it’s almost certain that she is determined to make up the lost time. NXT is said to be the best Women’s Division in the world and a lot of competition will be reserved for her to face along the way. Things might haven’t happened as quickly as they were originally planned, but that must not change the way her NXT career was supposed to be.

Toni Storm Reveals Original Plans For Her WWE Debut 2

Tonight, Toni Storm is slated to compete in the biggest match of her career as she challenges Io Shirai and Mercedes Martinez in a Triple Threat Match for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day event. If she can win the match that she would make history by becoming the first Mae Young Classic winner to get hold of both the NXT and NXT UK Championship.

Toni Storm was also able to compete in the 2021 Royal Rumble match which wasn’t the original plan. Mia Yim, better known as Reckoning now, tested positive for COVID-19 and she couldn’t work the Women’s Rumble match. According to Fightful Select, Storm was there to work as an alternate for Reckoning.

Toni Storm actually wasn’t originally planned for the Rumble match and ended up serving as an alternate when Yim couldn’t make it.
