After grinding a lot in the professional wrestling circuit, Toni Storm has been able to reach the top in AEW, in the 2022 summer. She became the Women’s Champion in the company at the All Out PPV event to become the face of the female roster of the company. However, it was unfortunate that an interim tag was put before her championship status and she wants to remove it, permanently.
For a long time, two women are currently placed at the top of the AEW Women’s division. Technically, Thunder Rosa is the current AEW Women’s World Champion but she was pulled from a championship defense against Toni Storm at the All Out pay-per-view in early September due to a back injury.

Due to the injury, AEW had to arrange a Four-Way match so that an Interim title-holder could be crowned while Rosa is away. Toni Storm appeared to be that person who overcame the likes of Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, and Jamie Hayter to get her way to the title win. However, the current champion wants to her status to be permanent and not interim for obvious reasons.
“I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense,” Toni Storm said in an interview with Bleacher Report. “That’s kind of what’s been bothering me. I think that’s been bothering a lot of people because she’s still calling herself the AEW Women’s World Champion, and I’m the one here every week doing the work.”

Toni Storm set for a future clash against Thunder Rosa
Thunder Rosa will not be returning from injury for the foreseeable future. The original AEW Women’s World Champion spoke to Dave LeGreca while co-hosting the latest “Busted Open Radio” and gave an update on her recovery. She still happens to be in pain and hence, going through some physical therapy, as well as non-surgical treatments, to progress through the back injury.
Whenever she comes back, Toni Storm will take on her to become the undisputed cum permanent AEW Women’s World Champion. In the meantime, the former WWE Superstar claims that she knows how she wants to represent the company and the women’s division,
“Right now. I guess it’s about being a good champion, being a strong champion,” she said. “That’s what I’m up against every day. I’m working harder than I ever had in my entire career. The time is now. I look at every week as just an opportunity to prove myself. I love giving it my all, and who knows where we go from here? But all I know is I’m gonna continue to work hard.”
