Gable Steveson has been a top WWE prospect for sometimes and chances for him to sign with the company have just been increased after he ended up winning an Olympic Gold Medal today at the Tokyo Olympics. The 21-year-old defeated Georgian Geno Petriashvili in the 125-kilogram freestyle category.
With just 10 seconds left in the biggest wrestling match of his life, Gable Steveson delivered a spin-behind takedown with those 10 seconds left, and then another with less than 1 second left that secured his win for the men’s freestyle 125-kilogram class finals 10-8 on Friday night in Japan. Georgia representatives challenged the final points but the USA participant actually gained a point on the challenge, giving him five points in 10 seconds.
Why Brock Lesnar Hasn’t Returned To The WWE In Summer 2021
Following his Gold Medal win, Gable Steveson played to the crowd and walked around the mat with the American flag draped over his shoulders. He also hit a back-flip that he often does after winning a big match. “You know, I put on a good show,” was his initial reaction after this mega win. “People are going to remember the name Gable Steveson.”

Gable Steveson has a good rapport with Brock Lesnar
ESPN noted in a report that the wrestling world alongside amateur and pro now awaits the next move from Gable Steveson. It’s no secret that he is a big fan of WWE who is also interested in working for the company, but then it’s also possible that he could return to the University of Minnesota for his senior year, and continue his career in NCAA. He’s a former NCAA Heavyweight Champion for this past season who also shared the Dan Hodge Trophy for the best collegiate wrestler in the country.
Being billed from Minnesota, Gable Steveson had some training sessions with former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in the past as you can see in the given photos. Paul Heyman is also a close one to him. Plus, he was also in attendance for NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver Night Two event during WrestleMania 37 Weekend in April. WWE actually showed him on camera with WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon and former WWE Senior Director of Talent Development Canyon Cemen.
