There have been some rumors around Brock Lesnar’s potential return to WWE in time to work for Summerslam 2021 although nothing is yet to be clarified. Now, WWE officials reportedly want him to return and work in live events, in the future. Per his usual schedule, he works only in a handful number of TV and non-televised shows which may not be the case, if this new update appears to be true.

As noted above, WWE does want Brock Lesnar to return at SummerSlam on August 21 as they want to make the show a spectacle, similar to Wrestlemania but no such deal has been noted in place, as of late June. It has now been indicated by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast that the plan for the former champion’s return for SummerSlam 2021 didn’t work out due to creative reasons.

The financial side of the deal was also noted and in it WWE wanted Brock Lesnar to commit to live-events which are being billed as WWE SuperShows consisting of both Raw and Smackdown superstars. The return deal for the former Universal Champion is constantly being dealt out as the belief is that he will eventually be back to the WWE.

Brock Lesnar is yet to be confirmed for Summerslam

At this point, SummerSlam 2021 is now planned out without Brock Lesnar and isn’t needed, right away, but if he wants to work the show, then the creative team will have to figure things out. Paul Heyman’s former client is in WWE’s future plans, but there’s no word on how exactly WWE wants to pan things out around him. There’s no confirmed update available on when the comeback may happen.

There’ve been some speculations that WWE is shaping things up for several big returns as the company returns to touring with fans in the crowd, beginning next week with the Money in the Bank go-home edition of SmackDown in Houston, Texas. It makes sense that Brock Lesnar should be in their plan. Booking him in the house shows would surely help them with ticket sales as he’s a special attraction for the audience.

In the meantime, Paul Heyman has fueled the rumor mill with a Facebook profile photo change, which is now being considered as a possible tease for Brock Lesnar’s return. The image had a snap from Heyman from the Wrestlemania 31 match between Lesnar and Reigns.

It should be noted that Brock Lesnar has not been seen in WWE since losing the WWE Title to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. His contract expired after that match, including his imagery deal with the company but it’s been expected that he will eventually return to the company when the time is right.
