Christian Cage is back as a regular wrestler via his debut at AEW Revolution. Different opinions are available whether it was the right choice for him to join the WWE’s rival brand or not, he has been able to get the spotlight toward himself. As stated by Big Show aka Paul Wright, his career is definitely Hall of Fame worthy and WWE may not be happy about losing him.

According to the reports of Fightful Select, the higher-ups in WWE has lack references about Christian and it wasn’t a coincidence. Some were also “let down that the former world champion making the move but in the end, they’re pleased with whatever pleases the veteran superstar. Also, it was on WWE that the company never locked him into a deal.

“One talent we heard back from spoke highly of Christian as a person, and said that if it makes him happy, they’re happy for him.”

It was stated that the majority of the AEW roster was aware of this big surprise waiting at the Revolution pay-per-view event. It’ll be interesting to see how AEW uses Christian as he informed Tony Khan that he wanted to wrestle on a regular basis.

Also, during the media call following the Revolution event, Tony Khan explained that AEW’s contract with Christian was signed in recent weeks. As noted by the Wrestling Observer on Twitter, Khan wasn’t even aware that he wasn’t under a contract with WWE who only hoped to get him under a deal,

“Khan said the Christian deal came up over the past few weeks. He wasn’t aware he didn’t have a contract and was interested in wrestling again. He was kicking himself for not getting him when he saw him in the RR.”

It still up in the air what kind of role Christian Cage will play in AEW. The new shtick of outwork everyone could mean he’ll be a regular figure in the company’s main event scene. He also received a new nickname of “Instant Classic.”

The fact that Christian went down a thorough process to make his return to the pro wrestling ring after a gap of seven years indicates that it wasn’t for a one-off occasion. He returned at the 2021 Royal Rumble match and afterward negotiated a WWE deal but that fell apart and he eventually landed on the rival brand.
