The road to Royal Rumble changed big-time from last week’s WWE Raw. One of the main events of the upcoming changed all of a sudden. Vince McMahon kept Braun Strowman out of the Royal Rumble Universal championship match against Brock Lesnar. None other than Finn Balor reserved the place that came as a big surprise.
He was nowhere near to get an opportunity with Wrestlemania just a couple of months away. McMahon was never fond of this WWE Raw roster member. This man had all the tools to become the next too guy but not got the opportunities as per the need. So giving him the title match came as a welcoming decision for the fans.
Last night was the final episode of WWE Raw prior to Royal Rumble 2019. So we expected to see Finn Balor meeting Brock Lesnar inside the ring. These two have never come face to face which is why the anticipation was much bigger. The buildup for the title match would have been incomplete without this confrontation.
So Brock Lesnar appeared on WWE Raw eyeing his opponent in the opening segment. Paul Heyman cut a long promo before Braun Strowman came out. He was furious about losing Royal Rumble title opportunity. But he has not been over with chasing down the beast incarnate. Mr. McMahon was also present inside the ring claiming that Strowman is lucky enough to still have a job on WWE Raw!
You should remember that Braun Strowman destroyed McMahon’s Limo, last week. Finn Balor finally appeared on WWE Raw pointing out that how things remain the same on the show. Brock Lesnar and STrowman are going at each other again and again. He wanted to do something fresh by taking on against the monster, right there. So the opening contest of the night was all set.
Brock Lesnar was standing by the ringside when Strowman decided to throw Balor on him. Lesnar hit Balor with a Belly-to-belly Suplex. But the challenger for the Universal title caught him with some quick shots and pushed him into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, Finn Balor hit a Sling Blade followed by the Coup De Grace. But he could not hook up the legs as the beast entered the ring. He hit a vicious F5 to disqualify the match before leaving. The champion did leave a strong message to the contender as we would why he should fear the Conqueror.
