This week’s WWE NXT was highlighted by Bronson Reed becoming the new North American Champion. In the main event of the show, Reed captured the title by defeating Johnny Gargano in a Steel Cage match despite interference by Austin Theory. Reed won with authority by putting away Gargano with a Tsunami Splash off the top rope.
This is Reed’s first title reign since signing a WWE contract in January 2019 while Gargano won the title back at “Takeover: WarGames 2020” on December 6. He defeated Leon Ruff in a Triple Threat that also featured Damian Priest.
Meanwhile, a loaded line-up has been announced for WWE NXT’s episode on the USA Network. NXT General Manager William Regal has announced Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart will compete against Dakota Kai and NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez with the winners potentially becoming the new number-one contender for Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Both teams appeared in separate segments, this week to make it clear that they want a shot at NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell. Next week’s match should hand a title match to the winners in the coming weeks.

Bobby Fish returning to action on WWE NXT
Bobby Fish is set to make his in-ring return on next week’s show for the first match since the WarGames 2020 match. He will face Pete Dunne in a singles contest. Fish is back on NXT TV during last week’s show after suffering an injury at WarGames. He saved Kyle O’Reilly from a double team attack by Dunne and Oney Lorcan while this week Fish made it clear that he wants to go after Lorcan and Dunne. Then he challenged Dunne to a match as the match was made official by Regal.
WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase will return to WWE NXT, next week to make a Million Dollar Face-Off happen with Cameron Grimes. Over the past few weeks, DiBiase has taunted Grimes while this week he distracted Grimes during his match with Jake Atlas, causing him the loss.
It was already announced that next week Franky Monet is set to make her in-ring debut while WWE NXT Title will be on the line as Karrion Kross defends against Finn Balor in a rematch.
On a related note, Legado del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde are the new number-one contenders following a win over Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher, per the announcement by GM, Regal. The win came after interference by The Grizzled Young Veterans. Wilde and Mendoza will challenge NXT Tag Team Champions MSK for the titles on the June 1 episode.
