After a break of more than a couple of months, Ronda Rousey returned to WWE TV during the May 15 episode of Monday Night Raw. The return seemingly teased that she’s going after the women’s tag team titles alongside her tag partner Shayna Baszler. However, there could be certain ifs and buts to be addressed before the new champions could be crowned.
Ronda Rousey was injured on the Road to WrestleMania which changed the original plans for the Show of Shows where she was going to be the champion alongside Baszler. Then the plans were changed due to the injury as Becky Lynch and Lita went on to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Lynch even admitted that winning the tag titles with Lita was not the original plan at all.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now noted that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles are seemingly “cursed.” WWE always wanted to get Ronda Rousey her run with those titles. Now that she’s back, many do think that will eventually happen. But the source informed that she’s planned on taking a break from the company,
“The timing of this is an issue because Rousey is planning on taking time off at a certain time frame which was before WrestleMania, and the story was to end well before that. They would have to speed up the storyline if Rousey doesn’t extend her stay because the original plan was to establish the team as champions for a while and then do the actual storyline that this was to build to.”
Ronda Rousey’s title win could be preponed due to Liv Morgan’s injury
To make things worse, one-half of the women’s tag team champions, Liv Morgan has been in an injured state and there’s no confirmed update on her return which means that a proper feud between the team of Ronda Rousey-Shayna Baszler and Liv Morgan-Raquel Rodriguez could not be planned,
“The women’s tag title obviously depends upon the severity of Morgan’s injury. The women’s tag titles have been cursed since Rousey & Baszler were supposed to win them at Mania and the titles were only step one in a longer-term Rousey storyline.”
Time will tell what direction WWE heads into regarding these women’s tag team titles. With Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler attacking Raquel Rodriguez on Raw during the return, they should be on a dominant streak, for the time being. Also, it’ll be interesting to see whether The Baddest Woman on the Planet would indeed head into yet another hiatus from the WWE.
