To the excitement of the WWE Universe, John Cena has returned to the WWE programming, last month for a regular schedule on the Smackdown brand. As it appeared, he didn’t miss a show or a pay-per-view for the time being but going by his gesture on this week’s Smackdown, time could be very much limited for him.

Last night, John Cena came out to the ring and said that he was hit with a hard fact which is that he hadn’t won a singles match in the WWE for the last 2,002 days. His last singles win on television came in 2018 at Saudi Arabia’s inaugural pay-per-view named WWE Greatest Royal Rumble against Triple H.

John Cena Headed Into WWE Fastlane 2023 With A Disappointing Record

Then John Cena said he’s been thinking about retirement and stated the following, “It’s been a long time since I had a win.” The sold-out San Antonio crowd had the “you still got it” chants to charge him back but there were some serious concerns about him making a big announcement on the show.

Eventually, John Cena bounced back and stated that he believed in himself and it was time to break that unfortunate streak that lasted for 2000+ days. He issued a challenge to the next person to come out through that ramp. It was Solo Sikoa who got into a brawl, but Jimmy Uso helped Solo to make it a two-on-one situation. Jey Uso came out to make the save while Cena took out Solo with an Attitude Adjustment.

John Cena planned to visit Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia for a match

While nothing is confirmed regarding the immediate future of John Cena, the belief is that he will continue with his WWE appearances for the time being, perhaps until Survivor Series 2023. Ringside News was previously able to confirm with a tenured member of the WWE creative team that the veteran is booked to wrestle at Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia scheduled for early November. Reports previously noted how Roman Reigns could be his opponent in their third encounter. But that match has officially been scrapped.

With John Cena’s ongoing rivalry unfolding with The Bloodline, each week, it’s evident to believe that he could end up facing the likes of Solo Sikoa or Jimmy Uso in a singles contest. The official announcement should likely happen during next week’s Smackdown.
