WWE Smackdown delivered the post-Stomping Grounds episode last night that mostly started fresh storylines. New championship matches targeting Extreme Rules started to build up notably the men and women’s division belts. Plus, we anticipated what could be the fallout of a sudden Undertaker return on Raw. Check out the results from this week’s show that took place at the Moda Center in Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon.

WWE News: The Undertaker To Team Up With Roman Reigns At Extreme Rules

Shane McMahon cut a backstage promo on the attack of the Undertaker on Raw to open things on Smackdown. Inside the ring, The New Day appeared as Kofi Kingston mentioned the cowardly attack of Samoa Joe on Raw. Soon, Dolph Ziggler interrupted saying that he will compete in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match against Kofi. If he wins then at Extreme Rules, he competes in a triple threat title match alongside Joe and Kofi.

The opening match of Smackdown featured the lineup of Xavier Woods and Big E vs. Daniel Bryan and Rowan. E took control of the match by hitting a pair of belly-to-belly overhead suplexes followed by a belly-to-belly side suplex. Bryan countered with the LeBell Lock but E caught him with a Uranage. Woods tagged in as they hit the Midnight Hour to get the win. Owens and Zayn attacked New Day from behind but Heavy Machinery made the save.

This set up an eight-man tag team match on Smackdown with the lineup of The New Day and Heavy Machinery vs. Daniel Bryan, Rowan, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens. Otis hit Zayn with a spinning scoop slam before avalanching him in the corner followed by a Caterpillar. He then tagged in Tucker to hit the Compactor successfully on Zayn to get the win.

The Miz took on Elias in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match on Smackdown, next with the stipulation if he beats Elias, he’ll face Shane McMahon. Elias picked up the first fall by countering a springboard with a knee and connecting with the Drift Away. The match continued with Miz successfully landing Skull Crushing Finale but Shane McMahon attacked him to award the second pinfall to Miz. McMahon mocked Roman Reigns and hit Miz with a spear after which Elias connected with a top rope elbow drop to get the third pinfall. After the match, Shane hit Miz with a Coast-To-Coast.

Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley took on Nikki Cross in a match. If Cross wins, Alexa Bliss will get a rematch for the title at Extreme Rules. Cross took control of the match with a neck-breaker but Bayley countered with a swinging back suplex. She went to the top rope but missed the cross-body block. Bayley rolled Nikki up who reversed the pinfall attempt to beat Bayley. Alexa Bliss will now have a rematch at Extreme Rules for the Smackdown women’s title.

WWE News: Alexa Bliss Had Breast Implant Surgery To Recover From Eating Disorder

At backstage, superstars continue chasing R-Truth to take away his 24/7 Championship. The champ was able to escape with Carmella, somehow. Back in the ring, Sonya Deville competed in a match against Ember Moon who hit an Enziguiri followed by a drop-kick to take control. But Mandy Rose distracted her allowing Deville to hit Moon face-first onto the mat to pick up the win.

The main event of Smackdown featured a 2-out-of-3 Falls match where Dolph Ziggler took on WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. The stipulation was if Ziggler wins he gets another title match at Extreme Rules. Kingston pinned Ziggler with a roll-up for the first pinfall. An irate Ziggler hit a zig-zag followed by a superkick for the second pinfall. Kingston hit a sit out powerbomb for a near fall. Ziggler cam back sending him into the ring post. But Kofi avoided a superkick and connected with a Trouble in Paradise to get the third pinfall. Thus, the WWE title match at Extreme Rules remains Kofi vs. Joe as Ziggler failed to earn the shot.
