Extreme Rules and Crown Jewel builds will run simultaneously on this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown. A mainstream celebrity will be onboard, possibly to begin a new storyline with Roman Reigns. Plus, there will be a contenders’ match for the tag team championships. Ronda Rousey will also be in attendance at the show that takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Unified WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast after which Logan claimed that he could defeat the champion. Roman was offended by the comments as he claimed to ‘bestow upon’ the wisdom that Logan Paul desperately lacks.
Logan wanted to know from Heyman what he actually plans on doing but it was WWE chief content officer Triple H who sent an invitation to Logan for an appearance on WWE Smackdown,
“…It just so happens I have a globally televised platform to allow our Superstars to “handle” their issues with one another … consider this an invite for #Smackdown tomorrow night!”

It has since been promoted that the celebrity YouTuber will appear on WWE Smackdown, possibly to throw a new challenge to Roman, possibly for a match at Crown Jewel 2022. Roman isn’t scheduled to perform at Extreme Rules, as of this writing. Before this, Roman defeated Drew McIntyre to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WWE Clash at the Castle 2022 premium live event.

WWE Smackdown Preview (16/09/22): Drew McIntyre-Karrion Kross
Drew McIntyre’s main event matchup against Solo Sikoa on last week’s WWE Smackdown came to an end after Karrion Kross suddenly attacked McIntyre from behind. By applying the Kross Jacket submission, he passed out the Scottish Warrior which was the second attack from Kross on the top babyface superstar since Summerslam.
Kross has been clear in his message that he wants to reset the timeline. Now in the latest episode of WWE Smackdown, McIntyre should be waiting with vengeance in mind that should automatically set up Kross vs. McIntyre for Extreme Rules. This should be the main event of the upcoming PLE in absence of Roman Reigns.
Ronda Rousey became the number-one contender to Liv Morgan’s WWE SmackDown Women’s Title by winning a Fatal-5-Way Elimination Match last week by defeating the likes of Xia Li, Sonya Deville, Natalya, and Lacey Evans. Rousey won the match by submitting Deville with the Ankle Lock submission hold.
Following the win, Rousey vs. Morgan was announced for Extreme Rules 2022 PLE. Morgan was seen sitting in the rafters watching the match and she sounded pretty confident in defeating the Baddest Woman on the Planet in a rematch at the October event. Tonight, the two are expected to feature in a confrontation segment.
In another confirmed segment for WWE Smackdown, The New Day, The Street Profits, Alpha Academy, and Los Lotharios will battle it out for a tag team title match opportunity in a Fatal-4-Way contest. This match originally went down on last week’s Raw but Braun Strowman made his return to ruin the contest. Tonight, we finally expect to have new challengers for The Usos via the rematch.
