This week’s WWE Smackdown was headlined by Ronda Rousey who competed in a singles capacity after almost three years. A new Intercontinental Champion was crowned on the show while the tag team titles were also on the line. Plus, Roman Reigns was there to cut a fired-up promo on Brock Lesnar on the show that took place at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida. Check out the results from the show,
– Ricochet defeated Sami Zayn (c) to win the Intercontinental Championship in the opening match of WWE SmackDown via distraction from Johnny Knoxville. The Jackass star came out and distracted Zayn in a move that allowed Ricochet to deliver a modified hurricunrana to get the pinfall win.
WWE Smackdown Superstar To Receive Big Babyface Push Ahead Of Wrestlemania 38
– In a backstage segment, an irate Zayn proceeded to challenge Knoxville to a match at WrestleMania 38. Later, Knoxville gave an interview to Kayla Braxton to confirm the match with Zayn.
– Austin Theory came out to get into Pat McAfee’s face and thereby reveal him to be his opponent at WrestleMania 38 opponent. Theory slapped him into the face before leaving while Michael Cole confirmed Pat vs. Theory at the Show of Shows.
Wrestlemania 38: Two Top Female Superstars To Miss WWE PPV
– Naomi defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Carmella in the next match on WWE Smackdown. Sasha Banks took out Queen Zelina Vega with a Meteora as she was trying to interfere in the match. Mella hit the split-legged moonsault for the pin to win.
– Drew McIntyre defeated Jinder Mahal with his pendant Claymore Kick to get a dominant win on Smackdown. Prior to the match, Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss taunted Drew for their Wrestlemania match. After the match, Drew sent a warning to Corbin ahead of their match to keep him in a worrying state.
– Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs were coming out when WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos attacked them from behind so that WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns can come out to grace the show.
A huge “Roman” chant broke out in his home state arena as Reigns told Miami to acknowledge him and they did. Reigns addressed his ‘Mania opponent Brock Lesnar and promised to smash him just like he did to each of his opponents.
Reigns ended his promo by saying,
“I’m like Babe Ruth around here. I can take my shots and deliver every time.”
“At WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar will acknowledge me.”
WWE Smackdown Results (04/03/22): Tag Team Titles Match
– The Usos (c) defeated The Viking Raiders to retain WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. After hitting two back-to-back superkicks on Erik, The Usos delivered the 1D (fka the 3D) for the pin to win.
– Sheamus and Ridge Holland attacked The New Day on their way to the ring and stole their ATV truck. The heels then destroyed the vehicle, backstage.
– Ronda Rousey defeated Sonya Deville (with WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair) in the main event match. After planting Deville with Piper’s Pit, Rousey submitted her with the armbar submission. After the match, Ronda put Charlotte in the Ankle Lock submission to make her tap out to end the show.
