Changing the original theme that’s been ongoing for several years, Survivor Series 2022 will feature WarGames matches, instead. It’s been confirmed by WWE via an official statement that the Raw vs. Smackdown theme has been altered and there will be two WarGames matches – one for men and the other from the women’s division.
Under the leadership of Triple H, WWE NXT treated the fans with some hardcore wrestling moments and some of those came in the form of NXT WarGames. Now Survivor Series 2022 will bring the same feel to the main roster, as well.
It appears that the special gift for the hardcore fans will go down during the Fall. The 2021 edition of WarGames was the fifth annual version of the match we should be gearing up for the sixth one, down the road.
Triple H took over the WWE creative from Vince McMahon and hence it’s confirmed that WWE’s November classic in the form of WWE Survivor Series 2022 WarGames is set to return. After all, there’s no Vince McMahon who would think twice to introduce any NXT concept for Raw and Smackdown. Now, Triple H is calling the shots, everywhere.

Brad Shepard was the first to a recent report that WarGames is coming back and that Survivor Series 2022 weekend is the most likely place to see the matches happen. According to a source close to WWE, Triple H wanted this old-school gimmick match to return to WWE mainstay programming. Hence, Raw and SmackDown superstars will be able to battle inside the caged structure.
“A source in #WWE told me Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque wants to bring War Games to the main roster for a show. One possibility discussed was Survivor Series.”
Triple H confirmed Survivor Series 2022 WarGames return for November
After Brad Shepard exclusively reported that WWE is bringing back WarGames, it didn’t take Triple H very long to confirm the same news as he appeared on The Ringer and revealed potential plans for WWE’s annual Survivor Series 2022 PLE.
It was confirmed that two separate matches will be contested inside the dual steel structure. Here’s more from the comments of Triple H,
“We’ll have a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that. This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more story-line driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it’s large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve.”
Survivor Series 2022 PLE has been confirmed to go down on Saturday, November 26th, at the TD Garden in Boston. This one is a Big-Four pay-per-view and WWE wants to host this one in a bigger way. The same event will also wrap up the WWE Networks Specials schedule for this year.
