With a lack of trusted main-eventers available for bigger events, many thought WWE would take a safe direction for Survivor Series 2023. After a backstage segment from this week’s Raw, many thought that WWE would choose the two top respective main-eventers from the Raw and Smackdown brand to set up the marquee match for the final PLE of this year which reportedly isn’t the case.
Rumors had it that Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns could end up becoming the main event of Survivor Series 2023 which will also essentially bring back the Raw vs. Smackdown theme for the annual PLE. However, WWE is not going in that usual direction as per the latest reports.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has taken a lot of shots at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in recent times. During this week’s Raw, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley advised Rollins to join forces with The Judgment Day, like The Bloodline which was essentially a pep-talk to become like Roman.
Rollins stated the following to turn down the offer, “Let me make this clear, if there’s one thing I don’t want, it’s to be anything like Roman Reigns.” This began speculation that WWE was planting seeds for a Raw vs. SmackDown – Champion vs. Champion main event match between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at Survivor Series 2023.

Survivor Series 2023: Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns isn’t the plan
Dave Meltzer discussed this topic on Wrestling Observer Radio to reveal that there are currently no plans for a champion vs. champion match between Rollins and Reigns at Survivor Series 2023, despite some speculation having arisen from Raw.
Bryan Alvarez stated, “It seemed like they were maybe building up to a Roman Reigns Seth Rollins match down the road” in response to which Dave Meltzer said, “I didn’t sense that.”
Bryan then mentioned how Rollins vs. Reigns has been a safe choice for the WWE. Meltzer then stated that at least WWE is not going to that predicted route for Survivor Series 2023, “They’re not going to do that. I can tell you for sure. That’s not on this year’s Survivor Series.”
WWE Survivor Series 2023 will take place at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday, November 25. Roman Reigns is still slated to headline the show while the WarGames structure is also reportedly returning for the show.
