Wrestlemania 38 is amped up, ever than before with the inclusion of Stone Cold Steve Austin into the match card. Without a doubt, the WWE Hall of Famer is regarded as one of the best pro wrestling characters if not the best. Perhaps no other superstar hadn’t appealed to an audience like him while competing in the squared circle. There won’t ever be any matchups to his contributions to the world of professional wrestling.
Recent reports suggest that Austin is training hard for a fight scene at WrestleMania 38. As reported on previous occasions, WWE was discussing an in-ring angle for the legendary name so that he can compete in a match. Ringside News reported that this match was never really in the cards, though but rather a KO Show segment has always been the idea.
Wrestlemania 38: WWE’s Current Plans Around Stone Cold Appearance
WWE officials wanted Austin to do an actual match but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the scheduled match has since been changed. The latest report suggests that Austin agreed to do the segment having a “fight sequence” at Wrestlemania 38 but not compete in an actual match.
Wrestlemania 38: Stone Cold to do more than just a stunner
The report also noted how The Texas Rattlesnake has been increasing his cardio work as of late so that he could look in shape while doing that fight sequence. The current plan for the segment at WrestleMania 38 calls for a “fight scene” and it would be more than just a quick Stone Cold Stunner to Owens.
“It is planned for more than just a stunner, although the stunner would appear to be the obvious conclusion. There was still talk about an angle leading to a match if Austin were to agree to it, but they felt they needed to announce Austin on the show this week.
What we do know is that Austin has been upping his cardio, so the plan is for a fight scene, and not just a quick stunner.”
Stone Cold did get physical at several sequences in a WWE ring since retiring in 2003 but he never competed in a full-length match, since then. WWE is now promoting his WrestleMania 38 segment as his first physical confrontation in 19 years. Austin also noted in his promo saying that he’s coming to the AT&T Stadium to open “one final can of whoop-ass” on The Prizefighter.
