WWE has set up an interesting angle on this past episode of Smackdown Live involving Roman Reigns. Someone tried to bury him under a ton of steel to potentially end his career. He was able to escape the scene but could not avoid partial damage to his body. This was an angle so that he could find himself in the Summerslam match card, next week.

Speculations are going on about who could be the name behind this attack as he would be the obvious opponent for Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2019. Initially, a Twitter user noted that he spotted Buddy Murphy leaving the scene after the attack happened on Smackdown. But it looks like the former Cruiserweight Champion is not debuting on the main roster, yet.

Instead, there will be a solid matchup in-store for Summerslam 2019 featuring Roman Reigns. As per the reports of wrestlingINC.com, Daniel Bryan is the one behind this attack ensuring that he will be the one to take on the Big Dog on August 11th. There’s no surety whether WWE will reveal Bryan as the attacker in due course.

But it’s almost certain that Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns will work in a program in the foreseeable future, (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
“Reigns vs. Bryan (with Rowan) is being advertised for live events in the fall, including both RAW and SmackDown television tapings at Madison Square Garden in early September, as well as the upcoming WWE live event at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ on September 28th.”
This won’t be the first time that Roman Reigns will involve in a program against Daniel Bryan, though. They have a short feud in 2015 culminating a matchup at WWE Fastlane over the main-event spotlight. Reigns ended up winning the match resulting another match against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31.
As for now, Daniel Bryan has been teasing “a career-altering announcement” for weeks. But he never uttered a word when asked for it. On the other hand, Roman Reigns was about to issue a challenge for Summerslam on this past edition of Smackdown. But he could not do this due to the sudden ambush by the mystery attacker.
