This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with AEW President Tony Khan announcing that he stripped CM Punk of the AEW World Championship and Kenny Omega & Young Bucks of the AEW World Trios Championship. This came after all these names were involved in a major backstage fight after the All Out 2022 PPV event, this past Sunday night.
Per Khan, the title has been in a vacated state and a tournament would be underway to crown a new champion. It began with last night’s AEW Dynamite itself, with former AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page taking on Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson. The winner was announced to face “The Wizard” Chris Jericho on next week’s episode in Albany, New York.
