Brock Lesnar surprise the world by entering the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match and then by winning the entire melee. He pulled off double duties on the night which is a pretty rare case scenario for the top Superstar. He only wrestles in the company for a handful of occasions through his part-time schedule.
Recently, it was noted how another top Raw Superstar Riddle was originally planned to win the Rumble. But now reports claim that WWE had plans in line for Brock Lesnar to win the match, all along and it wasn’t a last-minute thing for sure.

Ringside News noted that The Original Bro was never planned to win the Royal Rumble match. The source was told by a tenured member of the creative team that the report about plans for Riddle to win the Royal Rumble match “is not true.” The writers were informed at least, “two weeks prior to the Royal Rumble” that the winner was going to be none other than Brock Lesnar.
Brock Lesnar was always the favorite to win Rumble 2022
The creative team may not have been aware of the Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley finish, but they “were told Brock was winning the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match.” Leading up to the Rumble, Lesnar always remained the favorite to come out as the winner of the Rumble, per the betting odds, as well. The source also noted things were “kept pretty quiet but the talent was told this early in the day” before the Royal Rumble premium live event started about Lesnar’s win.
Various reports previously informed how there were a lot of different endings for the Royal Rumble match as the planning process was changed, throughout. This was a major source of frustration for the male talents, but Brock Lesnar was slated to win way ahead of time which affirms that he was always there in the planning for Wrestlemania 38 main event.
Brock Lesnar has already been confirmed for the Universal Championship match at Mania against Roman Reigns should the latter remains the champion until then. Plus, he is also set to receive an opportunity to the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber to set up a title vs. title bout at the biggest stage.
