Christian made a surprising return at this past Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view making the professional wrestling fans delighted. Most of the members of the professional wrestling universe thought that they might never see Captain Charisma back in action ever again. But he came back and delivered a great performance during the over-the-top-rope contest.
Lasting for 18 minutes Christian eliminated a couple of superstars from the match before being eliminated by Seth Rollins. Now the question is that whether he would be back for more matches in the near future. If insider reports are to be believed then he was secretly cleared last week for an in-ring return just before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

So, the hope is that we can expect to see him at least a couple of matches, down the road. It seems the current Intercontinental Champion Big E is interested in facing one of the most decorated champions in the history of WWE. E recently took to Twitter and uploaded a photo of him standing in the ring with the former world champion.

Why Christian vs Big E never happened in 2014
— Ettore “Big E” Ewen (@WWEBigE) February 2, 2021
Christian became the number-one contender for the Intercontinental Championship back in 2014. At that time Big E was the champion and the two were set to face off in a championship match on an episode of WWE Main Event. Unfortunately, due to concussion-related issues the former New Day member never received that dream match.
The picture Big E uploaded was from that night where Christian captured the contender’s spot, which certainly makes fans wonder whether the two can finally deliver the match that never happened. Eventually, E has become the IC Champion for the second time in his career as his singles career has just kicked off in late 2020.
In a backstage interview after the Royal Rumble match, Christian mentioned how it was surreal to return to the ring after a gap of 7 long years. He felt like to be home after getting hit in the match who’s definitely ready to experience some more with the ‘one more match’ campaign still being intact. So who knows if Big E ends up facing the former IC Champion in a big match in the future?
