Chelsea Green didn’t have a great debut on the main roster as she’s expected. She has suffered a broken wrist during her first match, this past Friday on SmackDown. As reported previously, Green had to undergo surgery on her left wrist, the next morning. As per her tweet, she has begun the road to recovery and it’s going, pretty well.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer that the series of events that followed on SmackDown was due to the chaotic script situation prior to the show. He also explained how Chelsea Green was inserted into the situation in a hurried manner. In fact, she was scheduled to pick up the win but that decision was altered due to injury.

How Chelsea Green's Injury Changed WWE Survivor Series 2020 Plans 1

SmackDown had an entire script ready to go, this week but Vince McMahon completely changed it. Then Green was suggested by some of the writers. Since she lives close to the ThunderDome in Orlando, Florida, the decision was made to bring her to the show. So, it all happened in a quick manner just because she lives in a nearby location.

“Chelsea Green was not on that show, but she lives close and you know somehow, someway someone suggested to Vince or Bruce that Chelsea Green go over, and she’s there, and so Liv Morgan, when the show was originally written Liv Morgan was going to win a match to go to Survivor Series, and she ended up doing that.” (Transcription by Ringside News)

Meltzer also informed that Chelsea Green was set to win the Fatal 4-Way Survivor Series qualifier against Natalya, Tamina Snuka, and Liv Morgan. Those plans had to be altered after Green bumped off the apron by Morgan and got legitimately hurt. She was forced to lay outside the ring until the finish of the match and as a result, Morgan ended up being a part of Team SmackDown.

As noted earlier, Liv Morgan was reportedly the initial choice to win the qualifier until “Vince McMahon tore up the script”, Thursday night. In the original script, a three-way match was scheduled and Chelsea Green was definitely not a part of it. However, “someone suggested to Vince” that Green was ready for her debut, which set up the match as a Fatal 4-Way, according to Meltzer.

It was also stated by the source that Chelsea Green was originally planned to make her debut on Monday Night Raw earlier this year, while Paul Heyman used to be the Executive Director for the show. He specifically demanded the former NXT star to be on the red brand. However, those plans were dropped after Heyman was postponed while Green also tested positive for COVID-19.
