Being a WWE Superstar brings a ton of privileges while it also imposes a lot of baggage that one has to deal with and Sonya Deville is perhaps the biggest example. Starting with 2017, she’s enjoyed being with the WWE mainstay league but this also brought some horrifying experiences, down the road.
On August 16, 2020, Sonya Deville went through a terrible experience that she will never forget. The former WWE on-screen official had an unwelcoming experience in her house as a stalker, broke into her home, ready to take her hostage. Due to her consciousness, the culprit, Phillip A. Thomas II, 24, from South Carolina, was arrested at the scene.
After taking into custody, Phillip was charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief. He was found incompetent to stand trial during a court hearing last May after which he was sent to a mental health facility.

Speaking about the incident, Sonya Deville told Forbes that she continues to deal with this kind of threat. Plus, she also shared her story to be an inspiration to the masses so that it could help others,
“I don’t think I’ve really figured it out yet. I feel like I’m just kind of taking it day by day and trying to figure out where that line is. I mean, at the end of the day, I choose to be in the spotlight and I choose to share my story and my journey to an extent with the fans because I think that it could help.”

Sonya Deville has a simple message for the WWE Universe
Sonya Deville also sent a message to the WWE Universe by saying that as a superstar of the company, she loves to be in touch with them and interact with them. But at a certain point, they should know about the boundaries,
“I just encourage the fans always to appreciate that and respect that we love you guys, and we want to interact with you guys, and we want to have fun and be able to DM you back, and message you back, and interact. But, you know, they got to know where the line is, too.”
The former Absolution member is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and hence she was part of the celebration of pride month, earlier this year. It was in 2015 that Sonya Deville came out as a lesbian during her WWE tryout on Tough Enough. Her signing with the WWE eventually made her the first openly gay female wrestler in the company.
After a decent run with the NXT brand, the 28-year-old superstar started on the WWE main roster as part of the Absolution team alongside Mandy Rose and Paige in 2017.
Sonya Deville’s final WWE storyline was a love triangle involving Mandy Rose, Dolph Ziggler, and Otis. She then lost a “Loser Leaves WWE” match to Rose at Summerslam 2020 when the terrifying stalker experience surrounded her. After suffering the loss to Rose, she took some time off to deal with the after-effects of that incident. Then she returned on TV, last year by becoming a WWE Official with Adam Pearce, before being released from the position in May due to abuse of power.
