John Cena’s return to WWE in a full-time schedule was a big surprise for the fans as they weren’t expecting to see him coming back at this point. Later, reports claimed that the opportunity for his comeback was facilitated by the SAG-AFTRA Strike, as the whole of Hollywood came to a halt, all of a sudden. His future with WWE still remains unclear after the strike is over.
Additionally, chances of announcing retirement from WWE as well as in-ring competition seemed getting closer for him. On the February 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, John Cena said his last televised singles win was 2,002 days ago, back in 2018. He also teased at retirement until the fans showed their support and chanted “you still got it.”
John Cena said he believes in himself and it was the time for him to break this unfortunate streak. For the time being, the retirement issue was put down but the segment forced the fans to start chattering about the future of The Cenation Leader’s career.

John Cena not heading into imminent retirement
Sean Sapp was asked about the current status during about the 19-time world champion during a Q&A behind his paywall. He stated that it’s unknown what the veteran will do next but WWE expects him to stick around until the actors’ strike is totally over. No such situation was mentioned regarding an impending retirement.
“That’s what WWE certainly believes, but they definitely have him, at least, through these appearances through October. He is set for tonight’s SmackDown. He is set for next week’s SmackDown … then after that it is question marks,” the source told about John Cena.
“After that they’re doing Hamburg Germany and Berlin and London, all that stuff, but as a result of him being on the October 27th show, he will also be on the November 3rd show, because they’re doing a double taping that night.” (quotes courtesy Ringside News)
Moreover, John Cena recently took to Instagram to post a photo from The Wolf of Wall Street movie from 2013 which was from the moment when Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) said he was not leaving. This was another tease that he’s not leaving or retiring from WWE anytime soon. Reports suggest that WWE has him booked in a match against Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in early November.
