A lot of speculations were going on about WWE shuffling the current announce team for both WWE Raw and Smackdown. With the new seasons kicking off on two different host platforms, it was evident to happen. Now the company has confirmed that there will be some major changes is coming to the commentary booth of both their premier brands.

WWE.com has now issued an official statement addressing the big alterations on the premiere week. The commentary teams on both WWE Raw and Smackdown will be different, entirely starting from the September 30 episode of WWE Raw. A Hall of Famer will be back on board in a position that he stayed for over a decade whereas the current Raw panel will move to Smackdown. Here’s more from the website of the WWE,
“As part of WWE Premiere Week, new voices will be brought to the Raw, NXT and SmackDown broadcasts. Raw’s new announce team will include play-by-play from Vic Joseph with Dio Maddin and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler serving as analysts; NXT play-by-play will be called by Mauro Ranallo with Beth Phoenix and Nigel McGuiness as analysts; and SmackDown will feature Michael Cole handling play-by-play, Corey Graves serving as analyst and Renee Young as a Special Contributor.”

John Morrison Re-Signs With WWE, Returning Soon
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE is intending to use Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler for a short period. Officials are considering a different name to replace Jerry on a full-time basis. Mickie James could be an option since she is playing the role of guest commentator on WWE Main Event show. However, there’s no confirmed update on who the replacement could be.

Also, PWInsider.com hinted that several WWE Legends will fly to Los Angeles to audition for a role on FS1 show named WWE Backstage. Renee Young is the confirmed name to host this alongside Booker T. But the idea is to switch between these personalities on different weeks. There have also been discussions of having more than 3 names on the commentary booth since FOX have experimented with a booth featuring 3 to 5 people. Cathy Kelley is a rumored name in this context who could be splitting her time between NXT and the new series, going forward.
