WrestleMania 37 was a massive success for the WWE and they intend to carry forward the season for one more month with the announcement of WrestleMania Backlash PPV. In the past, Backlash had been used to bring the fallouts of the Biggest Event of the Year, but this will be the first time that the name WrestleMania has officially been added.
WrestleMania Backlash is right around the corner and as you can guess by the name that the event is likely to witness a few rematches from the bygone two-night spectacle. SmackDown hasn’t announced any match for the upcoming show while Raw has confirmed a rematch for the WWE Championship, already. More matches are expected and we now have an update.
WWE Legend The Rock Buys $27.8 Million House In Beverly Hills
During Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match lineup won’t be any different than Mania. Natalya and Tamina won a Women’s Tag Team Turmoil match on Night One of the Show of Shows but they lost to the champions – Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler during the second night. But the program is still on, eyeing a match at WrestleMania Backlash.
Natalya scored a pinfall win over Shayna Baszler on RAW, this past week which is a clear indication that these two teams are not finished with each other yet. The source mentioned that WWE is going to continue Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler’s feud with Natalya and Tamina through WrestleMania Backlash on May 16.
It should be noted that despite the strength shown by the challengers in recent times, WWE booked a clean win for the champions at WrestleMania. So, they’re likely to re-build the program over the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles before officially announcing the rematch.
Potential Raw Women’s Title match at Wrestlemania Backlash
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also opened up about WWE Raw Women’s Title Match at WrestleMania Backlash. It’s pretty much clear that Charlotte Flair will be included in the title match. The question remains in what capacity it would be set up. Perhaps, the answer will be received, tonight.
Flair and Asuka are set to compete in a one-on-one battle, this Monday on RAW, and the booking of the match could set up the upcoming title match,
“If Charlotte Flair and Asuka ends in a non-finish then they’re probably going to do a three-way. If Charlotte Flair wins then we’ll probably get Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley, so that’s not a [WrestleMania] rematch.”
