WWE NXT Champion Karrion Kross is back at the top of the world as he defeated Finn Balor to win the gold at the bygone NXT TakeOver Stand and Deliver two-night event. After the failure of a solid title reign in the first attempt due to shoulder injury, this time around, he’s expected to rule the NXT roster for a long time.
Recently, Karrion Kross spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to note a few topics including his real-life relationship with manager Scarlett who is also his real-life girlfriend.
He mentioned how Scarlett helped in taking care of him when he suffered a shoulder injury in 2020. He was fully overwhelmed by the love and care Scarlett had poured into the recovery process.
“While WWE medical was treating me the night I got hurt, she was already researching a recovery course I could start immediately the night it happened,” Karrion Kross said. “She drove me to pick up a very specific machine from the Performance Center that helped ice the injury, and she helped me in the initial stages of rehab later that very night.”
“She asked me if I needed to go to the hospital and I said, ‘No, I need to go to Wendy’s and grab a Baconator.’ She’s the love of my life. A lot of people don’t know we’re a couple in real life, but we are. She helped me through this entire process, psychologically and physically.”
Update On Finn Balor Possibly Moving To Main Roster From WWE NXT
Karrion Kross had doubts about his ability after his return
Karrion Kross mentioned that he was periodically concerned about not coming back in a similar shape prior to the injury. He was also in confusion about how his body would respond while hitting the canvas. But Scarlett was present there for him in every step to provide courage. She specified the dos and don’ts during that tough time of his career when he was sidelined from the competition.
The reigning NXT then revealed that he was given three recovery options from that devastating injury, with different timetables for a return. Two would have kept him away for 6-8 months, while the third option would’ve sidelined him for 8-12 months. He opted out of surgery but he remained focus with the rehab who got back strength within 6 weeks. Later, WWE’s medical team medically cleared him to return at around 4 months.
Rumor Killer On More WWE Releases Coming Soon
As mentioned above, Karrion Kross recently captured the NXT Title from Finn Balor at the “Takeover: Stand and Deliver” event. Heading into that match, he felt like it was the best version of himself. His onscreen TV character with Scarlett as the backup is meant to rack up for more accomplishments in the future. As of now, he wants a title run that would be unmatchable to none.
“We have a lot in store,” Karrion Kross said. “I have different layers people haven’t seen, ones I’ve been deliberating saving for the right time and the right moment.
There are so many stories to be told. Light versus dark, good versus evil, and I’m going to take you there. I have a lot more to prove. Stay tuned.”
