WWE Survivor Series 2021 opener witnessed RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defeating SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. This was a much-anticipated non-title champion vs. champion battle which was hyped up by the real-life heat between the two superstars. WWE Universe didn’t have to wait long to witness as this appeared to be the opening bout of the main card.
As seen at WWE Survivor Series 2021, Lynch gained the pinfall win by one-upping Flair with a roll-up using the ropes as leverage which the referee didn’t see. Lynch then spoke with WWE Raw backstage interviewer Sarah Schreiber after the match and got really emotional while talking about her former best friend in Flair.
Becky Lynch was emotional at WWE Survivor Series 2021
Schreiber congratulated Lynch on the WWE Survivor Series 2021 win and asked if this was the most emotional win of her career. In return, The Man had to say the following,
“Yeah, even watching the video packages, I got a little bit emotional, you know?” Lynch stated as she had tears in her eyes. “Because, you know… to see every… to see where we came from to where we are now, and the hatred here, the hatred going out there, and it’s just, its… it’s so sad, you know? Like that’s somebody who I loved so much, and who I trusted my life with, you know, and who… we’ve been through everything together.”
“We nearly died in a car crash together, and just how much we despise each other now… I just wanted to rip her apart out there, I wanted to rip her apart, and I didn’t break her arm like I wanted to, like I set out to do, and I don’t know if I’m happy or I’m sad about that, but I got the win and now she knows she can’t deny it. She can’t deny it, I’m the better woman.”
Becky Lynch Speaks On If WWE Survivor Series 2021 Needed Higher Stakes
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was watching WWE Survivor Series 2021 who commented on this emotional scene. Throwing props to the Raw Women’s Champion, the hardcore legend stated the following, “Good on you @BeckyLynchWWE. Our business is built on great rivalries, but it’s tough to make magic with someone you truly despise.”
Soon after this backstage segment following WWE Survivor Series 2021, Big Time Becks was back with her heel gimmick. Over on Twitter, she posted a photo of herself after the win and wrote, “Uh oh. #SurvivorSeries.” This was a jab towards Flair who uttered the same “Uh oh” words directing at her former four-horsewomen bestie.
Flair has not commented on her WWE Survivor Series 2021 match, as of this writing, but she did make a post-match tweet that had a photo from her entrance at the PPV.
