PKL: U Mumba thrash Delhi in one-sided contest

Vishakhapatnam, Dec 11: Continuing their winning streak, title favourites U Mumba thrashed Dabang Delhi 44-19 in a completely one-sided affair of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

Once again, U Mumba witnessed an all-round effort as its raiders and defenders put in a convincing display.

Siddharth Desai (12 points) and Rohit Baliyan (8 points) were excellent in raid department whereas skipper Fazel Atrachali got a high five and Surender Singh with four points marshalled the defence superbly.

Delhi struggled to get going against a robust opposition and one of its players had a standout match. Meraj Sheykh had a match to forget for Dabang Delhi as he failed to get off the mark.

Despite the defeat Dabang Delhi remain in the hunt for a place in the playoffs.

Rohit got U Mumba off to a quick start with two raids in two minutes to see them led 4-1. The first half saw Chandran Ranjit pick up a couple of raid points and no other raider from Dabang Delhi could get going.

It was Dabang Delhi’s defence that kept them in the first half. For U Mumba Rohit Baliyan was in fine form and Surender made crucial tackles at the back.

U Mumbai inflicted the first all out of the match in the 16th minute to lead 16-8. It was an impressive first half display from U Mumba as they went into the break leading 19-11.

Dabang Delhi were on equal footing at the start of the second half as they matched U Mumba point for point but still trailed 15-23 after 27 minutes.

Siddharth successful raid in the 30th minute led to another all out as U Mumba led 30-15.

After the second all out of the match U Mumba completely asserted the dominance. Delhi surrendered haplessly as in the last 10 minutes they could score just four points.

U Mumba inflicted another all out in the last five minutes and registered a comfortable 44-19 win in the end.

Pune, Nov 25: Haryana Steelers put up an accomplished team performance to register a much-needed 34-27 win over Dabang Delhi in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) clash at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex here on Sunday.

Vikas Kandola was the star performer as he scored 10 points and was ably supported by Naveen who chipped in with five points for Haryana.

Meanwhile Dabang Delhi’s Naveen Kumar also scored 10 raid points but his effort went in vain as he didn’t get enough support from his defence.

Haryana Steelers got off to a quick start to lead 2-0 after two minutes but Naveen Kumar levelled the match for Dabang Delhi with a two-point raid. It was a quiet first 10 minutes as both sides seemed to be measuring each other.

Haryana Steelers were trailing 5-7 and their star raider Monu Goyat was struggling to put points on the board.

Vikas Kandola got the bulk of raid points for Haryana Steelers in the first half. After 15 minutes both teams were locked in a tight battle with scores level at 9-9. Monu opened his account in the 17th minute to give Haryana Steelers 12-9 lead.

At the end of the first half Haryana Steelers led 13-10 with Dabang Delhi still very much in the game.

Vikas made a two-point raid at the start of the second half as Haryana extended their lead to 17-10. Haryana Steelers inflicted the first all out of the match in the 25th minute to lead 23-15.

Naveen Kumar had an excellent raiding game for Delhi as he consistently put the points on board.

After 30 minutes, Haryana Steelers were in the driving seat as they led 27-18. Haryana Steelers kept their nerve and composure in the last five minutes and went away with a convincing 34-27 win.

Pune, Nov 24: It was a sold team effort which saw U Mumba notching a comfortable 39-23 win over Dabang Delhi in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 6 match at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex here on Saturday.

Siddharth Desai and Rohit Baliyan combined to score 17 raid points whereas Fazel Atrachali and Surender chipped in with 8 tackle points to lead U Mumba to a win.

Chandran Ranjit was the lone performer for Dabang Delhi as he ended up with seven raid points while Naveen Kumar scored four points.

U Mumba are now back on the top of the table in Zone A with 62 points from 16 matches while Dabang Delhi are fourth in the table with 33 points from 12 matches.

U Mumba sent Meraj Sheykh to the bench in the 2nd minute to lead 2-1. Naveen started off brightly for Dabang Delhi as he got a couple of raid points. It was 3-3 after three minutes with both teams keen to snatch an early lead.

U Mumba got ahead with a couple of raid and tackle points to lead 8-5 after 11 minutes. Siddharth got into the act and hit a couple of successful raids
which led to an all out being inflicted on Dabang Delhi.

U Mumba led 14-6 after the all out and Dabang Delhi were staring at falling behind even further.

At the end of the first half, U Mumba led 15-8 and were looking on course to a comfortable win.

U Mumba started the second half by inflicting another all out in the 24th minute to lead 23-9. Dabang Delhi were looking short of ideas as both
their raiders and defenders were struggling.

Chandran Ranjit got a raid point as Dabang Delhi hit double figures. The Delhi defence sent back Siddharth to the bench and scored their second tackle point to trail 11-24.

But with Siddharth looking in fine form and U Mumba’s defence working in tandem there was no way for a comeback for Delhi.

U Mumba were in in cruise control mode for the last 10 minutes of the match and emerged comfortable winners.

Mumbai, Nov 15: Skipper Pardeep Narwal’s stunning performance helped defending champions Patna Pirates pip Dabang Delhi 38-35 in an inter-zonal clash of the sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Thursday.

Pardeep collected a total of 16 raid points while teammate Manjeet picked eight points to help Patna register their sixth win of the season.

On the other hand, Naveen Kumar also had a great game as the raider bagged 15 points but it wasn’t enough to stop Delhi from receiving their fifth loss this season.

The first four minutes saw successful raid and tackle attempts by both the sides with the score 3-3 before Naveen’s one-point raid and Pardeep’s attempt saw Delhi take a 5-3 lead.

Patna then saw some terrific effort from both their raiders and defenders as they not only cut the deficit but also took a 12-8 lead by the 11th minute.

Two minutes later, the defending champions inflicted an All Out to extend their lead to 16-10.

Delhi, however made a comeback in the final moments, collecting seven points in quick succession to make the issue 18-17 at half-time.

Delhi shifted gears in the second-half and took a 23-20 lead before Pardeep’s super raid tied the issue at 23-23 by the 23rd minute.

Naveen and Ranjit’s consecutive successful raids and some great tackling attempt helped Delhi again take a 26-23 lead. Naveen completed his super-10 to make the score 23-27.

Patna then collected two points in back to back attempts to move to 25 points and Manjeet’s another successful raid cut the deficit to one point, making the issue interesting with the score 26-27 by the 30th minute.

Delhi then rode Naveen and Ranjit successful attempts to take a 30-26 lead but the game took a u-turn in the last 10 minutes as the former faltered on some occasions, while Pardeep made great raid attempts to once again hand Patna a 37-33 lead before finally clinching the contest 38-35.

PKL: Interzone wild card contests from Dec 21 in Kolkata

Mumbai, Nov 10: On the opening day of the Mumbai leg of the ongoing sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) on Friday, League Commissioner Anupam Goswami and actor Vicky Kaushal held the draws for the wild card matches, which would be held during the Kolkata leg of the cash-rich league.

After the draw for the Interzone wild card matches, Dabang Delhi will take on Bengal Warriors, U Mumba will face UP Yoddhas, Jaipur Pink Panthers will clash against Bengaluru Bulls, Haryana Steelers will lock horns against Tamil Thalaivas, Puneri Paltan will be up against Telugu Titans, while defending champions Patna Pirates will square off against Gujarat Fortunegiants.

Significantly, the wild card stage is where each team plays a team from the other zone once, and the matchups are decided through a random draw, adding to the suspense and anticipation of fans.

The Interzone wild card contests are scheduled to take place between December 21 to 27 in Kolkata this year.

Vivo Pro Kabaddi League 2017: Bengaluru Bulls beat Dabang Delhi 35-32

In the clash of bottom-placed teams, it was Bengaluru Bulls who came out on top as they beat Dabang Delhi 35-32 in Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5. Rohit Kumar (12 points) and Ajay Kumar (10 points) led Bengaluru Bulls charge as they combined to score 22 raid points. Rohit Balliyan scored 11 points but was let down by his team’s defence as they scored just six tackle points. This was Dabang Delhi’s 15th loss of the season as their dismal campaign continued.

Dabang Delhi are bottom of the table in Zone A with 37 points from 21 matches. Bengaluru Bulls are fifth in Zone B with 44 points from 19 matches. Dabang Delhi have no hope of making it to the playoffs but Bengaluru Bulls still retain a chance.

Ajay Kumar got Bengaluru Bulls a 3-1 lead after three minutes as he scored two raid points. Dabang Delhi scored four points in the next few minutes to take 5-3 lead. Ajay Kumar scored with a two-point raid in the ninth minute as Bengaluru Bulls leveled the match at 6-6.

Rohit Balliyan and R Sriram did the bulk of raiding for Dabang Delhi and made it 8-6 in the 10th minute. In the next 10 minutes, Bengaluru Bulls dominated the proceedings. They inflicted an all out in the 17th minute to lead 12-9. Bengaluru Bulls led 17-9 at the end of the first half with Rohit Kumar and Ajay Kumar combining to score 11 raid points.

Rohit Balliyan scored with a super raid in the 24th minute as Dabang Delhi trailed 14-20. Bengaluru Bulls scored four points in five minutes as Bengaluru Bulls led 24-15 in the 30th minute. Rohit Kumar achieved a super 10 in the 33rdm minute as Bengaluru Bulls led 28-21.

Dabang Delhi inflicted an all out in the 36th minute as they trailed 27-30. Rohit Kumar thwarted any hopes of a Delhi comeback in the next minute as he came up with a two-point raid to give Bengaluru Bulls 32-27 lead. Ravinder Pahal achieved a high 5 for Bengalur Bulls in the 39th minute as Bengaluru Bulls 34-28. Dabang Delhi scored four points in the last minute but just fell short as they lost 32-35.

PKL: Tamil Thalaivas Down U Mumba, Delhi Pip Jaipur

Jaipur, Oct 10 (IANS) Tamil Thalaivas and Dabang Delhi registered victories in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Tuesday.

Star raider Ajay Thakur (15 points) inspired Tamil Thalaivas to a 38-35 win over U Mumba in an intra-zone clash.

Tamil Thalaivas now have 40 points from 20 matches and are fifth in the Zone B table. U Mumba are now fourth in Zone A with 56 points from 21 matches.

In the other contest of the day, Dabang Delhi edged out hosts Jaipur Pink Panthers 35-34 to dent the hopes of the Rajasthan outfit to qualify for the play-offs from Zone A.

Jaipur, however, still have a slim chance of moving to the next round.

The win brought a nine-match winless streak to an end for Delhi as they registered their fifth win of the campaign.

Meraj Sheykh scored seven points for Delhi and was ably supported by R. Sriram, who also scored seven points.

Nitin Rawal scored 14 points for Jaipur Pink Panthers but his effort went in vain.

Following the defeat, Jaipur are fifth in Zone with 51 points from 19 matches.

Delhi are bottom of the table with 36 points from 20 matches. The Capital side is already out of the race for qualification to the play-offs.

Telugu Titans Crush Dabang Delhi In PKL

New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS) Telugu Titans scored an impressive 44-22 victory as they inflicted eighth consecutive defeat on Dabang Delhi in an inter zone clash of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Thursday.

It was Delhi’s overall 13th defeat of their disappointing campaign. Rahul Chaudhri got all the plaudits as he ended up with 16 points for Telugu Titans.

Abolfazl Maghsodlou scored seven points in a poor effort from Dabang Delhi.

Dabang Delhi are bottom of the table in Zone A with 31 points from 18 matches. Telugu Titans are fourth in Zone B with 43 points from 19 matches.

Haryana Overwhelm Delhi In PKL

New Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Dabang Delhi suffered a third successive defeat following a 24-42 mauling against Haryana Steelers in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) clash here on Sunday.

Haryana Steelers are now top of the table in Zone A with 59 points from 18 matches. Dabang Delhi are bottom of the pile with 30 points from 15 matches.

Haryana made a strong start and never looked back as they showed their opponents why they are being considered one of the favourites.

Deepak Kumar Dahiya (six points) and Prashanth Rai (five points) got the raid points whereas Rakesh Singh (seven points) and Surender Nada (five points) were ruthless in the defence.

For Delhi, a disappointing campaign got worse as they suffered 10th defeat of the season.

U Mumba Register Narrow 30-28 Win Over Dabang Delhi In PKL-5

New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) U Mumba kept their play-offs hopes alive beating Dabang Delhi 30-28 in the opening game of the Delhi leg of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 5 at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex here on Friday.

Shrikant Jadhav scored 10 points whereas Kashiling Adake chipped in with seven points for U Mumba, who are now third in Zone A with 44 points from 16 matches.

The hosts squandered their early nine-point lead in the first half and couldn’t keep their composure in the last five minutes to languish at the bottom of the table in Zone A with 29 points from 13 matches.

Delhi started brightly in the first half and at one point led by as many as nine points. But U Mumba came back strongly in the latter part of the first half to stage a brilliant recovery.

Abolfazl made a two-point raid in the second minute to give Dabang Delhi a 2-1 lead. Shrikant scored a raid point in the fourth minute as U Mumba trailed 3-4.

Delhi inflicted an all out in the eighth minute to lead 11-3. Rattled by the big lead, the visitors scored four points in two minutes to trail 7-12 in the 13th minute.

Kashiling made a two-point raid in the 15th minute as U Mumba cut the deficit to 10-13. Rohit Balliyan got into the act for Delhi to score with a two-point raid and give them a 15-10 lead in the 16th minute.

U Mumba inflicted an all out in the 18th minute to trail 14-15 before both the teams went into the break levelled at 16-16.

The second half began with both teams refusing to give an inch.

It was a low-scoring affair in the second half. In the first four minutes both teams scored three tackle and raid points each as it was 19-19 after 16 minutes.

Shrikant was the raider for U Mumba who got points with critical raids. Both teams weren’t willing to take any chances as it was 20-20 after 28 minutes.

No all out was inflicted in the second half as it was a conservative affair with teams exchanging raid and tackle points one after the other. With less than five minutes to go the scores were levelled at 25-25.

Shrikant scored a critical raid point in the last minute and Kashiling scored with a tackle point as U Mumba clinched the tie narrowly by 30-28 in the end.
