Kurt Angle Wants Shane McMahon Or John Cena For Retirement Match

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle who is a former five times WWE World Champion recently expressed his desire to face either of a couple of opponents on his retirement match. The Olympic gold medalist said that he would like to wrestle either Shane McMahon or John Cena on his retirement match.

Angle had feuds with both of the individuals in the past. He had some of the greatest matches of his career along with these two individuals. His match against Shane McMahon at king of the Ring 2001 pay per view event of WWE which was a Street Fight is still considered as one of the best matches of his career.

About John Cena, Angle had to feud with him. The first feud took place in 2003 which was won by Angle. The second feud, however, was won by John Cena and it took place in 2005 and it was for the WWE Championship. The feud was pretty long we got some of the amazing matches between the two from this feud.

John Cena is still considered as one of the biggest opponents of Angle’s professional wrestling career. People do not remember much about his feud with Shane McMahon and it is not much remembered by WWE either but indeed it was one of the classics.

The Olympic gold medallist on a recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show expressed his desire to have is the retirement match with either Shane McMahon or the former 16 times WWE world champion John Cena. Here is what he had to say;

“Shane would have been a great retirement match. But I don’t know if I want to go through a match like that. An ‘Anything Goes Street Fight’ with Shane McMahon when I’m 50 years old? I don’t know how my body would hold out with that thing.”

“I thought Cena made sense because I started his career and I thought Cena could end mine. so, it made better sense, but I would have done Shane McMahon. I just don’t know if I would have been up for [the physicality].”

Vince McMahon’s entitlements per his WWE contract

It is interesting to note that Vince McMahon also has an agreement and employment clause with the WWE. His current contract with WWE runs through December 31, 2021, but it will automatically extend for a successive one-year period of time unless either party gives notice of termination.

Revealed: Shane McMahon’s Salary In WWE For 2020-21 Financial Year

Shane McMahon is back in the WWE programming since March 2016 and since then, the company is using him as a special attraction. He has worked for the WWE for a very long period that makes him handy for the process. He also reportedly helps his father with the backstage operations. This is the reason why he is valued so much among the WWE officials.

The SEC filing of WWE for the bygone financial year is out but it never included the earnings of Shane McMahon as he’s not considered to be a corporate executive in the company. But WWE finally released their Schedule 14A documentation to the FCC and those documents are about a month late from their usual release date. Those papers did reveal how much the younger McMahon has pocketed.

Wrestlenomics provided a very interesting aspect of this paperwork which revolved around Shane McMahon’s pay financials. He seemingly took home over $800K from WWE in 2020. Interestingly, the basic pay of Stephanie McMahon was less than him despite being a corporate figure. Although it should be noted, she received more money for her performance as on-screen talent.

Shane McMahon is just an on-screen talent

Shane-O-Mac is just considered to be a talent who has no connection with WWE’s corporate duties, so to speak which is unlike Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Sometimes, Shane is involved in the creative process to set things up for a PPV event.

Revealed: Shane McMahon’s Salary In WWE For 2020-21 Financial Year 21

Shane McMahon was brought back, last summer to host RAW Underground, but that weekly segment was quickly nixed due to the pandemic concerns. Then he resurfaced to participate in a WrestleMania program with Braun Strowman where he lost in a steel cage match. After putting over the Monster Among Men, the belief is that he won’t be seen for a long time, at least until Summerslam approaches closer.

Following the brand split in 2016, Shane McMahon was appointed as the commissioner of the Smackdown brand who played a pivotal TV role, back then. Gradually, that post was removed from TV and his seamless services were no more needed afterward.

WWE McMahons' Base Salaries Revealed For 2020-21 Financial Year 40

It should be noted that Shane McMahon is not included in the salaries list since he isn’t placed in any corporate position within the WWE. He’s a pure talent like any other WWE Superstar, who gets a call-up for bigger pay-per-view events like WrestleMania. Additionally, he sometimes overlooks things in the creative part when the team needs him. Following a loss against Braun Strowman at the Show of Shows, he’s likely to be absent from TV for some time.

WrestleMania 37 Results – Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon – Steel Cage Match

Braun Strowman defeated Shane McMahon In A Steel Cage Match

There is a real fun fact in the Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon of WrestleMania 37 match; this is just the second-ever Steel Cage match in WrestleMania history.

WrestleMania 37 Results – Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon

The first one took place at WrestleMania 2 where Hulk Hogan defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against King Kong Bundy inside a steel cage.

Shane McMahon and Braun Strowman’s match mainly faced a bad booking. It was not much meaningful either. WWE booked Strwoman as an unstoppable force just to face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania?

WrestleMania 37 Results – Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon - Steel Cage Match 58

It is not done at all. Strowman actually deserved a better opponent at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’ than Shane McMahon at least. A non-title match is not a big deal, of course, that is seen a lot of people are complaining. Wrestlers like the Undertaker mostly had no title matches at WrestleMania too.

They showed a nice hype package video to introduce the match. And since was a Steel Cage match, fans had high expectations from this match. As Braun was entering the ring, Shane closed the door cage as Elias and Jaxson Ryker beat up Braun with steel chairs. Braun enters the ring, the bell rang, and Shane started beating Braun down with the steel chair.

A lot of fans and critics predicted a squash or domination by Braun but it was far from it. Shane was booked high and kudos to him for his excellent performance. One of the most entertaining parts of the match has to be when Braun ripped a side of the cage apart to pull Shane back into the ring. Braun threw Shane into the ring from on top of the cage. Braun then pinned Shane with a Running Powerslam. The match was booked for around thirteen minutes.

This feud needs to end here. And we hope it would. Authority figures nowadays do not wrestle much except WrestleMania. Braun Strowman vs. Omos would have been an amazing feud to witness. But they should wait for a bigger stage to execute the best outcome of such a monstrous feud. Preferably, Summerslam or a later stage. They can even wait for WrestleMania 38 which can be an amazing thing to witness too.

Best Way To Book Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon For WrestleMania 37

The match between Braun Strowman and Shane McMahon has been booked for WrestleMania 37 last week. Both individuals were scheduled to face each other at Fastlane but Shane McMahon made an excuse of fake injury and somehow got away from the match. But this is now official for Wrestlemania. And since this is the final show of the season Braun will definitely get his hands on Shane, as they tried to project it. But nobody seems much interested to see Shane McMahon getting brutally beaten down by Braun Strowman.

We have talked about this earlier, this is not the best way to book Braun Strowman for WrestleMania that is for sure. The feud is not much interesting either. But this can seriously be made more fun and interesting for the fans.

Braun Strowman

Best Way To Book Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon For WrestleMania 37

They just need to put this angle in something that gave WWE a chance to fight the dominating WCW back in the 1990s. This angle is just needed to be taken to an Authority vs. Individual scenario. Right now there is nothing that makes this feud much exciting, it is predictable and boring. This is the only angle that can save this feud.

So here is how it should be done; the whole authority comes out in aid of Shane McMahon. They try to put Braun Strowman by putting him into difficult situations, making him face difficult opponents. Maybe some big legends like Kane and the Big Show, and in all cases, Authority causes Braun all of these matches. And by the last week of WrestleMania Braun picks up a serious kayfabe injury at the hands of Kane or the Big Show. He would be asked to back out from his WrestleMania match but he would not. And then, the two individuals will go on to face each other at WrestleMania. Braun will not be total fit to compete but still, he will.

Braun Strowman

This is the only way to book this feud that will make it a little interesting. Better say, this will make this feud pretty much exciting and fans will be looking forward to it too. The surprise returns of legends will also make things pretty fun. Three weeks would have been enough time to build this feud up properly.

Braun Strowman

But the way it is going right now, it does not seem like WWE is having any serious plans to book this feud. This will be more of a blank and empty scenario like most of the feuds from Raw. We hope to see them make some serious changes to make this feud worthy of going to WrestleMania.

Infamous Stone Cold Beer Bath Segment Took Place On WWE Raw 22 Years Ago

22 years ago in 1999, Stone Cold Steve Austin produced one of the most infamous segments in the history of professional wrestling. He bathed every one of The Corporation faction with beer which would go on to be known as the beer bath session. WWF – World Wrestling Federation aired another episode of their weekly TV show, then named WWF RAW IS WAR where the incident took place.

The live show was broadcasted from the Pepsi Arena in Albany, New York which progressed the storylines on the road to the ‘WWF WrestleMania XV’ PPV. Back at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, Stone Cold got a one-on-one match against Vince McMahon in a steel cage match, with the WWF Championship opportunity at WrestleMania XV at stake.

During that match, Paul Wight fka Big Show made his debut, underneath the ring to attack Stone Cold. The attack saw Austin getting thrown to the side of the cage forcing the cage to give way and dropping him to the floor first. Thus, Austin 316 grabbed a Wrestlemania opportunity who went on to take part in the famous segments in wrestling history in a March episode.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Reveals His Favorite Opponent In WWE

Stone Cold interrupted The Rock, Vince, and Shane McMahon’s interview segment driving a beer truck into the arena. The segment saw him cutting a promo on the three of them and using a hose on the truck to spray all three of them with beer. This would become one of the most iconic Attitude Era moments – The Beer Bath!

Full card from Stone Cold’s beer bath night

The full card from that episode is as follows, given by WWFOldSchool,

1. WWF World Tag Titles: Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart vs. The Brood

2. WWF Intercontinental Title vs. WWF Hardcore Title: Billy Gunn vs. Road Dogg

3. Sable vs. Ivory

4. Mankind vs. The Rock

5. Albany Greenwich Street Fight: Shane McMahon vs. X-Pac

6. The Corporation (Ken Shamrock, Test & Big Boss Man) vs. The Ministry Of Darkness (Bradshaw, Faarooq & The Undertaker)

7. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. “The Big Show” Paul Wight

It is to be noted that Austin, being the babyface figure in this feud, would go on to defeat The Rock at WrestleMania XV to win his third WWF Championship. It was the first Mania encounter between these two legendary Attitude Era superstars.

WWE Raw Preview (22/03/21): Fastlane 2021 Fallouts; Rhea Ripley Debuts

The storylines for WrestleMania 37 will officially begin starting from this week’s episode of WWE Raw as the final stop Fastlane 2021 is now over. All the fallouts from last night’s PPV event will be there on the show. Also, the Women’s Division of the red brand could be shaken up with a massive debut set for tonight’s show at the Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, Florida.

As already confirmed, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is scheduled to defend his title against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37 in a mega collision. While Lashley had a dominant title defense a week ago, McIntyre was able to showcase his ability and will to gain back the title at Fastlane against the long-term friend turned rival Sheamus.

WWE Raw Preview (22/03/21): Fastlane 2021 Fallouts; Rhea Ripley Debuts 97

These two superstars from WWE Raw tore each other apart in a No Holds Barred Match where Drew McIntyre came out as the winner. Now he will be eyeing the title he never lost in a fair manner but rather via the sudden Money in the Bank contract cash-in by The Miz. Lashley was also behind this happening as he beat down McIntyre before this. With the feud against Sheamus behind him, the Scottish Warrior will now focus on the All-Mighty and the WWE Title.

Wrestlemania 37: WWE To Change Main-Event To A Triple Threat

WWE Raw Preview (22/03/21): Fastlane 2021 Fallouts; Rhea Ripley Debuts 98

For months now, WWE Raw Women’s Division is in a stale position where there’s no credible challenger available for Asuka except for Charlotte Flair. Perhaps, that problem for the WWE creative team will be erased when Rhea Ripley makes her way on Monday Nights, from tonight. She originally debuted during the 2021 Royal Rumble match, but then lack of creative plans kept her out of the TV.

Now that the company has been airing vignettes to promote her arrival, they’ve to back it up with a solid booking for the former NXT Women’s Champion. It was not noted exactly what she will be doing but we can only assume that she will bring her brutality into the WWE Raw Women’s Title picture, which is much needed. Perhaps, a Triple Threat Match featuring Asuka, Flair, and Ripley could be in the pipeline.

WWE Raw Preview (22/03/21): Strowman targets Shane McMahon

Shane McMahon suffered an apparent knee injury while warming up before Fastlane 2021. Elias later approached him to get a spot at WrestleMania as Shane appointed him as the proxy in the PPV match against Strowman. The Monster among Men bulldozed Elias on his way to victory but he was fuming over how McMahon wanted to prove him stupid. As WWE Raw airs, tonight, Shane-O-Mac has to be extra careful or else he might just ‘get these hands.’

The Viper’s sinister past with The Fiend has haunted him down as Wyatt’s demonic version returned at Fastlane 2021. Bliss playing mind games with him reached new heights with her master joining her into the ring. As a result, Randy Orton ended up digesting a loss at the hands of a female superstar. Now with Wrestlemania approaching closer, the assumption is that Fiend vs Orton will go down at the PPV while the feud will continue on WWE Raw, tonight.

Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan for the Universal Championship is the main event of WWE Fastlane 2021 where the champion is a heavy -1000 favorite to retain while Bryan is the distant underdog at +525. This is no surprise as Reigns is the obvious favorite to move into Wrestlemania as the headliner with the challenger being WWE Hall of Famer Edge.

In the Women’s Tag Team Title match, champions Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax are a -300 favorite while the challengers, SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair are the underdogs at +200. This is unlikely to see a title alteration in this match as Banks and Belair are already set for a ‘Mania collision.

The third title match on WWE Fastlane 2021 card will have Intercontinental Champion Big E defending his title against the real Apollo Crews. E is favored to have a successful title defense at -300 while Crews is sitting at +200.

WWE Fastlane 2021: Potential Winners Revealed For Top Matches 117

Drew McIntyre is set to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37 and thus he just can’t afford a loss, at this point. He remains a -550 favorite while Sheamus is the underdog at +325.

Interestingly, Alexa Bliss is a favorite at -200 for her match against Randy Orton with The Fiend’s blessing on her. The Viper is a short underdog at +150. As for the Braun Strowman vs Shane McMahon bout, Strowman is the likely winner at -150 while McMahon is a +110 underdog.
