The hosts rode on an all-round show by their raiders and defenders to maintain their winning streak, even as the visitors failed to put up a fight and suffered their sixth defeat of the ongoing season.

While raiders Abhishek SIngh, Darshan Kadian and Vinod Kumar collected 12, 10 and seven points respectively, the defenders also rose to the occasion as skipper Fazel Atrachali and Rohit Rana picked five and three tackle points.

Deepak Hooda was the top contributor for Jaipur with six raid points.

The Jaipur raiders and defenders kept on faltering, which the Mumbai side took full advantage of with their raiders picking points on every occasion. The hosts inflicted another All-Out to make the score read 19-4, even as they proceeded to the breather with a massive 26-8 lead.

The home side continued to dominate their opponents in the second half too as the Fazel-led side stretched their lead to 31-10.

PKL 2018: Deepak Niwas Hooda Becomes The Most Expensive Player In PKL History

The ongoing auction for the sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League is just getting better and better with every passing moment. The auction kick-started on a bang with Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali becoming the first player to bag a deal worth Rs 1 crore.

U Mumba secured his services for a whopping cost of Rs 1 crore. Atrachali had starred for Gujarat Fortune Giants last year, helping the team enter the final.

The Iranian star became the first player to be bought for Rs 1 crore in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League Auctions. The record of being the most expensive player previously belonged to Nitin Tomar. UP Yoddha had snapped him for Rs 93 lakh in last year’s auction.

Well, his record lasted only for a few moments as Deepak Niwas Hooda broke Atrachali’s record as the most expensive player in the history of the league.

Jaipur Pink Panthers secured Hooda’s services for a record price of Rs 1 crore 15 lakhs. Hooda had played for Puneri Paltan last year and the franchise could have secured his services. However, the Pune-based franchise refused to exercise their Final Bid Match card.

Hooda also became the first Indian to be bought for Rs 1 crore.  Starting from a base price of Rs 20 lakh, Hooda saw heavy bidding from Dabang Delhi, Haryana Steelers and Jaipur Pink Panthers before the Jaipur-based franchise won the race.

“I didn’t expect such a high bid but when Fazel Atrazchali was sold for Rs 1 crore I did think my bid would be high. There are also new responsibilities now and I have to improve my performance. I can’t say for sure but I will try my best to do well and help the team win the trophy this time round,” Hooda said after getting the deal.

Want to be known as a PKL team with winning attitude: Bachchan Jr

Mumbai, May 30: Jaipur Pink Panthers owner Abhishek Bachchan on Wednesday explained the idea behind not retaining any player ahead of the upcoming sixth season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), starting October 19.

The Panthers’ owner while speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the ongoing PKL auctions said that the franchise wanted to build a new team which will be known for their winning ways.

Notably, Panthers were the inaugural PKL title holders but failed to continue with the winning momentum in the subsequent editions of the league.

“The idea is to reshuffle the side and come with a much stronger and dynamic team,” Abhishek said.

“We won the inaugural season of the league but now we also want to be known as a winning team, a team with a winning attitude,” he said.

With the money flowing in on the Kabaddi players on the rise since the PKL’s inception in 2014, Abhishek said it was all due to the league getting bigger and better every season.

Significantly, Rakesh Kumar was the costliest player in the first season of the PKL after being purchased for Rs 12.80 lakh by Patna Pirates. Three years later in 2017, Nitin Tomar became the most expensive player after being pocketed for a whopping Rs 93 lakhs by UP Yoddhas.

“The league is getting bigger and better. The viewership has also increased almost to 10 times which shows the potential of the league,” Abhishek said.

“Kabaddi is one of the few sporting leagues in India which is growing exponentially in terms of viewership. With viewership comes sponsorship which brings more money and as a result teams spend more money on players,” the Bollywood actor explained.
