Sami Zayn Addresses Rey Mysterio And Match Against Him

Former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT Champion recently addressed his match against Rey Mysterio and called it a dream match. He praised the former three times WWE World Champion.

Sami Zayn and Rey Mysterio have fought each other for a number of times in past. But none of the matches had been part of any feud or storyline. They were mostly casual matches. Some were parts of gauntlet matches. So their previous matches cannot be addressed as classics since they were nothing like five star matches either.

Sami Zayn Addresses Rey Mysterio And Match Against Him

But it looks like they are about start a feud soon. Last week at Friday Night Smackdown Sami and Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik Mysterio fought each other in a one on one match and the match was won by Sami. One thing that needs to be remembered in this matter is Sami’s victory was clean. This is possibly an indication towards the start of a feud between him and Rey.

Rey and Dominik is not having a very good time together since they have lost the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Specially Dominik, who is losing most of his matches since dropping the titles. This might be a good time to have a fresh start and start A Feud with the former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.

Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT Champion recently featured as a guest on The Bump where he addressed his match against Rey Mysterio and called it a dream match. He said;

“I’m not gonna sit here and disrespect the man. I think he’s — I know that goat term is thrown around quite loosely these days, but he truly is, for what he is, as far as — let’s just say a cruiserweight, he’s so much more than that.

“But if we want to pigeonhole him and just call him a cruiserweight, bar none the best of all time. So I’m not going to sit here and say anything disparaging about him in that regard.”

“We never really got to mix it up. You said we mixed it up once on RAW about a year ago, but it was like two minutes or something like that. He caught me quick before the match could even get started.

“He caught me right off the jump; I think it was in a gauntlet match. My memory is a little hazy at the moment, but the point is he caught me. I’ll give him that he caught me with a quick one.

“But we’ve never had a good 10, 15, 20 minutes to really sink our teeth into a proper battle and 100% being on the same show as Rey Mysterio, that’s one of my dream matches, probably the last dream match I really have that I’ve never done that I could do is a singles with Rey.

“So I’d love to mix it up in there properly and really have him test where he’s at. At this point in his career in his life versus to test, where I’m at in my career, at this point in my life. Because I think I’m actually at the top of my game right now, if I’m being honest.”

WWE Smackdown Preview (03/09/21): Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor

Moving on from a monumental SummerSlam 2021, WWE SmackDown is moving towards Extreme Rules pay-per-view event set for September. En route, the Universal Champion is the busiest person on Friday nights as he is set to feature in another headliner. Tonight, he faces Finn Balor with the Universal Title on the line when the show takes place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

The post-SummerSlam edition of SmackDown on FOX closed with Finn Balor having a face-off with Roman Reigns and challenging him to a title match for this week. The segment saw Balor attacking Reigns when SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos backed up The Tribal Chief.

Balor would then be triple-teamed by the heels until The Street Profits – Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins made the save. Reigns watched from the ramp as The Usos were taken out in the ring by the Profits. Balor would then end the counterattack with a Coup De Grace on one of The Usos.

WWE Smackdown Preview (03/09/21): Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor 1

After what transpired on SmackDown, WWE Official Adam Pearce announced Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor to go down on this week’s main event slot. This is the same lineup that should be retained for the Universal Championship Match at the Extreme Rules PPV event, as well.

In the meantime, a new rivalry is also expected to begin for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships where The Street Profits are likely to become the new challengers to The Usos. The crime-in-partners for Roman Reigns are over with the feud against The Mysterios and the contenders’ spot is free, at this point.

Speaking of the Mysterios, it was last week that for the first time, we have seen cracks in the relationship between Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Sami Zayn defeated Dominik in a singles contest after which Dominik lost his cool and walked away from his dad. Could this mark the beginning of an anticipated father-son rivalry in the future? We’ll find out what’s next for them on SmackDown.

WWE Plans King And Queen Of The Ring 2021 Finale For Saudi Arabia PPV

In the SmackDown Women’s Championship picture, Becky Lynch is back on the top spot with her return as she regained the title from Bianca Belair at SummerSlam in just 26 seconds. But being The EST of WWE, Belair is someone who won’t go down with such a bitter memory. Rather, she is focused on winning back the gold, as quickly as possible.

As seen last week, Bianca Belair defeated Carmella, Zelina Vega, and Liv Morgan in a Fatal-4-Way Elimination Match to win the number-one contender’s spot. Now, she is coming after The MAN and her title. While the new challenger for the champion is confirmed, the next title match is yet to be officially announced. So, when could we expect to see Belair vs. Lynch II? The answer will perhaps be received on the latest episode of SmackDown.

Even though this is not the first appearance of Dominik Mysterio. His first appearance in WWE took place way back in 2005 when he was only 8 year old. He appeared as a part of the story line between his father Rey Mysterio and his father’s friend and onscreen Rival of that time Eddie Guerrero. The fans of the ruthless aggression era did not forget him.

Dominik could not be as famous as his father yet but he could be a big star in near future as he has shown some really nice potential. But he should be stuck to the Tag Team works along with his father for the better sake of his career. Dominik is only 24 and he has a lot to learn. Surely he will improve more.

Rey Mysterio who is a former three times WWE world champion recently spoke to Sports Illustrated where he talked about his Tag Team with his son Dominik Mysterio. He said;

“Dominik didn’t decide to start training until the age of 19 [five years ago], but it’s been an incredible journey ever since he started. I’m so proud of him. I’m his parent and I want the best for him. Watching him wrestle, sometimes it feels like I’m going to high school sports games, wanting him to stand out.

“I want him to do things the right way. He’s been in the ring for such little time, but he’s stepping in the ring with some of the top stars in the company. I just want to make sure there are no mistakes and no flaws. That’s the way you need to be when you’re in the ring with stars like Roman Reigns and The Usos.”

John Cena Wrestles In A Match After WWE Smackdown Goes Off The Air

John Cena wasn’t scheduled to compete on this week’s SmackDown just like the recently bygone weeks since his return to the WWE. In fact, he will possibly only wrestle once on TV and that’ll happen at SummerSlam 2021. But he’s been working on house shows in non-televised matches for which the WWE locker room is grateful.

The dark main event after this week’s WWE SmackDown at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma also witnessed John Cena competing for the live audience in crowd. He teamed up with The Mysterios in an expected lineup that the house show events are witnessing for the past several weeks.

The six-man dark main event match featured Cena, Rey Mysterio, and Dominik Mysterio defeating WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.

As always, Roman Reigns was protected during the finish of the match as he went out of the ring. The finish to the match saw John Cena getting the pin on Jimmy Uso with an Attitude Adjustment after getting a hot tag. Once the match was over, the sixteen-time world champion celebrated with The Mysterios and they also brought a young fan over the barrier with them to end the night in a special way.

Conversation between John Cena & Roman Reigns

Over on the main show of SmackDown, John Cena and Roman Reigns insulted each other during the opening segment. Cena gave Reigns his “report card”, and Reigns got a D grade (Cena also called him D-bag and D-head).

Some of the quick-fire lines can be read as follows,

Cena: Roman Reigns will beat the hell out of me at SummerSlam, but he will lose at SummerSlam.

Reigns: You are good enough to win the WWE Championship, but not the Universal Championship.

Reigns: 20 Years of missionary was good enough for you, but it wasn’t good enough for Nikki Bella.

Cena: That’s why I’m back, dude. I’m that only one that can shut you up.

Cena: You almost ruined Seth Rollins, you ran Dean Ambrose out of WWE.

Cena: All I need is 1, 2, 3…and you’re the biggest FAILURE in WWE history.

John Cena Wrestled In A Match After WWE Smackdown Went Off The Air

John Cena wasn’t there in attendance for this week’s WWE Smackdown but he did appear for the fans, live in attendance for the August 6 show. The fans present at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida witnessed the megastar in action once the show went off the air. They also got to see a few superstars from NXT and a Raw Superstar in action in several dark segments, before and after the show.

The dark main event of this week’s Smackdown in Tampa saw John Cena teaming with Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio for a six-man win over WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos – Jimmy and Jey Uso. WWE Bumpy Awards 2021 began with the panel presenting the Tag Team of the Half-Year award to The Mysterios. After receiving their award, the father-son duo came on to personally thank the WWE fans for honoring them with this award. Rey mentioned the fact that his son received his first-ever WWE award just two weeks before celebrating his first-anniversary debut for the company,

“I am speechless, man. We have this because of the fans,” Rey Mysterio started with a big smile. “Everything we do is for you guys. We love you all, and we thank you all for the support because, without you guys, we wouldn’t be here.”

Potential Return Date For WWE To Saudi Arabia For Next PPV Event

The next WWE Bumpy Awards 2021 was presented in the form of the “Rivalry of the Half-Year,” which went to former Undisputed Era members Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. Tensions was running high when both men appeared to accept their award on their way to the next and third overall showdown of their current feud – not to mention they have to share this one award. Cole, instead of thanking the WWE fans stated, ‘you’re welcome,’ while Kyle O’Reilly added their rivalry is far from over.

“Kyle O’Reilly, the NXT Universe, the WWE Universe, they have me to thank,” Adam Cole stated. “This was Adam Cole featuring Kyle O’Reilly. This is my award…You’re welcome, Kyle O’Reilly. And you’re welcome, WWE Universe.”

It should be mentioned that WWE Bumpy Awards 2021 was concluded by WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns taking home the “Superstar of the Half-Year” award. Without showing much excitement, the winner suggested that this trophy should be given to his SummerSlam 2021 opponent, John Cena,

“Give it to John Cena. He needs it a little bit more than I do.”

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre received the Lifetime Achievement award, an award that recognizes one Superstar for their dedication, sportsman spirit and honor both in and out of the ring. Last year’s award went to Drake Maverick while the Scottish Warrior was chosen this year by the WWE Bumpy Awards 2022 panelists and fans. Following the honor, the former 2-time WWE Champion stated the following,

“I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in without the fans. I have had such a wild career; lots of ups and downs. I didn’t become ‘The Chosen One’ by the powers that be.

I became ‘The Chosen One’ by the fans. No matter how dark times get, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep fighting for your dreams and keep believing in yourself.” (Quotes courtesy Wrestling Inc)

“We’re All Thankful To John Cena,” Says WWE Veteran Rey Mysterio

John Cena is back in the WWE and he’s heading to Summerslam 2021 in a big way. For the first time since 2015, the franchise player is headlining the show and this happens to be against his successor in the company. As seen on Smackdown, the Universal Champion Roman Reigns will put his title on the line with perhaps the greatest main-eventer in the history of WWE.

On his way to Summerslam 2021, John Cena is working seamlessly on TV tapings and WWE house shows. And for that, the WWE locker room is extremely thankful. The recent WWE house shows have been headlined by six-man tag team matches between The Bloodline (The team of Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos) vs. Rey and Dominik Mysterios alongside the Cenation Leader.

Update On Plans For Karrion Kross And Scarlett On WWE Raw

“We’re All Thankful To John Cena,” Says WWE Veteran Rey Mysterio 61

Rey Mysterio has stated the significance of John Cena performing in the non-televised WWE house shows on a regular basis during his current run. The WWE locker room is “thankful” to Cena for working house shows, in a time where Hollywood megastars of Cena’s magnitude could only typically wrestle on PPVs or TV tapings.

“With John, he just happened to have a break right now, and he’s back,” Rey Mysterio told DAZN about John Cena. “Now he’s not only doing TVs, but he’s wanting to do house shows as well. So that just tells me the type of character he has, the type of person he is. He’s willing to drive and do the supershows that we’re kicking off that we had last weekend and now this upcoming weekend.”

Major Spoiler On Former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan’s Debut On AEW

John Cena is helping increase WWE backstage morale

The Master of 619 continued saying that these appearances by the sixteen-time world champion in house shows are good for morale when it comes to younger superstars’ learning process. Dominik could learn a lot from the bonafide WWE Superstar as he continues to team up with the GOAT on a regular basis, for now.

“We’re All Thankful To John Cena,” Says WWE Veteran Rey Mysterio 62

The good thing is that John Cena isn’t set for one last run but rather he will continue to make time from his busy schedule to enter the WWE picture,

“It’s not only good for morale, but the fans are entertained and are buying tickets to go see Cena, my son, and myself. So we get the rub off of John. He made his name in this wrestling world, and now he’s jumped over to Hollywood. But he’s coming back and forth.

“This might not be the last time we’re going to see him. I think we are going to see him more. But he’s making the time, and I think we’re all thankful from the WWE locker rooms that he’s taking the time to come back and put in the work that once made him famous.”

The Mysterios are expected to challenge The Usos for the tag team titles at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view while John Cena has already been booked. Initially, Cena was expected to leave, right after the PPV event but now it appears that he will also perform after the PPV. This should be the reason why WWE is advertising him for Super Smackdown at the Madison Square Garden in September.

WWE Smackdown Preview (30/07/21): New Challenges Await The Champions

WWE continues to build for SummerSlam amid fans in attendance as another episode of SmackDown will be held, tonight. The Universal Champion is the expected headliner of the show where he’d possibly be competing against a fresh opponent. The Women’s Champion is also likely to receive a new opponent when this week’s episode airs from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Last week, John Cena welcomed the WWE Universe in his grand return to SmackDown. He once again mentioned that his return to the WWE was because of facing the Universal Champion Roman Reigns as he laid down a challenge to him targeting the SummerSlam 2021 main event. However, The Tribal Chief wasn’t interested in going toe-to-toe with the Cenation Leader.

In a later promo session, Roman Reigns was happy to decline the challenge and thereby a massive match against John Cena. That’s when Finn Balor’s music hit the arena as he came out to confront the champion. Balor said if Reigns wasn’t interested in Cena’s challenge, maybe he would be interested in this challenge from Balor. Reigns talked it over with Heyman and then accepted the challenge.

Following that segment, WWE is now promoting that Roman Reigns will be looking forward to his new opponent on SmackDown while they haven’t yet clarified whether the title match will go down on SmackDown. Balor originally returned on July 16 show to attack Sami Zayn. He then made his in-ring return last week by defeating Zayn in singles action.

WWE NXT TakeOver 36: Title Match Set; Next Challenger Indicated

WWE Smackdown Preview (30/07/21): Who will be Bianca Belair’s next opponent?

Last week’s SmackDown witnessed another championship match between Bianca Belair and Carmella where the champion successfully retained her belt in a rare match that took place at the Rolling Loud festival. That being said, the existing feud should be over as Beliar may expect to receive a new opponent, this week.

The expectation is that WWE will present a new challenger for the SmackDown Women’s Championship eyeing a big match at SummerSlam 2021. Rumors suggest that Sasha Banks could return to set up a rematch from WrestleMania 37 against Belair. Also, Toni Storm could be a viable option for Belair as she made a grand debut last week by defeating Zelina Vega. Following her win, she also cut a promo and mentioned how she is destined to be a future champion.

WWE Smackdown Preview (30/07/21): New Challenges Await The Champions 70

The rivalry between the Mysterios and The Usos is likely to continue as the latter duo was able to upstage the father-son duo at the WWE Money in the Bank Kick-off to once again become SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Then Jimmy Uso scored a singles victory over Dominik with a Superkick after a hard-fought battle, last week. The other half of the Uso provided assistance from outside the ring and we assume Mysterio Sr. didn’t take it lightly.

WWE Smackdown Preview (30/07/21): New Challenges Await The Champions 71

WWE Hall of Famer Edge was clear enough to mention that Seth Rollins was the reason that he didn’t become the Universal Champion at Money in the Bank. Now he is willing to go to any level to seek revenge on the SmackDown Savior by any means. He already sent a message by putting him down, last week in a physical confrontation segment. Now, it’s only a matter of time that the two get booked in a dream bout at SummerSlam.
