Sami Zayn Addresses Rey Mysterio And Match Against Him

Former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT Champion recently addressed his match against Rey Mysterio and called it a dream match. He praised the former three times WWE World Champion.

Sami Zayn and Rey Mysterio have fought each other for a number of times in past. But none of the matches had been part of any feud or storyline. They were mostly casual matches. Some were parts of gauntlet matches. So their previous matches cannot be addressed as classics since they were nothing like five star matches either.

But it looks like they are about start a feud soon. Last week at Friday Night Smackdown Sami and Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik Mysterio fought each other in a one on one match and the match was won by Sami. One thing that needs to be remembered in this matter is Sami’s victory was clean. This is possibly an indication towards the start of a feud between him and Rey.

Rey and Dominik is not having a very good time together since they have lost the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Specially Dominik, who is losing most of his matches since dropping the titles. This might be a good time to have a fresh start and start A Feud with the former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.

Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT Champion recently featured as a guest on The Bump where he addressed his match against Rey Mysterio and called it a dream match. He said;

“I’m not gonna sit here and disrespect the man. I think he’s — I know that goat term is thrown around quite loosely these days, but he truly is, for what he is, as far as — let’s just say a cruiserweight, he’s so much more than that.

“But if we want to pigeonhole him and just call him a cruiserweight, bar none the best of all time. So I’m not going to sit here and say anything disparaging about him in that regard.”

“We never really got to mix it up. You said we mixed it up once on RAW about a year ago, but it was like two minutes or something like that. He caught me quick before the match could even get started.

“He caught me right off the jump; I think it was in a gauntlet match. My memory is a little hazy at the moment, but the point is he caught me. I’ll give him that he caught me with a quick one.

“But we’ve never had a good 10, 15, 20 minutes to really sink our teeth into a proper battle and 100% being on the same show as Rey Mysterio, that’s one of my dream matches, probably the last dream match I really have that I’ve never done that I could do is a singles with Rey.

“So I’d love to mix it up in there properly and really have him test where he’s at. At this point in his career in his life versus to test, where I’m at in my career, at this point in my life. Because I think I’m actually at the top of my game right now, if I’m being honest.”

Sami Zayn Says He Cannot Talk About His Absence Recently

Former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently talked about his absence from the WWE recently and he also said that he was not allowed to reveal why he was absent from WWE for over a month.

Sami Zayn took an absence of over a month before finally coming back last week on Friday night Smackdown once again. Before the absence, he was playing a storyline of the conspiracy theory against WWE. In this storyline he was claiming that there was a conspiracy played on him to stop him from reaching the top level.

Sami Zayn Says He Cannot Talk About His Absence Recently

He also had a good storyline with his long time on screen Rival Kevin Owens. At WrestleMania 37 he faced the former WWE Universal champion in a one on one match, which by the way he lost. He continued the feud for quite a while and he also had an inconsistent feud for the WWE intercontinental championship. After that he took a leave of around one month.

He made his return to WWE just last week on Friday night Smackdown and he was instantly booked in a match against Dominik Mysterio. His returned was quite successful as he defeated Dominik Mysterio. The match was quite good and it was a clean victory for him. It is rumoured that he would be feuding for the WWE intercontinental championship next.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is a former WWE NXT champion recently gave a post match interview where he talked about his absence from the WWE recently and he also said that he was not allowed to reveal why he was absent from WWE for over a month. He said;

last four weeks I haven’t been around; you could have reached out to me? But nobody did. I didn’t get a text, I didn’t get a call. Nobody even thought to ask, ‘where is Sami?’

Smackdown

“Where is one of the greatest performers of our time? Where is he these days? Nobody thought to ask. But now that I’m back, everyone is acting like they care. I’m not even allowed to talk about where I’ve been – but trust me, in due time, you’re going to find out where I was and what I was up to. And trust me, it’s going be juicy.”

“I didn’t even get asked to be on TV for the last four weeks, and yet they had time for Dominik Mysterio to go out there tonight and basically have open ring time? Why is that? I am a generational talent, and they didn’t even ask me to come out tonight. Anytime, Dominik or his daddy want a reality check, to remind them that nobody is on my level, I’d be glad to do it.”

Sami Zayn On Roman Reigns Being The Current Face Of WWE

WWE star Sami Zayn who is a former two times WWE Intercontinental Champion recently talked about Roman Reigns being the current face of WWE and he also talked about how many people it took to get Roman there.

Sami Zayn’s claim has a valid point of course. To make someone a face of a professional wrestling promotion it takes a lot of wrestler to get him through. Of course, Roman Reigns had to go through a lot of burials like the previous faces. To build a face of a professional wrestling promotion you need a lot of wrestlers to go down under.

Roman Reigns

Sami Zayn On Roman Reigns Being The Current Face Of WWE

For example, the previous faces like John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock And The Immortal Hulk Hogan also had to go through a lot of burials. The biggest example of this has to be John Cena since a lot of talented professional wrestlers had been buried by the hands of John Cena. This is one of the biggest reasons John Cena was being hated by a lot of professional wrestling fans.

But Roman Reigns was not built in this way. There is not a huge number of wrestler that had to go down to push Roman Reigns. And it took quite a time to finally build the perfect push for the current WWE Universal champion. He is doing his job perfectly.

Roman Reigns

Former two time WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn recently featured as a guest on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast where he talked about Roman Reigns being the current face of WWE and he also talked about how many people it took to get Roman there. He said;

“The individual effort versus the collective effort, right? So you take someone like Roman Reigns who’s a great example. Roman, no one’s gonna say he’s not good. He’s awesome, clearly.

Roman Reigns

“However, think of how many people it took to get him there and so that’s an amazing thing about wrestling that I think about all the time is the duality and the dynamic between the individual and the collective because the very individual mindset of like, ‘I gotta get over, I’m the best. I have to believe –’ a little bit of that is like WWE conditioning or whatever.

“‘You gotta think like you’re the man and you wanna be in the top spot!’ And it’s all through a lens of sort of dominance, which is a whole other — I won’t even touch all that.”

WWE Money In The Bank 2021: New Ladder Match Participants Announced

This week’s WWE SmackDown on FOX inserted a couple of names to Money In The Bank 2021 ladder match for both men’s and women’s divisions. Sonya Deville brought Zelina Vega back in the WWE as the next participant from the blue brand. Just like Carmella, last week the Vega didn’t have to qualify for the opportunistic ladder match.

Zelina Vega played the role of a heel by cutting a promo on the mic about how she will win the MITB briefcase and then cash in to become either the WWE NXT, RAW, or SmackDown Women’s Champion. Liv Morgan interrupted as she was upset for not getting a spot at Money In The Bank 2021 Ladder Match.

She ended up having words with Zelina Vega and then slapping her. Morgan was then granted a match by Sonya Deville against Vega to prove her potential, once again. The match was short where Morgan used a handful of tights to roll up her opponent for the pin to win. While Vega is official for the upcoming ladder match, Morgan is yet to qualify despite two consecutive wins.

In other news for WWE Money In The Bank 2021, Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn in a brutal Last Man Standing match on SmackDown. Thus, he joined Big E as the other confirmed blue brand entrant in the Men’s MITB Ladder Match. The four RAW Superstars for the match are Ricochet, Riddle, John Morrison, and Drew McIntyre.

The feud between Bayley and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair is likely to be wrapped up at WWE Money in the Bank 2021. In a Face-Off segment between the two rivals, Belair challenged Belair to an “I Quit” match at the pay-per-view, and Bayley accepted as The title will be on the line at the upcoming PPV.

Belair retained over Bayley at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view on May 16 and again at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on June 20, inside the Cell structure. The feud between these two is going on since after WrestleMania 37.

WWE Smackdown Preview (02/07/21): Last Man Standing Match; MITB Builds

WWE is building towards a grand version of Money In The Bank PPV event in front of a live audience and the process will continue on this week’s SmackDown. A huge MITB Ladder Match qualifier has been announced as the main event of the show. Plus, there will be fallouts on Edge receiving a title match on the show that takes place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

The main event scene of SmackDown saw a massive change with the return of Edge, last week. After a hiatus of two months, he was back to pounce on Roman Reigns. If it wasn’t for Jimmy Uso then the champion was on the verge of suffering a Con-Chair-To from the returnee. But Jimmy’s interference let him escape the scene with Paul Heyman.

WWE Smackdown Preview (02/07/21): Seth Rollins’ obligations

Following SmackDown, Edge made his way into Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville’s office and demanded a match against Reigns for the title at WWE Money in the Bank on July 18. The two officials immediately granted his request as the title match was announced, right away. Seth Rollins wasn’t happy with this happening, at all.

The SmackDown Savior was the guest of Talking Smack at the time when the post-show footage rolled and he showed frustrations. Rollins said he was promised the title shot at the PPV after requesting the same to Adam Pearce following his big win over Cesaro at Hell In A Cell 2021 PPV. But that title shot has now gone to Edge. Rollins is likely to protest the decision, tonight.

Roman Reigns Doesn’t Want A Shield Reunion On WWE Programming

From SmackDown, Big E has qualified for the upcoming Men’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match. He won a non-title qualifier over WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews to earn that spot. Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, and Drew McIntyre are the other four names from Raw to qualify for the ladder match.

Another spot from the blue brand will be filled in the Men’s MITB Ladder Match when Sami Zayn faces Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match, tonight. The two of them recently faced at Hell In A Cell PPV event with Zayn picking up the win while Adam Pearce announced the rematch with a big stipulation attached to the match. After this match, two more SmackDown spots for the Men’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match will remain.

WWE Smackdown Preview (02/07/21): Last Man Standing Match; MITB Builds 21

In more news for the Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match, Sonya Deville announced that Carmella would be her first selection for the match from SmackDown side. Carmella did not have to qualify who entered the fray via her past accolades. Liv Morgan had some problems with that announcement as she had already defeated Mella, the prior week.

Liv Morgan was then granted a rematch with Carmella with the stipulation that if she could win, she could make it to the Women’s MITB Ladder Match. She did win that match but it was never confirmed that Morgan has earned a spot. It should be clarified, this week whether Morgan is part of the Women’s MITB Ladder Match from the SmackDown side.

WWE Smackdown Preview (25/06/21): Hell in a Cell 2021 Fallouts; Mixed Tag Match

When it comes to WWE Smackdown, the show usually revolves around the Universal Champion who runs the entire show with authority. The reign of terror isn’t ending anytime soon but it would rather grow following the Hell in a Cell title match defense, last week. Additionally, fallouts from the gimmick-based PPV will be there on the show alongside builds for Money in the Bank 2021 when Friday’s hottest show airs from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

In the main event of last week’s SmackDown, Roman Reigns defeated Rey Mysterio inside Hell in a Cell to retain the Universal Championship. Reigns made Mysterio tap out to a new version of the Guillotine Choke Hold submission. Interestingly, Jimmy Uso came out after the match to raise Reigns’ hand after which Reigns applied the Guillotine on Mysterio again to make him suffer with it.

WWE Clash Of Champions Reportedly Returning In September 2021

It appears that Jimmy Uso is already on the side of Roman Reigns, making him even stronger than ever. This is why The Tribal Chief sent a message to Rey Mysterio after SmackDown which was simple and clear,

“Go home. Stay home.
And if you come back to MY ring…
You’ll acknowledge me.”

It should be noted that Roman Reigns wished Mysterio “Happy Father’s Day” after the win in the middle of the ring. He had also already taken out his son Dominik, the week before, with a vicious Powerbomb from the ring all the way to the outside the floor. Now it’ll be interesting to see what next challenger is waiting for the champion on Smackdown. He is also set to throw a celebration on the show following his successful title defense.

Speaking of this, the new title defense for Roman Reigns may happen at Money in the Bank 2021 PPV where two separate ladder matches will be there on July 18. Qualifiers for those matches have already begun from this week’s episode of Raw. Ricochet, Riddle, and John Morrison have qualified for the men’s ladder match while Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, Naomi, and Asuka have qualified for the women’s ladder match. A few names from Smackdown will also enter the fray, tonight.

Spoiler On Edge’s Opponent At WWE Summerslam 2021

WWE Smackdown Preview (25/06/21): Hell in a Cell 2021 Fallouts; Mixed Tag Match 38

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was contested inside the Hell in a Cell structure at last Sunday’s PPV event. This change was made since the Roman Reigns vs. Rey Mysterio Hell in a Cell match was moved to last week’s show, so WWE needed another Cell match on the PPV from the blue brigade.

In a critically acclaimed match, Belair was able to defeat Bayley via a clean pinfall win in order to retain her title. This was thought to have ended the feud between the two of them, for good but it’s not. On tonight’s episode, the two will compete in a mixed tag team match with Cesaro and Seth Rollins being their respective partners. As a result, Rollins vs. Cesaro program is also likely to continue.

WWE Smackdown Preview (25/06/21): Otis and Chad Gable in momentums

WWE Smackdown Preview (25/06/21): Hell in a Cell 2021 Fallouts; Mixed Tag Match 39

Angelo Dawkins tried to get payback on Otis for his brutal attack of Montez Ford a week before. But Otis and his tag team partner Chad Gable seemed relentless than ever while pouncing on Dawkins in the middle of the ring. Another vicious two-on-one beatdown at the hands of Otis and his Alpha Academy instructor already removed Ford from action while they may have been able to keep Dawkins, out of the equation, for good.

Going by the latest reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kevin Owens has headed into a hiatus following his loss at the hands of Sami Zayn at Hell in a Cell 2021. This would happen as a result of a storyline injury to the prizefighter which might allow receiving a big push to Zayn, down the road. What new opportunities could be waiting for the great liberator? We’ll find out on this post-Hell in a Cell edition of Smackdown.

Kevin Owens Reportedly Taking Time Off From WWE

Kevin Owens posted to Twitter following Hell in a Cell 2021 after which the WWE Universe was already curious about potential time-off by him. He apparently issued a statement to fans, indicating that he may be going into a hiatus, away from the WWE. Now, a reliable source has confirmed the same affirming the hiatus.

WWE SmackDown Superstar Kevin Owens is now reportedly set to go for a time off from WWE. Owens already tweeted that he needed a little break after his loss to Sami Zayn at Hell in Cell this past Sunday,

“I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys.”

Kevin Owens Reportedly Taking Time Off From WWE 56

Now on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer also mentioned that Kevin Owens is heading into time-off. However, it was also noted that it doesn’t have any connection with any injury but rather WWE could use storyline reasons to assure the absence. As a result, his current rival Sami Zayn may end up getting a push in the following weeks.

Kevin Owens lost to Sami Zayn at HIAC 2021

As seen at Hell in a Cell 2021, Kevin Owens digested a clean pinfall loss to his longtime friend cum rival, Zayn. The Prizefighter sold a potential arm injury throughout the match, and WWE also noted after the show that he may have suffered a left wrist injury, but they did not provide any details. Perhaps this injury will help WWE to write Owens off TV for the time being.

For the past few months, Kevin Owens has been involved in this feud against Sami Zayn that produced a Wrestlemania match with Logan Paul sitting at ringside. Owens defeated Zayn in that match alongside a rematch at the post-Wrestlemania Backlash PPV episode of Smackdown. But Zayn finally sought redemption at Hell in a Cell.

On this past episode of SmackDown, Kevin Owens was attacked by Commander Azeez in a tag team match where the behemoth superstar made his in-ring debut. After the beatdown, Owens was coughing uncontrollably due to Azeez’s Nigerian Nail which allowed Azeez the pinfall win. Zayn was also present at ringside to provide some distraction to his rival.

“I’ll say this, @LoganPaul no doubt worked his ass off and proved a lot of people wrong, but if he never meets Sami Zayn, he never realigns his perspective, and no chance he goes 8 rounds with Floyd Mayweather. I’m glad to have played my part in this historic bout.”

As seen at this year’s Wrestlemania, Logan Paul was involved in the Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens match at WrestleMania 37. “Yeah, the advanced pay-per-view numbers are horrible. I think that come this week we’re going to have some people really lying, you know, who knows? Maybe 1 million people are going to buy the pay-per-view in the afternoon at the last minute. It’s always possible.”

Eva Marie Targeted By WWE Superstars For Being Super Role Model

As reported earlier, this week’s RAW featured the latest vignette hyping Eva Marie’s future return to the red brand. The promo had the former All-Red Everything talking about how she’s the perfection and how some people see her as a supermodel. But she sees herself as a super role model. Following that, a number of tweets were made by her on this newly introduced shtick of her.

Speaking of Role Model, WWE already has one and she has problems with this. Bayley, the self-proclaimed Role Model of the WWE took a jab at Eva Marie on this matter. She responded to one of Marie’s tweets and wrote, “Or super dumb?”

The former Total Divas star fired back and taunted Bayley with a follow-up tweet.

“Silly, DING-DONG , Don’t be upset that the student has become the master. Sincerely your #SUPERRoleModel #EVALution #ALLEverything #WWERAw,” she wrote.

Bayley also to a tweet on the full Eva Marie vignette and wrote, “This is why I hate you idiots.” One fan reacted to that saying that the returnee on Raw can’t be a role model. Rather, his role models are Bayley and AEW star Britt Baker, instead.

The Bombshell also responded to another fan who reminded the likes of Sami Zayn once told WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley that he was worth 1000 Eva Maries. Sami cut a promo consisting of that line during a heated December 2016 RAW segment with then-General Manager Foley, who wanted to trade Zayn to SmackDown, where Eva was one of the roster members. Foley finally mentioned that Zayn was being traded for Marie as Zayn yelled out that he’s worth such 1,000 Maries.

Eva Marie responded to that line by Sami with the below statement,

Sami and Foley have not responded to these comments while Marie continues to be part of Twitter trending as she can certainly hope to make a successful comeback TV appearance in the near future.
