IPL 2020: Jofra Archer Dismisses David Warner For Sixth Time In 2020

David Warner, who is the skipper of SunRisers Hyderabad fell yet again to his nemesis Rajasthan Royals pacer Jofra Archer although his side SunRisers Hyderabad emerged victorious against Rajasthan Royals.

The England fast bowler dismissed opener, David Warner, for the sixth time in seven innings this year. In the very first over of SRH’s successful chase, David Warner hit a boundary but fell in the next delivery after edging the ball to Ben Stokes at slips. After the match got over and SRH won, David Warner spoke about his frustrations about getting out to his nemesis yet again.

David Warner Was Glad To See Manish Pandey And Vijay Shankar Getting Reward For Hard Work

David Warner, who lost his wicket four times to Jofra Archer in Australia’s summer tour of England and again in the previous encounter between SRH and RR in IPL two weeks ago, lasted just four balls this time against the fiery fast bowler, scoring 4 runs.

But Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 83 and Vijay Shankar’s unbeaten 52 proved enough for SRH as they overcame Rajasthan Royals score of 154/6 by losing only 2 wickets. The duo stitched an unbroken 140 runs for the 3rd wicket.

“I think the way we started was fantastic. We were able to bring it back after the powerplay. It’s been a complete game; we have been asking for. Good to see two guys (Pandey and Shankar) getting the reward for their hard work,” Warner said after the match.

“I was frustrated in these games when you come against world class bowlers. There’s bit of swing and there’s bit of seam and you try hard to get through it, but with someone bowling at 150ks, you can’t do much. You can take him on and in my case, I got caught. We saw a lot of dew last night during training, and it came in again,” he added.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals scored 154/6 with Sanju Samson top-scoring with 36 off 26 balls. West Indian Jason Holder of SRH playing his first game was successful picking up 3/33 in four overs.

David Warner Gets Dismissed By Jofra Archer 6th Time In 2020

The duel between Jofra Archer and David Warner makes for some of the best rivalries between bowlers and batsmen over the year. The England pacer Jofra Archer has not allowed the left-handed opener to get on top of him. David Warner has scored 335 runs in 10 matches averaging 37.22 while Jofra Archer has picked up 15 wickets in 11 matches averaging 19.27 in IPL 2020.

Jofra Archer’s recent hold over David Warner began during Australia’s limited-overs tour of England in September. He dismissed David Warner in all four innings the left-handed batsman played, thrice getting him out for single-digit scores.

In match 26 of the IPL 2020, the meeting between SunRisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals saw the dashing opener hitting 48 off 38 balls before being castled by the England pacer. Still, his team SRH lost to Rajasthan by five wickets in that time.

IPL 2020: Aakash Chopra Praises ‘Super Talented’ Rahul Tewatia

Aakash Chopra praised the Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Rahul Tewatia for playing superbly against SunRisers Hyderabad’s Rashid Khan which proved him to be a special talent. Rajasthan Royals came from behind and won the match against SunRisers Hyderabad despite losing wickets at the beginning of their chase.

Rahul Tewatia won accolades from experts after he stitched a partnership of unbeaten 85 with Riyan Parag to propel RR to an unlikely win against SRH. At the same time, Riyan Parag scored 42 off 26 balls while Man of the Match Rahul Tewatia scored 45 from 28 balls.

Aakash Chopra – RR Won A Lost Match

Rajasthan Royals lost the wickets of Ben Stokes who opened along with Jos Buttler and skipper Steven Smith and were reeling at only 78/5 needing 81 more to win off eight overs only. SunRisers Hyderabad posted 158/4 after skipper David Warner scored 48 and Manish Pandey scored 54. But the target appeared daunting until Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia came to the crease together to give RR an unlikely victory.

“When RR came to bat, SRH got three quick wickets – firstly Stokes who was made to open, Smith got run out and then Buttler as well. With their three overseas pillars gone, it was down to Robin Uthappa and the kids.”

Ben Stokes

“And the kids gave a lot of enjoyment. Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag were absolutely top-class. And these youngsters won Rajasthan Royals a match I never felt they could win.”

“So RR registered their third win, which is so important because they had lost their last 4 matches. And they won without Samson and Smith scoring runs and despite Buttler and Stokes failing. So once they fire, what is going to happen,” Aakash Chopra said.

Aakash Chopra commented that Rajasthan Royals won a lost match as three of their top-order batsmen were dismissed early before Rahul Tewatia, and Riyan Parag gave them an unlikely victory. Aakash Chopra credited Rahul Tewatia for performing well despite RR’s top order failing to perform in the match against SRH. Aakash Chopra enjoyed batting of 18-year-old Riyan Parag too who now has 225 runs in 12 matches averaging 25.

Rahul Tewatia Is Special For Executing Shots Under Pressure – Aakash Chopra

Rashid Khan picked two wickets conceding 25 runs in four overs but his 18th over proved expensive as Rahul Tewatia hit him for four boundaries. The last four overs saw 58 runs as both Rahul Tewatia, and Riyan Parag went on a big-hitting spree.

“Everything else is fine, but that 18th over of Rashid Khan, first ball four with a reverse sweep, second ball four with another reverse sweep and an even better shot. The third ball when he hit the boundary over the covers, it was the best of them all.”

Rashid Khan (SRH)

“If you can execute such a nice shot under so much pressure, then Rahul Tewatia, you are a special player. I really like watching you and you won RR a match they were about to lose,” he added.

Rahul Tewatia came into reckoning after he scored 53 runs off 31 balls including seven sixes against a hapless KXIP attack as KXIP lost despite posting 223/2.  Rahul Tewatia has scored exactly 300 runs in 27 matches and 19 innings, but the bulk of the runs came in IPL 2020 where he amassed 189 runs averaging 37.8 at a strike rate of 152.42.

Rajasthan Royals are at 6th place with three wins and four losses having six points in seven matches while SRH are one place ahead in terms of better Net Run Rate. Rajasthan Royals face Delhi Capitals next while SRH will face CSK next.
