Bengaluru Bulls tackled the Thalaivas last man Manjeet Chillar to inflict the first All-Out of the game and silenced the home crowd as the scoreline read 10-0.

But, Bengaluru Bulls had their noses upfront as they went into the halftime break 17-10. Ajith Kumar managed to get out of the grasp of Sehrawat and a brilliant foothold from Ran Singh meant Bengaluru lead got narrowed down to just five as the teams resumed play. A failed Do-or-Die raid from Rohit Kumar, a back-kick from raiding Ajay Thakur, and a body grab from Mohit Chillar further reduced the deficit to 19-17.

Their hope of mounting a comeback, however, suffered a major letdown when Ankit raided two players in a single raid and Saurabh Nandal completed his High 5 to restore the seven-point lead.  Tamil Thalaivas succumbed to another All-Out as Pawan Sehrawat completed another Super 10. The home side did’nt show any signs of resurgence and happily surrendered to the loss.  With this win, Bengaluru Bulls moved to the second spot in the points table with 27 points from 8
matches. They take on a feeble Puneri Paltans side on Wednesday, who are withering at the bottom of the pile.

Panchkula, Dec 15: UP Yoddha and Tamil Thalaivas played out a thrilling 25-25 tie in a tense encounter of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Saturday.

Prashanth Kumar Rai’s successful raid in the last minute clinched the tie for UP Yoddha’s. Rai was also the top scorer as he picked up 12 raid points.

Tamil Thalaivas would be disappointed in the end as they had the chance to win the match. Ajay Thakur top scored for Thalaivas with six points whereas Amit Hooda got a high five.

Tamil Thalaivas got off to a quick start as Ajay and Athul MS picked up raid points and led 5-1 after four minutes. UP Yoddha responded through Prashanth as he scored three raid points in two minutes to level the match at 5-5. The next few minutes of the match were closely contested as both teams traded raid and tackle points.

After 15 minutes, UP Yoddha held a slender one-point advantage to lead 10-9. A super tackle in the 18th minute gave Tamil Thalaivas the edge as they went into the break leading 13-10.

The second half followed the pattern of the earlier half with both teams unable to hold on to a lead. Tamil Thalaivas led 16-13 after 25 minutes but UP Yoddha cut that lead to just one point in the 28th minute.

Nitesh Kumar was in fine defensive form as he sent back Thalaivas raiders to the bench regularly. With just over five minutes to go, D Pradap made a two-point raid to give Thalaivas 21-19 lead. Prashanth’s two-point raid in the 37th minute reduced the gap to just one point.

It was a tense finish as Pardap made a successful raid in the 39th minute and Prashanth also scored a point with the score 25-24 in Thalaivas’ favour. Rai made a successful raid in the dying seconds to tie the match at 25-25.

PKL: Thalaivas beat Titans 31-35 in thrilling contest

Pune, Nov 26: Tamil Thalaivas returned to winning ways with a 31-25 victory over Telugu Titans in a high voltage Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) clash at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex here on Monday.

Despite the defeat, the Titans remain fourth in Zone B with 32 points from 11 matches while the Thalaivas are at the fifth spot with 30 from 15 games.

The Titans had the better start, building up an early lead. Their star raider Rahul Chaudhari, who has struggled this season, showed signs of getting back to form with a series of successful raids.

But he and the other Titans raiders struggled a bit later on.

The Thalaivas on the other hand, improved their performance in both attack and defence as they gradually closed down the lead. Sukesh Hedge pulled the Tamils at 8-8 with a three-point ‘super raid’.

That would prove to be a turning point as the Thalaivas staged a strong comeback to turn the game on its head. Rahul failed in a second consecutive raid as Thalaivas took the lead for the first time in the game.

They then inflicted an all out on their opponents to extend the advantage.

Another couple of super raids followed as the Thalaivas tightened their grip on the proceedings. Their captain Ajay Thakur played a starring role with several successful raids.

The veteran Manjit Chillar was a pillar of strength in defence as the Thalaivas pulled off a well deserved victory.

Puae, Nov 24: Riding on a terrific raiding performance by Rohit Kumar, Bengaluru Bulls beat Tamil Thalaivas 36-22 in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match here on Saturday.

Kumar scored 11 raid points and got able support from Pawan Sehrawat, who scored 6 points.

Ajay Thakur top scored for Tamil Thalaivas with 6 points in what was an subdued performance by the team.

Bengaluru Bulls remain top of the table in Zone B whereas Tamil Thaliavas remain bottom of the table.

Bengaluru Bulls made a strong start to lead 5-1 after three minutes as Kashiling Adake and Pawan Sehrawat got in a couple of raid points.

In the 7th minute Rohit Kumar got another raid point to give Bengaluru Bulls 6-2.

Bengaluru Bulls inflicted an all out in the next minute to lead 10-3. Jasvir Singh got a couple of raid points for Tamil Thalaivas as they trailed 5-11 after nine minutes.

Tamil Thalaivas rallied back into the first half to get a couple of points on board as they ended first half strongly. Tamil Thalaivas went into the break trailing by five points.

Rohit Kumar was having a great game and made a two-point raid in the 25th minute to give Bengaluru Bulls 22-14 lead. Tamil Thalaivas forced a super tackle in the 28thminute as they trailed 18-24.

All hopes of a Tamil Thalaivas comeback were officially laid to rest when they suffered an all out in the 36thminute.

The all out meant that Bengaluru had opened upa 12-point unassailable lead. A couple of tackle and raid points in the last few minutes meant that Tamil Thalaivas had no answer to Bengaluru’s dominance.

Ahmedabad, Nov 21: Defending champions Patna Pirates witnessed a strong performance by its raiders as they thumped Tamil Thalaivas 45-27 in a zone B clash of the ongoing sixth season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Wednesday.

Patna skipper Pardeep Narwal, who collected his ninth super 10 of the season, picked 13 points, while Deepak Narwal also had a great night with 10 points.

Tamil Thalaivas’ defence had a night to forget as they scored just four tackle points. skipper Ajay Thakur chipped in with eight raid points for the Thalaivas.

After this win, Patna are now second in Zone B with 38 points after 13 matches whereas the Thalaivas lie at the bottom of the table with 25 points from 13 matches.

Pardeep got Patna up and running with two raids in the first minute. The Thalaivas were slow to get out of the blocks as they scored just one point in five minutes to trail 1-6.

They suffered an all out as Patna asserted their dominance to lead 10- 1.

Thakur put points on the board for Thaliavas as he made two successful raids. After 10 minutes of play, Patna Pirates held an eight-point advantage as they led 12-4.

Thakur came up with a two-point raid in the 13th minute to cut the deficit to five points for Thalaivas before coming back strongly before the end of the half as they inflicted an all out to trail 11-14.

Deepak’s two-point raid in the 20th minute meant that Patna Pirates led 16-13 at the break.

Tamil Thalaivas started the second half strongly with Surjeet making a two-point raid but Deepak responded for Patna Pirates with a raid of his own. Patna Pirates led 20-15 after 25 minutes of play and were looking in control of the match.

Jasvir Singh got Tamil Thalaivas back in the match with a two-point raid in the 29th minute. Patna Pirates however inflicted another all out in the 30th minute to lead 27-20.

Tamil Thalaivas defence let them down as apart from Manjeet Chhillar, no other defender could stop Patna’s raiders. After 35 minutes, Tamil Thalaivas defence scored just four points as they trailed 22-32.

Pardeep made a two-point raid with his trademark ‘dubki’ in the 37th minute to give Patna Pirates 37-23 lead. Manjeet averted an all out for Tamil Thalaivas with a quick raid.

However, Patna Pirates inflicted another all out in the 40th minute as they won 45-27.

Mumbai, Nov 15 (IANS) U Mumba ended their home leg on a happy note after they thrashed Tamil Thalaivas 36-22 in an inter-zonal clash of the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the NSCI stadium here on Thursday.

On the last day at their home, the home side’s defenders came all gun blazing to collect 17 tackle points, while their raiders also contributed with 14 points to help U Mumba register its 10th win from 13 games this season.

Moreover, it was the host’s fourth win from six games at their home and this win also strenthen their hopes of a play-off berth.

On the other hand, it was seventh loss for the Ajay Thakur-led side.

Darshan got U Mumba up and running with two raids in the first three minutes as they trailed 2-3. For Tamil Thalaivas, Ajay looked in fine touch at the beginning of the match.

Siddharth scored a raid point in the sixth minute as U Mumba trailed 3- 5. U Mumba forced a super tackle in the 10th minute to trail 7-8.

It looked like a close match in the first half as both teams continued to trade raid and tackle points. In the 14th minute U Mumba inflicted the first all out of the match to open a 6-point lead. At the end of the first half, U Mumba led 18-12.

The second half saw U Mumba take charge of the match as they didn’t allow Tamil Thalaivas to make any sort of comeback. U Mumba defence held their ground on multiple occasions and didn’t let Thalaivas raiders settle in.

The game was all but over in the 30th minute when U Mumba inflicted another all out to open up an 11- point gap as they led 28-17. Ajay Thakur scored a couple of raid points but didn’t get enough support from his team mates.

The defensive trio of Fazel Atrachali, Surender and Rohit Rana were in superb form all night as they piled on the pressure on Thalaivas’ raiders. The biggest difference between the two teams was their defence.

Tamil Thalaivas’ defence had a disappointing game as they scored just five tackle points. Compared to that U Mumba had 17 tackle points.

With less than two minutes to go, U Mumba led 33-21 and looked on course to end their home leg with a comfortable victory.

In the end it was an easy win for U Mumba in front of their home crowd.

Chennai, Oct 9: Tamil Thalaivas succumbed to their second successive defeat in a row as they lost to Telugu Titans 28-33 on the third day of the Pro Kabaddi tournament at the packed Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.

Playing their first game of the sixth season, Telugu Titans rode on star raider Rahul Chaudhuri’s nine raid points and Iranian Mohsen Maghsoudlou’s all round effort (three raid points, four tackle points) to down Tamil Thalaivas.

Chaudhari scored nine points and made crucial raids for the Titans. Ajay Thakur (9 raid points) and Amit Hooda (5 tackle points) were the top players for TamilThalaivas but their effort wasn’t enough.

The home team, looking to take inspiration from their remarkable back against U.P.Yoddha last night where they fought back from 7-27 to lose 32-37, raced to a two-point lead riding Athul MS’s successful raid and Titans’ star raider Chaudhari being sent out of the mat in his first attempt.

Tamil Thalaivas led till 8-7 in front of a vociferous home crowd who were lapping up the south Indian derby.

But from there on, they lost ground as the Titans fashioned a late all out to take a healthy 16-9 lead and go into the break 17-11.

Chaudhuri, who stepped down from his captaincy ahead of this season to hand over the reins to young all-rounder Vishal Bharadwaj, started the second half by getting the back of Manjeet Chhillar in the first raid to further extend Titans’ lead.

After 25 minutes, Telugu Titans led 21-16 and the match hung in balance.

Telugu Titans were the fitter team with their defence and raiders looking sharper.

It was a Titans Tuesday Tho for Chaudhari’s team as they maintained their composure in the last few minutes of the match and didn’t give Thalaivas a chance to make a comeback.

Amit Hooda attained a high five in the last minute of the match but it wasna¿t enough. Tamil Thalaivas made critical errors throughout the match and crashed to 28-33 defeat.

Pro Kabaddi: Tamil Thalaivas stun defending champions Patna Pirates in lopsided contest

Chennai, Oct 7: Tamil Thalaivas stunned defending champions Patna Pirates 42-26 to end their winless run at home in the opening game of the Pro Kabaddi League 2018 here at the packed Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Patna, aiming to pocket their fourth consecutive title, looked completely out of sorts in the first period, getting all out on two occasions as lacking offensive as well as defensive skill to trouble the home team who looked stronger in both departments.

India captain Ajay Thakur starred for the hosts with a total of 14 raid points, seven of the them in the first essay, as fellow raider Surjeet Singh also bagged seven to delfate their rivals from the outset.

Amit Hooda defended excellently while seasoned campaigners Jasvir Singh and all-rounder Manjeet Chhillar were also on song as Patna were first all out with the score reading 10-2 inside the first ten minutes, and then falling further behind 23-8 towards the end of the first half.

After the first all out, Patna skipper Pardeep Narwal recovered from a poor start where he was sent out of the mat in his first raid to grab two points and usher hopes of a revival.

From 11-2, the hot favourites going into the tie clawed back to make it 11-5 riding Pardeep Narwal’s efforts.

But Thakur was in the mood and continued to raid venomously to leave the visitors reeling at 26-8 during the break.

The script did not change in the second half as Patna were all out for the third time soon after the restart.

With the gulf between the two teams widening to 24 points after the all out, a comeback looked nearly impossible despite Pardeep Narwal’s (11 raid points) efforts.

Patna even managed to inflict an all out on their more superior rivals on the day, but it was little too late as the Tamil Thalaivas ended their barren run at home in style.

Pro Kabaddi League 2018

The three-month format – introduced last year – continues in Season 6 as the 12 participating teams are divided into two zones of six teams each.

Every team will play a set of 15 intra-zone and seven inter-zonal matches – in the ‘Inter-zonal challenge week’.

The top three teams of each zone will then head to the play-offs, comprising the qualifiers and eliminators, in which the top-ranked team from the two zones will get one extra opportunity to qualify for the final.

PKL: Tamil Thalaivas Down U Mumba, Delhi Pip Jaipur

Jaipur, Oct 10 (IANS) Tamil Thalaivas and Dabang Delhi registered victories in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Tuesday.

Star raider Ajay Thakur (15 points) inspired Tamil Thalaivas to a 38-35 win over U Mumba in an intra-zone clash.

Tamil Thalaivas now have 40 points from 20 matches and are fifth in the Zone B table. U Mumba are now fourth in Zone A with 56 points from 21 matches.

In the other contest of the day, Dabang Delhi edged out hosts Jaipur Pink Panthers 35-34 to dent the hopes of the Rajasthan outfit to qualify for the play-offs from Zone A.

Jaipur, however, still have a slim chance of moving to the next round.

The win brought a nine-match winless streak to an end for Delhi as they registered their fifth win of the campaign.

Meraj Sheykh scored seven points for Delhi and was ably supported by R. Sriram, who also scored seven points.

Nitin Rawal scored 14 points for Jaipur Pink Panthers but his effort went in vain.

Following the defeat, Jaipur are fifth in Zone with 51 points from 19 matches.

Delhi are bottom of the table with 36 points from 20 matches. The Capital side is already out of the race for qualification to the play-offs.

Bulls Beat Thalaivas In PKL

Chennai, Oct 5 (IANS) Bengaluru Bulls beat Tamil Thalaivas 45-35 in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match here on Thursday.

Rohit Kumar led the charge for Bulls and scored 17 points. It was yet another disappointing game for the Thalaivas as they crashed to their 13th defeat of the season.

Ajay Thakur scored 15 raid points for Tamil Thalaivas but was unable to inspire his team. It was the Bulls’ defence that proved to be the difference as both teams scored equal amount of raid points.

Bengaluru Bulls overtook Tamil Thalaivas in Zone B and are now are fifth with 39 points from 19 matches. Tamil Thalaivas are bottom of the table with 35 points from 19 matches.

Rohit Kumar scored two raid points in two minutes to give Bengaluru Bulls 3-1 lead. Ajay Thakur scored a raid in the third minute as Tamil Thalaivas trailed 2-3.

In the first six minutes, neither team got a tackle point with Bengaluru Bulls leading 7-4. Both teams got their first tackle point in the ninth minute as Bengaluru Bulls led 8-6.

Rohit Kumar scored with a two-point raid in the 13th minute give Bengaluru Bulls 12-7 lead. Tamil Thalaivas forced a super tackle in the next minute to cut the lead to just three points. Bengaluru Bulls inflicted an all out in the 18th minute as they went into half time leading 19-10.

Bengaluru Bulls began the second half emphatically as they inflicted an all out in the 23rd minute to lead 27-10. In the next few minutes, Bengaluru Bulls piled more misery on Thalaivas to lead 32-13 in the 27th minute.

In the first nine minutes of the second half, Bulls scored 18 points compared to Thalaivas’ six. Ajay Thakur then sprung into action and scored four raid points in two minutes as Tamil Thalaivas trailed 21-38 in the 32nd minute.

Ajay Thakur scored another raid point in the 35th minute as Thalaivas inflicted an all out to trail 27-41. Bengaluru Bulls forced a super tackle in the 38th minute as they led 44-32.

Tamil Thalaivas left it too little too late and despite Thakur’s late heroics crashed to a 45-35 defeat.
