WWE Draft 2021 Confirmed To Return In October

WWE Draft 2021 has now been confirmed to take place next month. After a number of speculations and rumors around the date of the event, WWE has finally come up with an official announcement during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw around the process that will switch things up for the superstars.

A promo aired during the RAW episode from the TD Garden in Boston that officially announced the beginning of the WWE Draft 2021 for the October 1 SmackDown on FOX. It will then be wrapped with the October 4 RAW episode on the USA Network.

WWE Draft 2021 Confirmed To Return In October 1

The October 1 SmackDown was originally scheduled to take place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, but due to Hurricane Ida, the show was moved to the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. The October 4 episode of RAW is now scheduled to take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Possible Reason Behind Big E Becoming New WWE Champion

WWE Draft 2021 date was changed in recent times

The October 4 RAW episode, which is the second night of WWE Draft 2021 was also supposed to be the RAW 30th season premiere. But WWE hasn’t confirmed about it, as of this writing. Per the previous reports, the draft season will also begin the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments for the WWE male and female superstars. There’s also no official update on the same.

Andrew Zarian of Mat Men wrestling podcast reports that Big E winning the WWE title was initially planned for the original WWE Draft 2021 date of RAW. But then it was preponed to this week as WWE wanted to offer something special to their viewers against Monday Night Football. This was also a last-minute decision to increase RAW ratings since AEW Dynamite beat WWE RAW in the 18-49 demo ratings by a very small margin, last week.

WWE Draft 2021 Confirmed To Return In October 2

Big E was also rumored to be switched to Raw in WWE Draft 2021. However, with the WWE Title win, he is already a part of the red brand as The New Day has reunited on the same brand once again. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods celebrated with him for the title win as Raw went off the air. The group has been apart since the 2020 WWE Draft.

Possible Reason Behind Big E Becoming New WWE Champion

As seen in the main event of this week’s RAW, Big E successfully cashed-in his Money in The Bank 2021 contract on Bobby Lashley to become the new WWE Champion. Since E is a Smackdown superstar, it was a surprising decision to see the cash-in happening on Raw, especially given the fact that he was rumored to be drafted on the red brand in the upcoming edition of Raw. WWE reportedly changed plans for the cash-in happening, as per the reports following this week’s Raw.

Some fans believe that the title win was indeed a last-minute decision to increase RAW ratings since AEW Dynamite beat WWE RAW in the 18-49 demo ratings by a very small margin, last week.

To keep things interesting on Raw in Boston, Big E captured the WWE Title from Bobby Lashley right after Lashley retained his title over RAW Tag Team Champion Randy Orton in the original main event of the night.

In an update, Andrew Zarian of Mat Men reports that the WWE Title change was initially slated to happen for the original WWE Draft date for RAW but then it was preponed for this week. This was the reason that Lashley vs. Orton was also pulled off Extreme Rules 2021, earlier this week.

Big E is back on WWE Raw brand

WWE confirmed on this week’s RAW that the 2021 WWE Draft will begin with the October 1 SmackDown from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, and will then end with the October 4 RAW from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

That being said, Big E will now be joining the Raw brand meaning that The New Day has reunited on the same brand. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods celebrated with E to send Raw off the air. The group has disbanded since the 2020 WWE Draft who only made special appearances together since then.

In more news to the title switch, Big E’s title win was also a move to retain WWE’s viewership against Monday Night Football. WWE came up with the teasing as the superstar announced on Twitter that he plans on cashing-in his MITB contract on the show from Boston.

“Let’s let that cat out of the bag…I intend on cashing in my Money in the Bank contract tonight and cashing in to become WWE Champion.”

Then Big E continued hyping up the cash-in throughout the night in order to keep the anticipation high around the show.

WWE’s Plans For Drew McIntyre After A Couple Of Losses On Raw

WWE made Drew McIntyre literally untouchable since the Royal Rumble win in 2020. He went on to defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at the main event of Wrestlemania. This led him to carry the load on Monday Night Raw during the pandemic era, moving forward.

In the entire 2020, Drew McIntyre suffered only two clean pinfall losses. The first one came at the hands of Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell and the second one came at Survivor Series against Roman Reigns in a Champion vs. Champion matchup. Fans hoped him to recapture the WWE Championship, earlier this year which wasn’t the case.

Bobby Lashley is the reigning champion on Raw who defeated Drew McIntyre on multiple occasions to retain his title. Things got worse for the Scottish Warrior in recent times as she suffered a series of losses. He was first pinned by Damian Priest in a United States Title match. Then he lost against Sheamus in a number-one contender’s match for that title.

WWE is keeping options open for Drew McIntyre

A post-match beatdown on Sheamus was delivered by him as a lot of fans thought this was a sign of a heel turn for Drew McIntyre. At this point, WWE is keeping their options open for the top Raw Superstar. Ringside News provided an update regarding him and learned that the creative team is willing to keep all the options open.

A tenured member of the creative team told the source that “all options are open” with Drew McIntyre. This includes “RAW, Smackdown. Heel, babyface.” It was explicitly noted that “Vince and Bruce may know,” the future plans but that information is not readily available internally. This means chances are there that he could be drafted to Smackdown in October, proving the speculations true.

The source also confirmed that the policy is still in place where most Superstars are unaware about their own creative direction unless the head of the creative team Bruce Prichard gives the green light to share. “It’s not an across-the-board mandate, but for the most part, yes,” a source stated that the policy is still intact. It was not noted whether Drew McIntyre has any idea about his future, either.

Current Plans WWE Draft 2021, KOTR And QOTR Tournaments

As reported earlier, there have been some plans to host WWE Draft 2021 edition, sooner than later ensuring that WWE Raw and Smackdown roster will soon be looking a lot different, down the road. Originally supposed to go down after Summerslam 2021, the process was pushed back a bit but it will be happening, switching things for good on WWE programming.

As of now, WWE Draft 2021 is reportedly scheduled to begin on October 1. After being rumored to happen earlier this summer, it was reported by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men wrestling podcast that it’s now been internally confirmed that the Draft will begin during the October 1 edition of SmackDown on FOX which will then wrap with the October 4 edition of RAW.

It was previously reported that the October 4 RAW show will also mark the 30th season premiere of Monday Night Raw. There’s no confirmation is available on whether that has been lately changed. On a related note, the October 8 SmackDown from the SAP Center in San Jose, California will mark the blue brand season premiere.

As reported earlier, the finals of these two tourneys should take place at the 2021 Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 21.

It’s been noted by Wrestling INC that WWE could be planning to have the RAW season premiere on October 4, and then carry out matches from the red brand on the October 11 RAW from the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. WWE Draft 2021: No Concrete Decisions Made For The Show

WWE Draft 2021 is being talked around the IWC given this is one of the exciting nights of an entire year where the scenario of the roster gets changed. Apart from switching names from Raw to Smackdown and vice-versa, the NXT roster also exports names to the mainstay scene to keep on the fresh incomings. Overall, this is the procedure that helps WWE to shuffle things up and make things brighter.

As per the earlier reports, WWE Draft 2021 is being planned for early October but it is too early to know what they are doing at this point. But it certainly won’t stop the rumor mill from talking about the annual tradition as the fans would obviously want to predict what’s in the pipeline.

Ringside News has brought some updates regarding WWE Draft 2021, recently. The source stated that Drew McIntyre is on his way to SmackDown from Raw (in return Big E expected to switch to Raw). While this is still a possibility, nothing is confirmed at this juncture.

The source was told by a tenured member of the team that the report about Drew McIntyre heading to SmackDown is “neither accurate nor inaccurate.” At this point, it is “premature,” because “the draft has not been decided.”

Roman Reigns previously talked about McIntyre and it added a lot of fuel around the top superstar moving to the blue brand. During an interview with the Cheap Heat podcast, he mentioned the following,

“in a perfect world if there was an opportunity to pass the torch to [McIntyre], he’s the one guy I think that has captivated my attention in that manner, but at the same time he ain’t there and it’s only because I’m still here and so solid within my foothold, my stronghold.”

While some exciting switches are expected for WWE Draft 2021, fans will have to wait a bit more to see those, happening. Previous reports claimed that the shake-up was about to happen on August 31st and September 3rd. But on a changed circumstance, Andrew Zarian, of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, informed that October 4th is now a new date for the 2021 edition. Confirmations from WWE’s part are likely to arrive in due course.

Spoiler On Queen Of The Ring 2021 Tournament’s Debut Date In WWE

Per the earlier reports provided by Wrestling Inc, WWE is all set to introduce the Queen of the Ring tournament, later this year. It appears that three years after the first-ever Evolution PPV event, the company will bring something special for the female roster of the company, yet again. The timing of the tourney was apparently indicated.

WWE’s first-ever Queen of the Ring tournament is reportedly scheduled to air over RAW and SmackDown in the month of October. While Wrestling Inc exclusively brought the news of WWE having plans for the all-women’s tournament to be held this year, another source has come up with an update of when this special series dedicated to women could commence.

It was reported by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men wrestling podcast that the Queen of the Ring tournament is currently scheduled to begin on the October 8 SmackDown episode. It will then continue on the October 11 RAW episode. This means the inaugural tournament will be ongoing on WWE TV once the roster gets shaken up via the WWE Draft, a week prior.

Queen of the Ring tournament planned after WWE Draft

The proposed dates for the Queen of the Ring tournament hints that it would begin right after the WWE Draft, which is reportedly scheduled for either the October 1 SmackDown and the October 4 RAW, or the October 4 RAW and the October 8 SmackDown. These dates were also confirmed by Andrew Zarian himself in an earlier report regarding the 2021 edition of Draft.

The October 4 RAW is also scheduled to be the RAW season 30 premiere and it’s likely that the Draft will take place on October 1 and October 4, if the Queen of the Ring tournament begins on October 8. WWE is yet to confirm anything regarding this tourney as we’re still a couple of months away from this first-ever tradition as well as the draft. For now, the company is focused on carrying out a successful SummerSlam 2021 pay-per-view.

Spoiler On Queen Of The Ring 2021 Tournament’s Debut Date In WWE 58

WWE holding Queen of the Ring in October makes sense as they will reportedly have an all-men show in Saudi Arabia on that month which is why the female will have to sit out of a PPV event in that month. This is the same reason why back in 2018, the company held Evolution. It appears they will be coming up with yet another consolation prize for the women instead of a PPV event in the fall of this year in the form of the female version of King of the Ring.

WWE Draft 2021 Date Reportedly Merged With Raw Season Premiere

WWE Draft 2021 was reportedly set for late August to shake things up on the main roster. It is an annual process to change the rosters so that some fresh matchups could be delivered in due course. RAW and SmackDown are supposed to change enough to get rid of repetitiveness and to ensure that the viewers keep on engaged. It appears that the fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the next shake-up edition arrive.

It was previously reported that WWE Draft 2021 would begin with the August 30 Monday Night RAW from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, and then end with the September 3 Friday Night SmackDown from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. That schedule might have been gone through a slight change.

This means the October 4 RAW episode will be the season premiere episode and Night 1 or Night 2 of the WWE Draft 2021. It should also be noted that Raw will be celebrating the 30th season premiere for WWE’s flagship program. This ensures that particular episode is going to be pretty big, three months from now. No further information on the shows has been disclosed, yet.

WWE is yet to announce the locations for the October shows yet, but they recently noted that those dates will be confirmed in the coming weeks. It’ll be interesting to see what WWE Draft 2021 brings us, eventually, down the road.

They have a lot of options available to shuffle up and present a stacked night of Raw at the beginning of October. Plus, they could do it as live fans return to the crowd. Pushing back things means the current roster will get more of an opportunity to perform in front of live fans, for now.

WWE Draft 2021: The Undertaker & Goldberg Present On Internal Roster List

As reported earlier, WWE Draft 2021 is being planned to make its comeback, later this year to shake things up on the main roster for good. Apparently, WWE management has selected the last week of August and the first week of September to conduct the process, this year. They have not officially announced anything about the upcoming event, but reports from reliable sources have confirmed the same affirming that a roster shake-up is on the way.

WWE will definitely nurture different possibilities to make things interesting for WWE Draft 2021, but Brock Lesnar still doesn’t appear to be an option. But, on the other hand, two big names who are either part-timer or retired superstar, is still on the list.

The source was told that “even ‘legends’ and ‘part timers’ are currently available on the list of superstars. Goldberg, who is a part-timer, and The Undertaker who doesn’t belong to any individual brand, are also listed. There’s no update on why these two names have been added to the list but the notable thing is that Brock Lesnar is missing.

It should be noted Ringside News was told that the creative team was informed that “there are no plans with Brock” and they’re “not even in discussions” to bring back him in time for Summerslam. There are plenty of options available for the WWE Draft 2021 in August/September, but the former champion may not be involved. Perhaps, he is yet to sign a contract with the WWE.

WWE is currently gearing up for a return to live touring which runs through this summer and the possibility is that they will follow it up with a roster shake-up via WWE Draft 2021. The entire pool of superstars including NXT could be kept on the table, but Brock Lesnar’s name is yet to be added. Unless and until he really wants to make a comeback, it’s hard for the WWE management to include him into the scenario.

WWE Looking For A Major Roster Shake-Up In 2021 Fall

WWE is always looking forward to the future which makes NXT the most interesting brand, nowadays in comparison to what Raw or SmackDown has to offer. There are complaints on how those talents are utilized but the creative team is always trying to bring changes to the scene. Even at this point, there’re some reports that hint of a huge roster change, sooner than later.

Although no such confirmation is available regarding WWE’s booking, perhaps a big change is on the horizon. As reported earlier, the WWE Draft and it’s coming back, just after SummerSlam as the company to ensure a shake-up. The reported plan is to hold the next Draft during the last week of August and the first week of September.

That will certainly occur a roster shake-up in due course. The most interesting part is that NXT will be involved in the Draft process, this year which will give WWE officials a lot of options to nurture with. That was not the case last time around as Vince McMahon and Co. was only focused on the main roster.

Major NXT call-ups expected on WWE main roster

It’s been noted Karrion Kross and Bronson Reed were brought in for SmackDown to wrestle in dark matches in front of the officials. There is certainly interest in calling Kross to either Raw or SmackDown as they are planning to have him back for SmackDown dark matches on more occasions.

Now, PW Insider confirms that WWE is looking toward NXT this time around for the next Draft. That could definitely open up a lot more possibilities for the officials than just passing around superstars from Raw to SmackDown and vice versa. They have also recently called up Piper Niven, from NXT UK and there’re rumors which claim former NXT UK Champ Kay Lee Ray to enter the fray, too.

“One of the reason the talents were brought in (and others could be brought in over the next few weeks) is that WWE has a Draft scheduled for September and is looking at different talents they can pull up from NXT to accentuate the main roster as they prepare to shake things up heading into the Fall.”

Ringside News previously reported that Vince McMahon is looking for more characters and that’s how he wants fresh names to get involved in a kayfabe altercation with other characters. Hopefully, the WWE Chairman will get a lot more to choose from, later this year.

WWE Draft 2021: Top Smackdown Superstar Moving To Raw?

WWE Draft 2021 has been approaching closer and chatters are being heard around the possible plans around the event. The latest reports suggest that Big E could be one of the top names who could be moved to Raw from SmackDown.

The New Day was split up in WWE Draft 2020 with Big E competing as a singles wrestler on SmackDown, while Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods continued their stint as a tag team on RAW. They have also become tag team champs for the 11th time before this year’s WrestleMania. According to @Wrestlevotes, a new idea making the rounds that Big E could join them on RAW as WWE plans to move him back to bring the trio back as a team.

Kevin Owens Reportedly Taking Time Off From WWE

WWE Draft 2021: Top Smackdown Superstar Moving To Raw? 113

The idea is that Big E would still be pushed as a singles wrestler on RAW after WWE Draft 2021. The New Day would still be acting as a tag team but as per need, they will be acting as singles competitors. (Just like Kofi Kingston getting a title match opportunity against Bobby Lashley at Money In The Bank pay-per-view or Xavier Woods competing in a singles contest against Bobby Lashley inside Hell In A Cell on Raw)

WWE Draft 2021 could offer new opportunities to Big E

Big E moving to RAW would give him a fresh start on the red brand following WWE Draft 2021, a push that he’s been looking forward to, for a long time. Him, remaining on SmackDown in the 2020 WWE Draft was one of the most shockers while Woods and Kingston had been sent to RAW. He has had one WWE Intercontinental Title reign since then, which lasted around four months until dropping the belt at this year’s WrestleMania to Apollo Crews.

In recent times, E has been involved in regaining the Intercontinental Title, feuding with Apollo Crews alongside the likes of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. He has been rumored for a main-event push for a long time but that has not happened. Hopefully, WWE Draft 2021 will bring him some good news, down the road.

As reported earlier, WWE Draft 2021 is currently scheduled to return on the August 30 RAW and the September 3 SmackDown episode. There have been talks of WWE possibly bringing a major shake-up to their roster on these two episodes. After a gap of one year, NXT could also be involved in the Draft that ensures some fresh faces will be imported into the mainstay scene.
