“Originally, me and The Bucks were teaming together. I think at that point, Kevin Steen, now Kevin Owens in WWE, was trying to figure out something he wanted to do in PWG. I think it was actually Kevin who approached us with the idea of, ‘Hey. We should be a group. We should be a faction.’ Kevin had been a babyface at PWG for a long time and he just wanted to do something different so he turned heel.

“I don’t remember exactly how he did it, but I remember he turned heel, and we all joined forces together. I think we were all just talking backstage, and I think it was The Bucks who mentioned something like, ‘Yea, we’re like the Mount Rushmore of PWG.’ Then Kevin and I were like, ‘That should be our name. We should be the Mount Rushmore of wrestling. We are Mount Rushmore.’ We had cut the promo backstage after the show.

Adam Cole

“Kevin had mentioned it as well because we still weren’t sure if that’s the name we were going to go with. Kevin said, ‘We’re the Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling’, and the comments were ‘Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore’, so we were like, ok, that’s our name. Here we go. We already had the shirt idea with Mount Rushmore with our faces on it. That shirt sold really well.

“That was how that stuck and how that started which was really, really cool. Between The Bucks and Kevin, those two helped me advance in my career more than they take credit for or more than they realize. I won the PWG World title because of Kevin. I got booked in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla because of The Bucks. So, those three have always had my back 100%. So, the Mount Rushmore thing felt so natural because we were all so close.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I love pro wrestling, and I think in some capacity I’m going to be involved, whether it be behind the scenes or running a school, I think I’m going to be involved for the rest of my life, but I do like the idea of having something else to do when wrestling is finished.

“I get excited at the idea, I’ve told the chat so many times that I want to voice act in a video game. Not play myself, but play another character or commentating an e-sports event. I want to stick my toe into more stuff in the gaming world.”

“They were awesome the whole way through. I think what really helped is, during everything going on, there was a short extension that I ended up signing. To me, it was such a no-brainer.

“They didn’t have to convince me, they didn’t have to talk me into it. I was in the middle of a program with one of my best friends Kyle O’Reilly. It was really important to me that I got to finish that.”

“For the wrestling fans, moments are so special, but for the wrestler the moments are equally, if not more special. In your career you’re lucky if you get one night where you can be a complete surprise and make a group full of fans go, ‘Oh my god, I didn’t expect him to be here’, and on top of that be really excited about it.

Adam Cole

“I cherish that night. The entire process was so wild. WE had done everything we could to keep it a secret as possible.

“I flew into a different city the night before. I ended up showing up at the venue while the show was going on. I was hidden in a trailer all day. Tony Kahn and AEW took every measure necessary to make sure that me being there was as much as a surprise at it possibly could be. That’s included too, the talent. It was really cool to be involved in that.”

Adam Cole On If It Was AEW’s Impact On WWE That They Had To Change NXT

Former WWE star and a former NXT champion Adam Cole who is currently working on the rival promotion of WWE the All Elite Wrestling recently talked about the impact of AEW on WWE that they were forced to change the NXT.

Adam Cole had been one of the biggest names on the NXT for over four years. He was one of the fan favorites and indeed one of the biggest attractions of the NXT. He was a constant main event star in the third brand of WWE. Everyone was expecting him to be one of the biggest stars in WWE in the near future.

Adam Cole On If It Was AEW’s Impact On WWE That They Had To Change NXT

But that did not happen as WWE decided to release one of their biggest stars and not giving him a contract extension. The biggest rivals of WWE right now AEW did not hesitate to Grab one of the biggest professional wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling today. It is quite clear that Adam Cole will have a big push in his new promotion sooner or later.

But is it true that WWE had to change NXT because they’ve are feeling threatened by their newest rival? NXT was not doing very well lately. There were a lot of bindings for the previous in charge of the NXT, Triple H.

Adam Cole

Vince McMahon has finally decided to take charge of the NXT and they are producing the show in a different way. They will be focusing more on home grown talent in the NXT from now on. There will be no more big stars from outside of WWE coming to NXT.

Adam Cole who is currently working on the rival promotion of WWE the All Elite Wrestling recently spoke to Chris Jericho’s “Talk Is Jericho” podcast where he talked about the impact of AEW on WWE that they were forced to change the NXT. He said;

Adam Cole
Adam Cole. Image Credits: Twitter

“I think that’s definitely a possibility.  At one phase prior to AEW, NXT really did feel cool.  We would do a TakeOver, and it would be sold out, 14,000 people with the crowd rocking all night.

“It reminds me a lot of how AEW is.  They’re there for every single match and every single false finish.  Stuff changed obviously when AEW arrived, and AEW became the true alternative and things like that.

“Without question, the changes within NXT, or the changes in general within WWE, AEW has to play a factor to some extent.”

Adam Cole Talks About His Relationship With Triple H And Shawn Michaels

Former WWE star and a former NXT Champion Adam Cole who is currently working in the All Elite Wrestling as an Elite recently talked about his relationship with Triple H and Shawn Michaels when he was working in the NXT.

Adam Cole was a huge name in the independent circuit and other promotion before he joined WWE in 2017. What in All Around The independent circuit and other professional wrestling promotions till 2017. After that, he joined WWE and he started working in the NXT. He first formed a stable in the NXT which was famously known as the Undisputed Era.

Adam Cole Talks About His Relationship With Triple H And Shawn Michaels

He became extremely popular in the NXT. He was the inaugural NXT North American champion, he also won the NXT Championship one time. Apart from that he won the NXT Tag Team Championship. He spent a total of four years in the NXT. It seemed like main roster call up is very imminent.

But that never happened. Imported WWE decided not to give him a contract in extension. Fans were really unhappy when they got to know that WWE wanted to take part with Adam Cole. As soon as his contract expired, he made his AEW debut during the AEW pay per view event All Out. Surely he has an amazing future in his new promotion. But it is disappointing for WWE fans that they could never see him on the main roster.

Adam Cole who is currently working in the All Elite Wrestling as an Elite recently spoke to Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast where he talked about his relationship with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. He said;

Adam Cole

“The nice thing about my relationship with him [Triple H] and my relationship with Shawn Michaels, they are so positive. Like to this day, positive. I formed a bond with Hunter, with Shawn that I would like to think and they have made it very apparent to me as well that it’s a relationship that we’re always gonna keep because I loved working with those guys.

“He knew what my goals were, the things that I wanted to accomplish. I think a big reason I loved NXT so much was again, we had that freedom and that ability to wrestle super cool, longer matches and get to show ourselves off like artistically in that sense. NXT was kind of built on that mentality.

“I got in at like the perfect time, at least for what I love about pro wrestling. He understood that I wanted to continue doing stuff like that. He knew that my Twitch was super important to me and I know that’s a big no-no in WWE which is unfortunate. But yeah, I was very open and very honest with him to the point where I was still thinking about what I was gonna do even when my contract was up.

Adam Cole
Adam Cole. Image Credits: Twitter

“He knew that and then when the decision was made, he knew that and Shawn knew that so I’ve always been open and honest with them right out of the gate because they’ve always been open and honest with me.

“I love Hunter, I love Shawn. They have been nothing but incredible to me. They made me better as a performer. I don’t think I’d be where I’m at in AEW right now if it wasn’t for those two and I really do mean that, seriously. When I think about the performer that I was in Ring of Honor, as much as I learned and as many great people as I got to work with, getting that four years with them is priceless. It’s absolutely priceless.”

Adam Cole

“He was really happy with the match, but no real conversation with him before, so that was the first time.  He was very complimentary and very nice.

“The idea was for me to go to RAW or SmackDown and not stay in NXT, just because I had been there for so long, and I think they knew, as much as I do love NXT, if I stayed in WWE, to take that step.  That was the gist of the conversation.  It was definitely to move me up to RAW or SmackDown.”

“I feel like I’m on top of the world.  These past few weeks have just been the best. Anyone who knows me, I’ve been very open about watching AEW since it started and following it closely, and seeing the fans, seeing the locker room, and seeing how happy everybody is, that was really an eye opening thing for me as far as my decision, and how easy it was.

“There were many people who I had known while they were elsewhere or doing other things, and then seeing these people in AEW, seeing how much fun they were having, and seeing how happy they were.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God.  That’s really, really awesome.’  I don’t know if I ever really jumped into this, but I’ll never forget, it was a couple of days before All Out where I was still kind of making my decision.  It had gotten to a point where we were getting pretty close.

Adam Cole
Adam Cole. Image Credits: Twitter

“Don’t get me wrong, I was pretty sure from the gate that AEW was where I wanted to go, but it was still, like, 9-year old me fell in love with pro wrestling because of WWE.  It was like, ‘Oh, what do I do?.’  I remember it was like one in the morning.  Britt was fast asleep right beside me.  I’m laying there awake.  I’m a night owl, so I’m normally up much later than she is, and get up much later than she does.

“I was laying there, my eyes were shut, and I was just thinking about showing up in AEW.  I got that giddy 9-year old feeling thinking about it.  So, I was like, ‘That’s it.’  I’ve always followed my gut, and I’ve always followed my heart.  The idea of coming here made me so excited and made me feel like a kid again.  These past few weeks have been proof that I made the right call.  I could not be more excited right now.  I’m so pumped.”
