Quite clearly Punk will be having a run as a babyface. There is no sign of Punk going for the AEW World title right now. Bryan Danielson has hit the picture of the world against Kenny Omega. We might see an AEW World Championship match soon between Kenny Omega and Bryan Danielson.

Punk might remain on the AEW Tag Team title picture and his Tag Team partner can be the former 6 time WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting. This unlikely Tag Team could be a history maker Tag Team is actually booked. Sting is very much capable of full time action even at the age of 62. The unlikely duo holding the Tag Team Championship would be amazing to see.

“Without ever having a bucket list, it’d be hard for me to write things down because I’ve done so many cool things, but yeah, that’s one of them, that’s a bucket list thing. It’s an item that I never thought I would, you know, because your brain doesn’t go there.

“We were never in the same company at the same time with two different generations of wrestlers and you just, you never thought it was possible, and now it is.

“That’s kind of how I feel about the entire groundswell of AEW as a whole, you know, like you got me, Darby and Sting in a ring and it’s legitimately three different generations, you know?”

Mark Henry Says Sting Wrestling At His 50s Was Inspiring

It has one of the longest professional wrestling careers in history. He travelled in various promotions. And he is the wrestler who proved to the world that you do not have to work in WWE to become successful in the world of professional wrestling. Sting did work in WWE but that was way after is prime and he worked only three matches in total.

Currently Sting works in the AEW and he did not extend his contract with WWE. Speaking of AEW, the promotion is going to start new wrestling show called AEW Rampage. They already have two other shows listed by their promotion. One of them being AEW Dynamite and the other one is AEW Dark. Hopefully AEW Rampage would be as big aa the other two.

Mark Henry who currently works in the All Elite Wrestling recently spoke with Miami’s 940 Winz where he said that seeing wrestling Sting at his 50s was really inspiring for him. Also talked about his role in the AEW Rampage. He said;

“I won’t be in the ring as of right now. Even though Sting has made me feel like even at 50, I should be able to get back in the ring.”

“We want to make sure that the fans tune in, not only for Wednesday’s on TNT, but they tune in for Friday. The only way to do that is to put your best foot forward and that’s exactly what we are doing.

“Look at our announce team. Having Excalibur and Taz, who have been on together hundreds of times and then, you add Chris Jericho who is one of the elites of the elite wrestlers in the world.

“Then, you bring in ‘The World Strongest Man’ for my analysis, and not only will I be on the announce table, I will be leaving the table and I will go in the back after matches and I will ask the hard questions and get the emotion from the talent in real-time, which is not done on wrestling program and right now. So it is cool to be able to go and do something that’s not being done.”

Scott Hall Reveals How The Crow Gimmick Of Sting Was Pitched

Professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall recently commented on coming up with the idea of the famous Crow gimmick of the six times WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting.

Steve Borden did not start his career as the character that made him famous in the world of professional wrestling. He earned his first recognition as a tag team along with none other than the Ultimate Warrior. Together they were known as the Freedom Fighters, later they changed their name to the Blade Runners.

Scott Hall Reveals How The Crow Gimmick Of Sting Was Pitched

He got his famous gimmick of Sting after he arrived to the Jim Crockett’s promotion which later became World Championship Wrestling. His new character was really loved by the fans and soon he became fan favourite.

In 1996 he got a gimmick change. This was the first time he adopted the famous Crow gimmick. After getting the Crow gimmick his popularity among the fans started reaching the ultimate height of success. He never changed his gimmick after that.

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall recently appeared on the 83 Weeks podcast of Eric Bischoff where he revealed how the idea of the crow gimmick of sting was pitched. Here is what he had to say;

Sting

“It was my very first TV in Macon. Of course, the boys get there early, and we’re there early. I’m wearing the denim vest and jeans for my opening segment and stuff, and I’m in there and Sting is applying his makeup. At this time, he’s still wearing his surfer color – neon and happy guy tights.

“But he’s letting his hair grow out. I didn’t really know Sting, and I never really had any heat with him. But he was a top guy when I was there before, and I was a bottom guy. We didn’t move in the same circles, we never wrestled, and we never interacted. I’m one of those guys that if I think it, I say it. I don’t care what our relationship is.

“He’s putting his makeup on, and I said, ‘You’re growing your hair out, huh?’ He goes, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘I guess frying it all those years is hard on you.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, it was really starting to damage it.’ I said, ‘That’s cool, but are you still gonna wear the happy guy tights?’ He goes, ‘Yeah.’ I’m thinking, now I remember why we didn’t hang out.

Sting

“I said, ‘Have you ever seen The Crow?’ He goes no, and I said it’s this dark character with the white face paint and the dark lines. I said, ‘I ain’t telling you to rip off Taker, but rip off Taker.’ Different territory, it’s not quite as bad. The way I heard it, he ran it by [Eric Bischoff], they went yes, and we’re off to the races.

“To me, I don’t need any credit for it. It’s just the right thing to do. I never knew Sting, and we’re a little friendlier these days. To me, once you give a guy an idea and it works, you have a connection with that guy. I never made a road trip with Sting, and we may have eaten dinner once or twice.

“But I can look across the locker room after that and point at him and go, ‘There’s my boy.’ You get that kind of bond. I don’t know if it happens in other businesses because I’ve only been in the wrestling business, but you connect with guys on different levels. You might give a guy of an idea of a move to do, and it gets over for him. Or something to say in an interview that works. You don’t forget the guys who help you, and you don’t forget the guys who screw you over.

Sting Says AEW Is A Very Supportive Promotion

WWE Hall of Famer Sting recently praises the All Elite Wrestling for being a very supportive organization to the wrestlers working in the promotion.

The All Elite Wrestling aka AEW was founded two and a half years ago and from the very first day the promotion is doing excellently. Currently, they are the biggest competition for WWE in the world of professional wrestling.

Sting Says AEW Is A Very Supportive Promotion

Been so successful in the world of professional wrestling beside a promotion like the WWE is not very easy. If one looks at the history of professional wrestling, any promotion that reach the height of success, it has been either bankrupted or purchased by the owner of WWE Vince McMahon himself.

Promotions like the World Championship Wrestling, the Total Nonstop Action actually coexisted with WWE British strongly, especially WCW. But ultimately failed. At the end of the day they could not compete with WWE.

AEW is doing pretty awesome right now. One can easily say that the AEW offers a better so than WWE every week. With the legendary names like Sting, Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Paul Wight, Christian Cage, they are really the height of the ultimate success. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Speaking of Sting, the Vigilante recently spoke with Paste Magazine where he praised AEW for being a very supportive promotion. Sting said;

Sting

“It is a place where you’ve got a bunch of male and female soldiers all sort of marching in the same direction, and pretty much everybody’s marching to the same beat. There isn’t really any factions or cliques or groups of people. Everybody is looking out for everybody and everybody wants AEW to succeed. Everybody wants… they’re really involved with other matches.

“They’re watching, and somebody will finish a great match, and they’ll walk back out and you’ll hear the entire locker room area clapping and applauding. I think there’s a great unity, really, to be honest with you, with most everybody there in AEW. Something that I’ve never experienced.

“The closest I ever got was WCW, years ago, when Eric Bischoff took over and he was up there in the nosebleed sections, listening to fans and how they were reacting to the storylines and to each individual wrestler.

Sting
Sting. Image Credits: Twitter

“You’ve had some of the biggest names in the business, Hall and Nash and Hogan, all of us, Luger… we were all sort of like walking together. Everybody was looking out for everybody else, and the creative juices were flowing, not just for yourself, with no hidden agendas. We had about 12 months of that, I’d say, and then it all ended. But here, I’d heard that’s the way the atmosphere was in AEW, and I walked into it and have experienced it firsthand now for six months, and that’s exactly the way it is.

“It starts at the top, and filters its way down. Tony [Khan] is a very personable guy, a very approachable guy. I’ve noticed he’s like that with just about everybody, it doesn’t matter who you are. It’s a good atmosphere.”

Why Sting vs. Undertaker Never Happened

WWE Hall of Famer and professional wrestling Legend Sting recently revealed why he never faced the Undertaker ever in professional wrestling history.

The Undertaker vs. Sting has been one of the biggest dream matches in professional wrestling history. There are a lot of dream matches in pro wrestling that never happened and some of them actually happened.

Why Sting vs. Undertaker Never Happened

There were dream matches like Hulk Hogan vs The Rock, Goldberg vs The Undertaker, that actually took place. And there are also dream matches like Hulk Hogan vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, Andre the Giant vs Big Show, Kane vs Monster Abyss, Shawn Michaels vs The Rock to mention a few that never happened and they are not likely to be happen ever again.

Sting

Among these dream matches that never happened is the Undertaker vs Sting. A match that fans are waiting to see for over two decades, but it did not happen. WWE had the chance to actually book this dream match when Sting made his debut in WWE. But they did not.

The legendary professional wrestler Sting recently spoke to Sports Illustrated where he revealed the actual reason why sting vs The Undertaker never happened. Here is what the Vigilante had to say;

Sting

“I wanted that to happen,” said Sting. “I was very clear publicly, and I was very clear with WWE, as well. I wanted my last hurrah against Taker. For whatever reason, it just never materialized. To this day, I don’t know why. Maybe Taker never wanted to work with me. I have no idea.

I mean, I’ve had good conversations with Taker and we’ve always got along. I don’t know why the match never happened, but it should have happened. Because it wasn’t going to happen, and I knew it, and that wasn’t the only reason why I left WWE, but it’s one of the reasons why I left. I wanted that one last match.”

Darby Allin Says Sting Has To Prove His Worth Tonight

Darby Allin and professional wrestling legend Sting will face Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky at Double Or Nothing pay per view event of the All Elite Wrestling tonight. This is one of the 10 matches that have been booked for the pay per view event.

There is no doubt that Sting has been one of the biggest professional wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling. The question might get raised why Derby Allin is making such a comment about the Vigilante.

Darby Allin Says Sting Has To Prove His Worth Tonight

The former 6 times WCW World Heavyweight Champion and the WWE Hall of Famer is already sixty two years old. And at this age wrestlers are not seen very comfortable in the ring. Even the best professional wrestlers like the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg and more have lost it completely after surpassing their 50s. Where Sting is already sixty two years old.

The Stinger has been working flawlessly for quite a long time. He did not allow the critics to criticize him at all. It has been said by a lot of wrestler so many times that he is one of the best wrestlers to work with. So we are hoping to see Sting continues doing what he does best.

Sting

His Tag Team partner for tonight Darby Allin spoke with Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy to Hype up the Double or Nothing pay per view event where he talked about his Tag Team partner of the night. He said;

“I’ve been going down to his house in Texas and training. He’s not taking this lightly, he ain’t taking this for granted. This is a lot, he has a lot to prove in this match, and he’s been working at it for sure. Both of us are super excited because it’s going to be a full crowd. It screws with the mind, I feel, when someone of his calibre, whose whole career was these insane crowd reactions, comes in during the pandemic. He’s had some good, big reactions when he first came in but that was, like, half the building. So, packing that out, I can only imagine.

Sting

“I knew it would work just because we have the same sense of, like, we’re here for business, we’re here to really just focus on business. Sting’s not going to come up to me and gossip and stuff like that. So it feels natural for me to be around the veterans, because they don’t have time and head space to even care about any of that stuff. If they’d have put me with a younger guy, I’d probably head-butt the wall.”

Kurt Angle On His Relationship With Sting

Wrestling fans got the privilege to watch Sting and Kurt Angle wrestling at the same time in the same promotion. It was a dream come true moment for a lot of wrestling fans. Kurt Angle vs. Sting has been a dream match for wrestling fans which actually happened a number of times.

The match between Angle and Sting from Bound for Glory 2007 is still considered a masterpiece where Sting defeated Kurt Angle to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

With all the kayfabe rivalries aside, Kurt Angle and Sting have an amazing relationship with each other which may sound a little weird to some fans. This happens to fans when they see two wrestlers fighting each other with passion on screen but in real life, they are close friends.

As an example, Triple H and Shawn Michaels had some gruesome rivalries in the past but in real life, they were the best of friends. The same goes for Goldberg and Brock Lesnar as well. Goldberg and Lesnar have always been great friends.

Recently, the Olympic Gold Medallist on the Kurt Angle Show spoke on his great relationship with WWE Hall of Famer Sting. He said;

Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle. Image Credits: Twitter

“We hit it off from the start. We got along perfectly well, we had a lot in common. He was just one of the most humble people I had ever talked to. I can’t believe that he was a part of WCW at a time where things there were very political and guys were stabbing each other in the back. For Sting, as nice as he is and as generous as he is, it’s crazy that he had that much success in that company, that’s just outlandish. He’s such a great guy, he’s one of the most solid guys I’ve ever met.”

He also said that if he would face Sting again;

“Well considering I’m 52 and Sting’s a lot older than I am, I’d say the chances are no, slim to none. For many reasons, we’re too old. We’re not too old to wrestle younger guys, you wrestle a younger guy who can spice up the match and make it a little more interesting, you can have some great matches still. When you start losing a step and you’re both older and both lost a step, it’s really hard to make that up.”

Kurt Angle

With Sting crossing his 60s he still looks to be in good shape ever since he joined the All Elite Wrestling. But Kurt Angle does not want to wrestle anymore so a match between the two is not possible anymore.

Sting Reveals How He Got His Shape Back

Wrestling legend Sting has recently his debut on the All Elite Wrestling the last December. It was pretty shocking to see the Stinger not only coming back to a major promotion but also in action again.

Sting shocked the world when he finally arrived in the WWE in 2014. He finally agreed to bury the hatchet with the biggest professional wrestling promotion. Even though he was not given any major victory under WWE’s banner but his short WWE run will be remembered by the fans forever.

Sting Reveals How He Got His Shape Back

Sting is the prime example to make those people wrong who think a wrestler cannot be world-famous without being in WWE. The list of Sting’s achievements is so long that it cannot be measured in this story. Most of the newer audience who are not familiar with Sting’s previous works in WCW and Total Nonstop Action will never understand what an amazing wrestler during his time. This is a big reason why the older audience could never accept his defeats against Triple H and Seth Rollins in his small WWE career.

Recently Sting spoke to the Bleacher Report where he talked about his NXT goals and other things. Some highlights are given below;

He reveals that AEW sent him a ring to get back into shape:

After five-and-a-half years of not being in a ring, there was some rust on me, for sure, especially with guys in the ring like Darby, Ricky Starks and Brian Cage. These guys are incredible. Tony Khan asked me if I wanted a ring sent to my house and thankfully, I have a barn that is insulated with climate control. We put the ring in there, and I had to get used to running the ropes again, and it was an eye-opener for me. It was a challenge.

Sting
Sting. Image Credits: Twitter

I didn’t recover as quick as I used to. It was grueling. I had a lot of work to get my cardio ready to go and get into good physical condition. It was tougher than it’s ever been but I got there.

He calls Darby Allin multi-talented and also says he enjoyed working with him for the Street Fight:

There were times I felt like I am along for the ride, but it’s hard for me not to plug myself in creatively on certain aspects. I would speak up and have my own ideas, but I have to tell you: Darby is probably the most creative I have seen. He has a mind for the wrestling business and cinematography. I think he is going to be one of those guys that a lot of people are going to end up working for someday. He is multi-talented. It was really cool working with Darby.

Sting
Sting. Image Credits: Twitter

He also says filming took a huge toll on his body:

The cinematic was fun. I would like to do more of those for sure, but I came out of it in shambles. It took its toll on me. It was two nights of filming and that was pretty tough. It can be taxing on the body especially at my age. It was 12 hours instead of being in the ring for 30-40 minutes. I love filming. I have done movies and TV, and I always have fun with that stuff. The tough part was all of the hours and the recovery time.

Sting’s in-ring performance even at the age of 62 proves he is not just any other wrestler out there. He rightfully proved to the world that ‘age is just a number.’

WWE Legend Sting Confirms He’s Coming Back To Action In AEW

All Elite Wrestling promotion sent a shockwave through the professional wrestling industry by bringing back Sting on television. For the first time in more than two decades, he was back on TNT where he used to be the main event attraction on Monday Nights. This definitely was a key appearance and a huge signing on AEW’s part.

There have been some speculations over the legendary superstar making in-ring appearances in the future and confirmations about the same have now been received. Sting was the guest on a recent episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, where he talked about a number of things including his eventual involvements in competition.

The Undertaker vs Sting: WWE Denied Fantasy Match Between These Legends

WWE Legend Sting Confirms He’s Coming Back To Action In AEW 11

The former WCW franchise player revealed how he ended up appearing on AEW TV. He first spoke with AEW President Tony Khan five years ago when the latter asked him to sign a baseball bat for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Khan then contacted him again a year ago when he was under contract with WWE. So the situation had to be handled, carefully,

“[Khan] didn’t call me, he sent a text,” Sting said of Khan. “I was still with WWE so I’ve gotta be careful with how I handle this kind of stuff, so I just kept it superficial.

“I’d say, two months or so ago, somewhere around then, I reached out and said, ‘Hey, are you still willing to talk?’ [Khan] said ‘Yeah!’ and here we are.”

WWE Legend Sting Coming Back To Action For AEW

Sting then admitted that he wasn’t happy with how his career ended in WWE. He said that he had been pushing for a cinematic match against The Undertaker. But with Vince McMahon not agreeing to the proposal, this match wasn’t going to happen. Khan then asked him if he was interested in wrestling cinematic matches in AEW and the answer was positive,

“I didn’t want it to end the way it ended,” Sting said. “I was pushing to get a cinema-style match with ‘Taker. And for probably a litany of different reasons, it just wasn’t going to happen and so when Tony called and spoke with me and he said, ‘Are you interested in doing cinema-style matches?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I am (laughs). I am.’ And so I thought that I’d like to come back and do that and not disappear again with my tail between my legs. I don’t have to go out on top, but I’d love to be able to go out in a positive light.”

WWE Legend Sting Confirms He’s Coming Back To Action In AEW 12

The Vigilante praised the talents that are present on the AEW roster and he’s willing to help them out in whichever way possible. Perhaps, some of them will be fortunate enough to wrestle him, down the road. He also discussed his first entrance in AEW with the snow. Despite all of the innovative entrances that he’s had, the snow was a first in his career,

“I’ve made every kind of entrance under the sun,” Sting stated. “I mean, they’ve done everything except shoot me out of a cannon, but I gotta tell you, snow is a first for me. Winter is coming, and it is so cool. I’ve had more people say, ‘Oh dude! The snow! That is awesome.'”
