Former two times WWE Champion Drew McIntyre who is also a former two times WWE Tag Team Champion recently credited Triple H for his return to WWE in 2017. He said that if he was not called by WWE he would have gone to Japan.

After making the main roster debut in 2009 he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship very early. He started having an undefeated run until it was finally beaten by the Big Red Machine Kane. He was portrayed as The Chosen One by Vince McMahon. He was actually very much a favourite of Vince, he really believed in McIntyre.

But ultimately it was understood that he was not ready for the push he was receiving. As a result he was promoted to a jobber role. And in 2014 he was released by WWE. In 2017 he returned to WWE again after spending three years on the independent circuit and some other promotions as well. Since then he is going really strong.

Drew McIntyre who is a former two times WWE Champion recently spoke with Inside The Ropes where he credited Triple H for his return to WWE in 2017. He said that if he was not called by WWE he would have gone to Japan. He said;

“I wouldn’t be back in WWE if it wasn’t for Triple H, it’s as simple as that. William Regal put me on the phone with him, we talked for 40 minutes, within that conversation at the beginning I wasn’t sure if I was going to come back, I was honestly leaning more towards Japan and by the end of it, I was 100% coming back.”

“The thing that meant the most to me was not just how far I’d come professionally but how far I’d come as a man and how proud he was of me, and that kind of meant a lot because I have so much respect for him and that’s grown into a friendship today, and he really is somebody who is not just a friend to a lot of people but a father figure to a lot of people, and again the news caught everybody off guard but he’s got a lot of positive energy coming his way right now and he’s going to be fine, which I’m very happy to hear.”

Triple H No More Untouchable At Backstage Of WWE NXT

Triple H is undoubtedly considered as the second head-honcho for the WWE management after the Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon. However, things did change a lot over the last couple of years where Nick Khan, the WWE President gained a lot more power and reportedly is the one who is selecting talents to be released due to the COVID-19 budget cuts.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Triple H’s backstage power in WWE has been decreased to some extent. It has been affected in a negative way due to NXT losing the Wednesday Night War against AEW Dynamite. Both the shows used to air on Wednesday nights but now NXT has been shifted to Tuesday Nights to retain their ratings.

Triple H is being pointed out to be the responsible one who has failed to stop AEW’s rise on Wednesday nights. His guilt is doubled since he has full control over the NXT product, unlike the main roster. Also, it’s been noted that some WWE Officials are legit trying to play backstage politics to hurt The Game’s influence.

NXT employees scared of Triple H?

Some of them do feel that Triple H would fire them if he ever takes charge of the WWE after Vince McMahon,

“It’s largely based on what was said to be a new company directive for the product and a behind-the-scenes power struggle involving those who fear for their positions if and when [Paul] Levesque takes over and thus want to undermine him, and those who support Levesque.

Levesque had been thought to be untouchable, but in failing to stop AEW’s rise, and eventually losing the war, it gave both his detractors and those who felt he would replace them the obvious ammunition.”

During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the recent cuts from NXT which also indicated that a larger change in philosophy for NXT is coming ahead. He noted that Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis were behind the NXT cuts along with McMahon while Triple H and Shawn Michaels had no sayings behind these releases.

It was specifically mentioned that NXT lost the “Wednesday Night War” to AEW, and now the goal for the black-and-yellow brand is to go back to the older style of developmental with bigger and younger guys. Perhaps, the brand could change similar to the original format of NXT back in 2010. Meltzer noted that people in WWE are all fighting for McMahon’s ear while Triple H might just be a spectator in all of these.

The match turned out to be is zombie lumberjack match which was a promotion for the movie Army of the Dead starring the former six times WWE World Champion Batista.

“I’m not sure, but it’s looking like RAW. So, congrats.’ I just kinda stood there staring at him ‘cause I didn’t know what to say. I was like, am I supposed to be happy? ‘Cause I’m leaving NXT. I’m one of his guys… I’m like, ‘How do you feel about it?’

“I turned it on him and he’s like, ‘What? Yeah, I’m happy for you.’ ‘Okay, I’m happy, too. I think. I don’t know.’ I was just so awkward. I didn’t know how to react. ‘Cause I was just a ball of emotions. This was the dream. I always wanted to be a WWE superstar. I grew up watching RAW and Smackdown. So, to know I’m going to be a part of these shows now, I needed a moment. Now, it’s just crazy.”

Triple H On A Possible In Ring Return

WWE Hall of Famer Triple H who is also a former 14 times WWE World Champion recently commented on a possible in ring return. Triple H is not seen in WWE since the Survivor Series pay-per-view event of last year.

Triple H has been one of the biggest names in WWE and professional wrestling history. He made his professional wrestling debut back in 1990. After having some and successful spells for different promotions, he finally arrived at WWE in 1995. During his previous days he was known as Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

By the end of 1990, he already proved his want to Vince McMahon and it was quite obvious that he was going to be pushed as a main event star. Burn is first WWE Championship back in 1999 in an episode of Monday Night RAW after he defeated Mankind. And after that he kept on winning championships and as of now, he is a former 14 times WWE world champion.

He did take voluntary retirement from Professional wrestling but he kept coming back to action every now and then. He wrestled on special occasions like Wrestlemania almost every year. He also worked in WWE Super Showdown which is an event mainly built for the Saudi Arabia. His last match was at the Super Showdown 2019 where he was defeated by Randy Orton.

Triple H who is also a former 14 times WWE World Champion recently spoke to The Herd where he commented on a possible in ring return. He said;

“If people want it, if it’s the right thing, it has got to be intriguing. At this point, with as busy as everybody is in WWE from the business side, for me to get ready for WrestleMania, at my age, it’s not something to enter into casually.

“I’d have to train a lot, a couple times a day for three months or so to get ready for that. In-ring training and everything. I’ve already torn most of everything off my body so I want to make sure I’m not ready to do that again.

Triple H

“The training would be the tough part with the schedule, but if it was something people wanted and it was intriguing to me, I would love to do it. I would love to come back and hit a WrestleMania, but I’ve said it before, I would also love to…much like somebody like Cena, you sort of make the comeback and do it, but going to the towns.

“If I was to do something like that before I called it a day, go to the Garden again. Go to Japan. Go to different countries and have that one more match. Step into those cities where you have 25+ years of memories and opponents and to be able to go out there and do it again in front of them one more time. It doesn’t have to be the same person you go against at WrestleMania. It’s a matter of what we can make happen, but it’s intriguing for sure.”

WWE NXT: Fatal-4-Way; Title Match And More Set For Next Week

Triple H will still be running WWE NXT

In Triple H’s absence, his NXT brand is going through a lot of changes. The September 14th show will mark a new era for the black and gold brand with Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard being in charge. The Game might not be there to see the actions, live. But we hope that he will soon be back with his boys and the creative responsibilities for the brand.

Fans did worry a bit after reports went viral that senior McMahon is taking things over on the NXT brand. According to a report from Wrestle Votes, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, William Regal, and Matt Bloom will still be in very much control of things even after the brand gets a revamp. The contents of NXT is still likely to get changed a bit as the report claims the following,

“After talking to sources regarding NXT: the day to day operation isn’t changing that drastically. Still very much in the hands of HHH, HBK, Regal, Bloom etc. However, the look of the weekly TV product will have a “Vince & Co” stamp on it. I expect it to be subtle to start… then?”

WWE NXT returns to live format from next week onwards and it will be interesting to see what new they’ve to offer.

Vince McMahon Will Be In Charge Of Revamped WWE NXT Brand

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will now be in charge of the WWE NXT brand alongside Senior Vice President & Executive Director Bruce Prichard from now onward. This may appear as nightmare news for the hardcore NXT base as Triple H will no more be overseeing the happenings over on the Tuesday night brand. The change appears to be a direct change for losing the Wednesday Night War to AEW Dynamite.

Previous reports already claimed that WWE NXT will return to airing live weekly shows on the USA Network beginning with the September 14 episode. This episode will feature the wedding of Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell which will also mark a reset for the brand, with a new logo, new theme song, and a new look for the weekly show.

Now we know, a new creative direction will also be reserved for the third brand of WWE. It was noted by Bryan Alvarez on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live that McMahon and Prichard will be producing the weekly WWE NXT TV show when the brand’s shows return to live format, later this month.

Furthermore, Dave Meltzer added in that report stating McMahon and Prichard will be behind the big decisions on Tuesday nights but not the smaller ones. They will also be responsible for the marketing, promotion, and direction of the WWE NXT brand. Regarding the creative perspective, it was noted that McMahon and Prichard might only book the top talents of the brand.

Word is already out that NXT will be like “the old NXT” just like it used to be in 2015-18. This is the timespan when the brand was considered to be at its peak. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast added that McMahon has always been hands-on with the WWE NXT brand, anyways. Hence, he will continue with that role, moving forward.

No confirmation is available on how things will change for Triple H and his team, which includes WWE Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels and “Road Dogg” Brian James but they won’t be able to take the biggest decisions, anymore.

WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan recently confirmed that a complete brush-up for WWE NXT brand is expected and it’s already been teased on social media. Rapper Wale recently revealed a bright new color-changing logo for the NXT brand alongside a preview of the hip hop theme song booked for the show.

But in April 2021, she was released from WWE which stunned the world of professional wrestling. Everyone criticize the decision made by WWE. Even Triple H was not happy with this decision as he decided to get him back only after two months of him getting released and in June he was reinstated to his job. This time he started working in the NXT.

“I’ve established some really good business relationships, and that holds a lot of weight in my book,” Joe says. “Especially in an age where so many indie wrestlers coming up are dealing with crazy, shady promoters here and there, I’m dealing with someone who is consistent in their promises.”

“I’m looking at him, and this match as a blank slate,” Joe says. “Kross is very different from the many people that I’ve faced. He presents a very unique challenge. He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever seen in NXT. It’s going to be something new.”

WWE NXT Possibly Receiving Big Changes In Late 2021

Over on Friday night, more than a dozen of WWE NXT talents were released continuing the recent spree of WWE releases (overall 119 wrestlers have been released in the span of a couple of years) that started a year ago. The released talents included big names like Bronson Reed and Mercedes Martinez who were mainstay names for the third brand. Reports noted that Vince McMahon was the lead in this spree of releases.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has now provided more updates on the situation. It was noted that these WWE NXT cuts are part of a larger change that is upcoming in philosophy for the black and yellow brand. He noted that Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis were also behind these cuts along with McMahon.

WWE Raw Preview (09/08/21): Bobby Lashley, Charlotte Flair Responds

WWE NXT Possibly Receiving Big Changes In Late 2021 57

The other head honchos Triple H and Shawn Michaels were not responsible for these cuts. WWE NXT was on the losing side of the “Wednesday Night War” to AEW Dynamite. Hence, the top management wants to return to the older style of development where bigger and younger guys get the priority. The change would be similar to the original format of NXT back in 2010.

McMahon is also pulling the plug on WWE NXT

Meltzer continued by saying that there are different opinions about WWE NXT about wrestling amongst the key people in WWE, and they are all fighting to insert those to McMahon’s ear. For now, this is the current direction that has been decided upon, but things can always change, possibly on the outcome.

Per Meltzer’s exact wording regarding the new changes for WWE NXT, “no more midgets, no one starting in their 30s. They want people that can be box office attractions and main characters.”

WWE NXT Possibly Receiving Big Changes In Late 2021 58

Despite this new change in direction, there will always be exceptions like Adam Cole who’s been a star around the indie circuit. There’s been trying to keep him under the WWE banner for the past few weeks.

Wrestling Inc. exclusively reported that Adam Cole’s contract will expire this month after SummerSlam. Cole also had a meeting with Vince McMahon a few hours before this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown from Miami, Florida. Meltzer then noted that writers have been told to write main roster storylines for the former WWE NXT Champion. Cole has been with the WWE since 2017 and he has spent most of the time on NXT.
