The Indian shuttler’s had a decent outing on the first day as Jayaram , Sai Pranneth and HS Prannoy entered into the second round of Macau Open Grand Prix Gold earlier today. The top men’s singles player K Srikanth was knocked out in the first round.

In men’s singles Jayaram took on Tam CH of Hong Kong. In the first game the Indian player began off to a positive note as he took a 6-4 lead. He took 5 successive points in a row to lead 11-5 at the interval. After the interval Jayaram continued to put pressure on his opponent and won the first set 21-6. In the second game Jayaram again began well taking a 6-4 lead. At the interval Jayaram led 11-10. After the interval Chun Hei took 3 points in a row to take 13-10 lead. Jayaram came back strongly and led 16-15. It was a neck to neck to battle as Jayaram held his nerves to win the second set 25-23 progressing into the second round.

In other matches HS Prannoy took on Sukamata. In the first game both players began well taking alternate points till 5-5. At the interval the Indian player led 11-8. After the interval HS Prannoy dominated and won the first set 21-15. In the second game Sukamata came back strongly and put pressure on HS Prannoy. Sukamata took an 11-9 lead at the interval. After the interval Sukamata really made light work and won the second set 21-16. In the deciding set the Indian player was playing some aggressive badminton. At the interval HS Prannoy led 11-9. After the interval HS Prannoy continued to dominate as Sukamata tried to come back into the match but HS Prannoy won the third set 21-18 and progress into the second round.

In the third match of the day Sai Pranneth took on Hadmadi of Indonesia. In the first game it was neck to neck battle as Sai Pranneth led 11-10 at the interval. After the interval both players fought for each but Sai Pranneth won the first set 21-18. In the second game it followed a similar pattern as both players fought for each point and got alternate points till 21-21, Sai Pranneth got 2 successive points and progressed into the second round.

 

K Srikanth took on Chrisite. In the first game Chrisite put pressure on the Indian player. At the interval it was 11-9 in favor of Christie. After the interval Chrisite played some aggressive badminton and won the first set 21-16. In the second game Chrisite began well taking a 9-5 lead. At the interval Chrisite led 11-6. After the interval Srikanth came back into the match and reduced the gap to 11-13. Srikanth got 4 successive points for 15-13 lead. Chrisite came back strongly and equaled the score at 16-16. It was a neck to neck battle with Chrisite winning second set 23-21 and knocking Srikanth out in the first round again.
