Strengths:

  •          They have the strong batting order.
  •          They can chase down big totals with ease.
  •          Kings XI have a handful of decent All-Rounders.
  •          Mitchell Johnson can be lethal with the new ball.
  •          Most of their players are in good form.
  •          Glenn Maxwell and David Miller are at their destructive best and that is a good news for the team management.
  •          George Bailey brings a lot of value to the team as the captain of the side.
  •          Playing majority of their matches at home makes it easier for them.

Weakness:

  •          Playing in the first time in Champions League T20 will add some pressure to the players.
  •          Absence of Sandeep Sharma will hurt the bowling department.
  •          Placed in a tougher group must hurt them.
  •          Bowling is a concern for Kings XI.

Players to watch out for:

Manan Vohra

Everyone were surprised when Kings XI Punjab decided to retain Manan Vohra in the IPL players retention. But it proved to be a master stroke by the team management. Vohra, who played in the second half of the tournament had an extraordinary season. He gave start for the Kings XI consistently and helped the likes of Maxwell and Miller to cash on the platform set in the later stages of the game.

Mitchell Johnson

Kings XI Punjab’s Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson will have a huge task in hands in the CLT20 in the absence of his fellow pacer Sandeep Sharma. Johnson has been a revelation for Australia in the past one year and his skipper George Bailey will expect Johnson to fire in the tournament as well. Wickets with the new ball and containing at the death overs is what the Kings XI expect from Johnson in the tournament.

X-Factor:

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell or Glenndeep Singh Maxwell was the man responsible for Kings XI’s show in the IPL. He single handedly won games for them and took his side all the way through to the finals. He is a kind of batsman who is fearless, doesn’t care about who the bowler is and simple he will start attacking right from the word go. HE is destructive against the spinners and will look to continue his good form for the Kings XI in the Champions League T20.

Possible Playing XI:

Virender Sehwag, Manan Vohra, Wriddhiman Saha, Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, George Bailey, Rishi Dhawan, Akshar Patel, Mitchell Johnson, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Karanveer Singh.
