Fifties from both the openers assured that Sunrisers face no hiccups what so ever in their chase.Skipper Shikhar Dhawan led the Sunrisers team charge as he scored a 53 ball 71 to chase down the 169 run target set by the Srilankan franchise. Sangakkara, Thirimanne set’s Competitive Total: The Srilankan veteran Wicket Keeper batsmen Kumar Sangakkara, who chose to play for his home franchise than the IPL team scored 61 of 46 as their team posted a competitive total of 168 in their respective 20 overs. He was well supported by the Kandurata skipper Thirimanne who scored 54 of 39. The usually on target Styen and Co. Failed to fire on all cylinders as both the Srilankan’s milked runs with ease. It was a surprise to see Amit Mishra, the leading wicket taken for Sunrisers bowl just one over of his quota of four. The all-rounder Thisara Perera had one of the worst days with ball as he leaked 43 runs of his four overs. Ishant Sharma, the lanky pacer was the pick of the bowler for Hyderabad based team with 20/2 in his allotted four overs.
Sunrisers Openers Record Stand:
A 121 run opening stand between Parthiv Patel- Shikhar Dhawan shut the door on the hopes of Kandurata Maroons and took the game in the favour of the Sunrisers. Openers started on a cautious note but managed to score boundaries at regular intervals to keep the required rate under check. Once both of them settled, flurry of boundaries flew from their blades. All the Kandurata bowlers were taken for the cleaners as both the openers switched gears with ease. The Mystery spinner Ajanta Mendis was hammered for a hat trick of fours as both the batsmen raced against each other to reach the half centuries. Done and Dusted: A loose shot from Parthiv Patel (52 (43)) saw the end of a beautiful innings from the little Wicket keeper batsmen. Dhawan continued his rampage on the other end with vigour before his reverse sweep of Ajanta Mendis ended in the hands of Nuwan Kulesekara. The moustache wonder has amazed 71 of 53 with 11 hits to the fence in his solid match winning innings. Kandurata Maroons felt a glimmer of hope which was soon dashed by Thisara Perera who scored a blitzkrieg 32 of 11 balls to take Sunrisers home. A huge hit over the boundary by Perera meant Sunrisers register their first victory of the tournament.
