Like every other IPL season, in this season too viewers have witnessed a fresh breed of young talent. Players like Deepak Hooda, Yuzvenndra Chahal and Sarfaraz Khan have been brilliant. But among the young talents, it is none other than Mumbaikar Shreyas Iyer, who has stolen the show with his classy batting.

Iyer has been very consistent at the top of the order for the Delhi Daredevils and is among the leading run getters and six hitters. His team management has shown tremendous faith in him as well. The young prodigy has 419 runs to his name in 13 games so far. Iyer though, credits the experience he gained from playing in the Ranji Trophy behind his IPL success.

He said:

“I got a lot of confidence playing Ranji Trophy. I never thought that I will score this much in my first season of the IPL. I am carrying forward that confidence which is helping me very much here, said the 20 year old opener.

“To be honest, I wasn’t really thinking about how people will look at me in the IPL season. But as the tournament progressed, I went good, I realized I should continue till the end. Unfortunately, we have not qualified, so I had decided to finish it off well. I don’t think much about the future, just stick to the present, concluded Iyer.”

Delhi Daredevils (DD) are already out of the IPL 8 play-off race and Iyer would like to do something special for his team in their last game against RCB (on May 17) so that they finish on a high.
