With Only eight days left for the commencement of Bengal’s campaign in the Ranji Trophy this season, Bengal selectors seem to be in a great dilemma over choosing the team’s captain. A chaotic situation might be created as the team itself looks divided on paying its confidence to the present skipper Laxmi Ratan Shukla.
A major section of the Bengal squad has reportedly expressed their no confidence on the present skipper. One of its key reasons is that Shukla has failed to unite the spirit of the team. Another section in the Bengal team is reportedly keen that Manoj Tiwari should be brought back as the skipper for the Ranji Trophy this season. But as Tiwari has been failing to perform so far this season, the selectors do not want to bring Tiwari as Bengal captain.
In that case, only one name seems unanimously acceptable to everybody. He is Wriddhiman Saha, the Indian wicketkeeper. But the irony is that Saha himself does not want to sit on captain’s chair. Even sometimes back, he had reportedly refused Sourav Ganguly’s request to take the captaincy.
And once again it has been learnt that Sourav Ganguly is likely to request Saha to take captain’s job in this crisis. And along with this plans Bengal selectors have planned to take an interesting decision that they will ask the Bengal’s present cricketers about their choice for the new captain of Bengal for this season.
Even plans have been made to ask the cricketers separately about their choice. The selectors look optimistic that this method will finally help Bengal to get a perfect skipper this season.
