In the 2nd ODI match of the series , England had to face the music and much because of their poor batting and just Morgan and Ian Bell managed to get into th double figures. Earlier Dilshan , Sangakkara and Ashan Priyanjan led Sri Lanka to pile up a score of 256 runs. The English were bundled out for just 99 runs, led by the bowling combo of Kulasekara and Senanayake. The series is now balanced at 1 each.

Hits of the match:

1: Tillakaratne Dilshan: On a day when the ball dominated the bat, he led the way for Sri Lanka with the bat. He scored 88 runs from 101 balls and built the foundation for the lower order. He attacked the fast bowlers initially and then settled down a bit.

2:Ashan Priyanjan: Many said that Sri Lankan cricket don’t have enough young lads to take their cricket forward just got something to remain silent. After there was a mini collapse of the middle order, he took the responsibility of  carrying the innings. He scored a quick fire 43 of 33 balls , with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes , helping Sri Lanka to post 256 runs.

3:Nuwan Kulasekara : He has always been an exponent of swing bowling and today ran away with the top order of the English batting lineup , and they could never recover from it. With the English conditions favouring him, he He dismissed the top 3 and finishing up with 1 figure of 15 for 3 in 6 overs.

4: Sachihra Senanayake : A mystery spinner who could not get his worth in this year’s auction in IPL, but he proved his worth in the Sri Lankan team.He got a place in the side ahead of Rangana Herath and Ajantha Mendis and then picked up 4 wickets for just 13 runs in 7.1 overs. He ran through the middle and the lower order.

Lows of the Match:

1: Mahela Jayawardane: He has not been to his best in recent times and this innings did not help his cause either. He scored just 2 runs and was run out , thanks to a poor calling. He will have to pull his socks or he may face what Attapattu faced befor 2007 World CUp.

2: Ravi Bopara: With his ODI place not yet confirmed evry time and so much of competition for an all rounder spot in the team, it was a forgettable outing for him . He went wicketless on a wicket that provided assistance to the bowlers  and then followed it up with a batting failure. He just managed to get 7 runs from 24 balls and was never comfortable on the crease.

3:Joe Root: The experts have said it a lot of times that he is the most talented youngster in the English arena now . He had a decent start to both the Test and ODI career but just could not carry on. He had a horrible Ashes in Australia and a terrible ODI campaign. He was cleaned up by a Malinga beauty at the score of 0. Few more of this and Joe Root might be kicked out of the English ODI team.

4: Chris Jordan: After a good start to his ODI and T20 career, he did a harm to his reputation in this match. On a pitch where the ball seamed and was quick, this lad failed to make use of it. He went for 56 runs in 10 overs and considering the pitch, it was definetely too much. He just picked up 1 wicket. As an all rounder , who has a reputation of hitting it big, he just scored  1 run in 3 balls . With so much of competition in the team for a seamers spot, he need to be consistent with both bat and ball.
